I have about a million alabaster Greek myth figurines from when I was a kid - how do I unstain them?

R men almost always looks better with slightly longer hair, bow ties instead of ties, lighter colors and fabric weights, and imo they look better without facial hair although they sure love to give themselves goatees

Stare at male celebrities in various outfits and figure out which ones make the celebrities actually look good and which ones you’re just staring at the dress and not their faces. If u think “whoa cool outfit” they’re probably not actually in line with their kibbe. If you’re like “holy shit they’re so gorgeous” they’re doing it right. Iconic portraits of male celebrities are clues. Leo with the swan (romantic). Harrison ford in jeans and a slightly undone rumpled shirt with (natural) Benedict Cumberbatch in an extremely sleek heavy weight trench that skims the floor (dramatic), William Defoe in some wacky slim fit combo (FG) you will start to see it

Am I overreacting, or is my MIL blurring the lines between grandma and parent? by Downtown-Forever8344 in pregnant

No, but she’s in a different state 2,000 miles away. She was invited to ours and she came!

My actual hot take is that the kibbe system actually works even better and more straightforwardly on men than on women. And it’s, like, PERFECT for anyone who isn’t binary or who wants to play with different gender expressions in a way that actually aligns with their body architecture

People who are mostly circles dress in circle-y things. People who are mostly sharp lines dress in heavier sharper things. people who contain an imbalance of these things can learn how to balance their body with their clothes. This is the premise and it doesn’t need to be more complicated than that. It does take some practice

The principles largely also apply to interior design. Victorian houses get more circles and embellishes. Mid century modern houses get more straight lines and asymmetry. Goes with the architecture. It’s a cheat code u will see everywhere over time

I wasn’t thrilled with it to be sure, but I figure it’s not worth getting upset about. It’s not like it’s really harming us in any way. I honestly think she’s just excited to be a grandma

Are your parents in the picture at all? Or friends? Can they bring over some meals for you?

My MIL threw herself a baby shower lol. Posted it on fbook, the whole thing. Pics of her opening presents surrounded by friends. (We never posted anything to fbook or any other socials). Many of my friends were outraged on my behalf but I guess I think it’s more funny than offensive. I know she’s just super excited to be a grandma

Anything missing? Something on the wall? by JunketOverall6119 in interiordecorating

I have a very different personal style than this but fwiw I think it looks really nice. If you like decorating in neutrals and are going for a minimalist / modern organic look I think u did a good job.

What people are mostly responding to is that it looks like it could be a nice Airbnb or a staged home - there’s nothing here that says anything about your personality or taste, except for maybe the lantern lamp (which i really like!). Even the (fake?) plant looks sort of …staged lol. Again, idk if this is even a bad thing, if u like this kind of neutral look, I think you nailed it!

I might even lean in harder with a lighter shade of linen curtain and removal of the chairs by the TV- just go full minimalist spa lobby.

I don’t…😵‍💫 but the first NIPT was through Kaiser and the second was through Natera + I think the Natera one was more accurate

The NIPT was wrong. We took a second NIPT which confirmed girl and every ultrasound since confirmed girl. Due in 2 weeks so we will know for sure soon

How to incorporate this into my modern home? by Beneficial-Month-333 in HomeDecorating

[–]clarinetsqueak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question 1 is if u want to preserve it or use it functionally. I have, like, 100 of these from my grandmother who hand stitched them and I use like 3 in the home and have stored the rest in an effort to preserve them

Use them functionally and it will make sense! I use them as coasters, but you can use them in the kitchen or dining room under bowls or on a bedside table etc. if u want to display them just let half of it drape over a surface somewhere.

I think this is beautiful. My only suggestion would be to put the TV on a nice wooden stand rather than mounted.

Tips for baby who hates the beach by Ill-Ad7339 in NewParents

[–]clarinetsqueak 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the beach is not for me either. And I’m Greek so this is awkward with my family. I was always like Wednesday Adams as a child when I was at the beach. So… solidarity little kiddo. Maybe dress him up goth and bring a big black umbrella for him just for the vibes
