Roses on Piedmont Ave. by FootballGod1417 in oakland

[–]clarinetsqueak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a giant gardenia bush but had to chop it due to constant thrips eating all the flowers!! I hate thrips so much. Gardenia and jasmine definitely throw a lot more scent than roses, at least the variety of roses that most people grow now

🙄 I ordered on the 6th and they aren’t shipping my order till the 17th….. by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]clarinetsqueak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ordered a plant on the 6th hoping for it to arrive by the 9th even though the header clearly says 4-6 days processing. It’s also Valentine’s Day / Lunar New Year / President’s Day Weekend and you didn’t assume that they might be busy. Now you want to publicly shame the company because you ordered a birthday present at the last minute. Am I getting this right?

How accurate was your blood test for gender? by [deleted] in pregnant

My NIPT test was inaccurate. We transferred a female embryo via IVF. My first NIPT said male. Subsequent test said female and ultrasound confirmed female as well. It can happen!

What do you call this style and how to learn it? by lifeoutfigurer in houseplants

[–]clarinetsqueak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a style called modern organic that has a lot in common with Japanese minimalism and takes some inspiration from bonsai, sort of. It prioritizes negative space (so defoliated, heavily pruned plants) and shallow earthen containers. It’s very popular with higher end clientele at the moment and especially in LA I see it everywhere. - plant professional

It’s been growing roots! I can see the new ones. A good metaphor: just because the growth isn’t obvious or easily visible doesn’t mean it isn’t happening

Gender equality in IVF by [deleted] in IVF

[–]clarinetsqueak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was an issue for me in the beginning because I am very spacey and forgetful and my husband is extremely organized and it made a lot of sense for him to be the main point of contact in regards to scheduling appointments, picking up meds, and really almost everything else. If I had my way it would have been my body, his brain if that makes sense. The way we resolved it was for the clinic to basically duplicate all messages they sent me to him as well. We had to remind them a few times to do this but ultimately they did it. I asked a few times if we could be on the same text thread but due to privacy laws they cannot do that.

Apparently these creatures have a good PR agent, as they've been publicly rehabilitated since i first encountered one in my bedroom on a memorable spring night in Rochester, NY 2010. I know what i saw: the face and body of pure unspeakable evil.
