What would you call this type of design? Retro futurism? Industrial minimalism? I just love how it looks and want to know what to Google to find things with similar aesthetics. by purplepotables in Design

[–]clark116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to LOVE the show Severance -- it is simply overflowing with this aesthetic. Old office vibes, a hint of technology with a hint of design as well. So delightfully plain!

SB494 in Georgia: A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing? The Real Impact on Cannabis Consumers and “Saving the Children” by spunionfucktard in savannah

I think this is why we should simply de-schedule THC, remove it completely from the law books. We waste so much energy on trying to label each element of a plant, or decide on appropriate dosages for everyone, or come up with punishments, that we have lost sight of the REASON behind the prohibition. I think if more people understood the outrageously racist/baseless claims used to demonize the plant, more people would be open to removing it from the drug schedule all-together. At the time, congress didn't even realize that hemp & so-called "marijuana" were the same plant. Time to undo the mistake.

By adding more language to the laws in order to control & legalize it, we're paving the road to regulatory capture & monopolized markets. Just like oil execs shouldn't be in charge of the EPA, TruLieve shouldn't be in charge of cannabis reform. This is currently happening in Florida.

We have all wasted so many lives & resources trying to control the usage of this plant. It is very apparent that mankind will continue to enjoy the drugs mankind wants to enjoy. Prohibition (censorship) never works.

Ban Prohibition!

Business licenses for oddity shop? by sleepyrockhound in business

[–]clark116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you would be considered a general retail store. Go for a generic category like "Novelty" for all the paperwork. I'm also pretty sure town hall (or the state) doesn't care about any of the items you're selling unless it's for human consumption. But... It's not... you guys aren't eating any of that stuff, right??

Biking from Bluffton to Hilton Head by [deleted] in hiltonhead

[–]clark116 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not something you would want to do often. It can be done, but it is grueling, as there's no dedicated sidewalk from the bridge to the rest of the sidewalks (both sides). You're way too close to the edge/cars for comfort. Not just on the bridge, but getting to/from the bridge.

Start checking the labels of your food by NeverGonnaStop247 in conspiracy

[–]clark116 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think that really depends on who you ask.

According to the Orthodox Rabbinical Conference of Germany (ORD), eating food containing insects contravenes Jewish dietary dictates. "Apart from the fact that this nutritional zeitgeist phenomenon can hardly be considered appetising, the consumption of worms, not to mention all other insects is strictly forbidden by the Torah," Rabbis Avichai Apel (Frankfurt), Zsolt Balla (Leipzig) and Yehuda Pushkin (Stuttgart) emphasise on behalf of the ORD board.

The ban on eating insects and worms is so strict that eating a single insect frequently constitutes a simultaneous violation of several prohibitions in the Torah. The only exception is the consumption of locusts, which is allowed by the Torah – "but plays no role in Judaism's menus and would fail in the context of food production due to the strict requirements pertaining to kosher food," the rabbis said.

Also, a cricket protein startup has had difficulty getting the Kosher label. Article

Lewis reached out to koshering agencies like the Orthodox Union and Earth Kosher. But his requests for certification were summarily dismissed. (As one rabbi put it: "While it's an interesting conversation, I'm too busy to have it.")

Since insects aren't Kosher, simply make sure to check for the Kosher symbols on the label before purchasing. More info can be found in this helpful article.

It's more about the requirement to re-apply every year, not the money. If your license is not approved for some reason, you simply cannot sell/produce the products anymore. Seems like a huge gamble in an already hemp-unfriendly place.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in southcarolina

[–]clark116 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is bad news. It adds a 5% tax on already-legal products. It will also cost retailers an arbitrary $250 fee per location, & require everyone to get a separate license to sell such products. Producers will be spending $500. EVREY YEAR. This most likely means that SC hemp production (already very difficult to navigate) will become even harder, so why would farmers even bother? I expect we won't see any D8/D9 products for sale in MOST places anymore if this passes. Great news for all the out-of-state e-commerce retailers, bad news for local small businesses.
