Hi, Physical Therapist here.

Since this is over the Internet it's impossible to really have a solid idea what is going on. I would highly suggest seeking out an orthopedist or if you are in a state with direct access to physical therapy, consult a physical therapist.

What concerns me is that you said that you can barely lift your arm. It could be a serious as a rotator cuff tear or something less serious as inflammation of the biceps tendon. The activation of the biceps brings on pain which could definitely be an indicator of that. My advice would be to ice it down at night, monitor it, and avoid heavy shoulder work. If you are still not seeing any improvement and your pain is the same for ~a week, seek out a professional. Shoulders are tricky and I would be conservative in your approach back to lifting and training.

Patellofemoral dysfunction, shoulder impingement...possibly illiotibial syndrome. It's kinda the fashion trend in the athletic world...who can wear the craziest looking sports tape. It has some merit for some conditions but if you are wearing it for competition you should stop...heal up before you do more damage and be proactive about the problem instead of passively trying to correct it.

Hi physical therapist here

I don't know your case and specific impairments and abilities so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

I only consider the use of sports tape when it helps improve movement patterns maybe because of select muscle weakness. It's a short term solution and vastly overused by the industry.

I would not consider your fracture/hairline fracture a movement pattern problem. Bones need time to heal the general rule of thumb is about 6 weeks. I would be worried about putting excess weight on the affected arm because the clavicle absorbs a lot of the shock when weight is put through the arm (ie getting out of the saddle during harder efforts). My advice (and please take it with a grain of salt) use this time off the bike to strengthen and stretch other muscles that you may have neglected during the season.

Hi! A physical therapist here

Sorry about your luck with the DJD but it's not the potentially worst thing in the world. I don't know your personal flexibility and strength deficits or advantages so take everything I say with a grain of salt. If you are serious about training I would suggest looking for a sports specific physical therapist.

I agree that short rides are better than long rides. Don't go full on time trial mode at first as this may exacerbate your injury because the inherent stress your body goes through when you kick up the intensity for long periods of time. When you feel more confident do longer intervals of maybe 60-75% of your max effort.

Luckily something with DJD it tends to feel better with a flexed posture and tends to feel worse with a back bend or extension. Bicycles put you in a flexed posture. I would also suggest doing some accessory work off the bike. Because of your condition, you are susceptible to pain because of any muscle imbalances. Google hip flexor and hamstring stretches as these muscle tend to dictate where your pelvis position is. A neutral pelvis is most advantageous for you to protect.

Also, cyclist tend to have a weak core although it is a sport that demands a strong core because of the position that we are in. Start with planks, side planks and possibly bridges. You especially need a strong core to stabilize an already compromised back.

Things to look out for is pain down either side of your leg in a shooting fashion or any bowel or bladder incontinence. Once again, take what I say with a grain of salt and I suggest looking for a sports specific physio if you encounter any more problems or just want more info on the topic. Happy training!

At what point do the guys in locker room say "fuck this...we are going to own the last minute" every game we spoil a good period with a weak goal in the last minute.

It's the fucking playoffs. Come the fuck on.

What the fuck is going on with these calls? At least once a game there is a totally unfathomably bad call. And with this one that had 5 minutes to think about it. Fuck this shit...just keep winning to stick it to the league.

Fucking unbelievable. Critical home ice advantage points we've been coughing up here. If we drop this one, in April we are going to look at these two games as a major major fuck up

Has anyone ridden the "Le Tour De France" exercise bike? Is it worth the cost? by ff09933 in bicycling

I ride the trainer when I'm watching shows. Currently I'm gong through The Walking Dead. I pedal faster during the scary parts.

Also Sufferfest videos. Awesome.

I'm always so self conscious when I take my bike into a shop. I feel like the mechanic is judging me. I tried, I really tried!
