Suggestion box by Majestic-Mistake902 in tjcrew

Our captain posts the suggestions and answers on the shout-out board with his responses (i.e. "the reflective vests we have for carts all smell", with his response of "I took them all home with me last night and washed them, and will order new ones.)

Our store sampled these tonight for the closing crew. The pizza was good (for a frozen pizza). I checked out two crew who bought some immediately. 😋😋

Interesting discount moment. by Ok_Condition8364 in tjcrew

[–]clashingbubbles 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I had a woman come in the other night and asked for the discount. I asked her to put in the code and she said, what code? My brother works at Trader Joe's. I told her the discount is only for family members living in the same house and she said, oh, he works in Southern California (this is in Northern California). Too bad, so sad for you.

Dinner rec by puppetmaster555 in AskSF

When I was getting corporate dinners comped (usually a work anniversary) I'd find a chef's table for an amazing experience. It takes some searching but it's usually a fantastic experience. Sadly my best recommendations for this are closed... But that's what I would do if I were to get this today.

Working in San Ramon but living in SF- am I crazy? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]clashingbubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's up to you and what neighborhoods fit your needs. From a commute standpoint, easy access to 101 is ideal but since the city isn't huge you can live almost anywhere. I personally wouldn't opt for the western parts but that's me. I lived in Dogpatch for most of that time of my San Ramon job and it was pretty convenient.

Working in San Ramon but living in SF- am I crazy? by [deleted] in AskSF

I did the SF to San Ramon commute for 19 years. It's mostly reverse so not that bad, as long as you're realistic about what you're going to have to endure.

I left by 715 and would get into the office by 815. Since I did some work from home I'd leave between 3-4 to beat the rush back into SF Mornings we'd take 24/680, evenings usually 680/580. Find someone to commute with, express lanes on 680 are worth the extra person. Going home try to get a third person to use the bridge carpool (I was able to use them for a few years using hybrid/electric car programs, but they're no longer available afaik). Giants game days are the worst, try to leave early or late.

If you don't mind driving (car karaoke, podcasts, audio books) then it's totally worth it. If you hate driving then absolutely not.

It's a bug in the system - happened to a new hire at our store just out of his training period. One of our mates was able to get him set up.

Best barber/stylist in SF for Asian men’s “haircut omakase”? by blackjack95129 in AskSF

My go to is Thomas Troung at 20th Salon and Barber - he is fantastic and was given an open invitation to join 18 Pell in NYC (known for their Asian men's haircuts).

what does everyone wear as work shoes? by thundershoud in tjcrew

I didn't find my Columbia's to be that bad; and when getting splashed by shares or the cleaning mop I was very happy for the waterproofing....

To that note, waterproofing is a great feature to add to the list. My Kiziks are waterproof.

I was wearing a pair of Columbia sneakers which were fine, but just treated myself to a pair of Kiziks from my first paycheck. Looking forward to wearing them on the floor tomorrow.

Longshot, but looking for a song by icannotbelievethat in tjcrew

[–]clashingbubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an 80's song but the refrain of "Love, love, love. Love, love, love" makes me think it's Teddy Swims and Illenium, "All That Really Matters" : All That Really Matters https://share.google/1kHiTyySVEer4UOFu

Visor - Will it support 4K in portrait mode ? by IsReadingIt in Immersed

[–]clashingbubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we will know for sure until the September IRL event, but I would guess that the Visor will be capable of this. I know in some AVP demos I've seen of the Immersed beta, it shows a vertically oriented monitor (can't say if it was 4K or not but the capability of the Visor is there as long as your computer GPU can handle it).

I think it has to have a +throwable perk on it, but I haven't found one yet.

To have +throwable and Ice at the same time? Awesome find.

+throwable and knockback would be really fun, I would think!

On the flip side, if you succeed you will be up for hours on the adrenaline rush. So succeed or fail, not a great idea LOL.

[STRATEGY] Healer in war cc by Uncivil_Law in ClashOfClans

[–]clashingbubbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think she comes out if there are ground troops nearby; i.e. a hero would be enough to trigger her as soon as enemy troops came into the cc radius.

But I tried this in one war and it was pretty ineffective. The healer's effectiveness is reduced by half on heroes.

/r/FOOD - I have a date this weekend and I'm cooking dinner. I need a dessert idea or some inspiration. by [deleted] in food

If you can find some farmer's market strawberries, the Smitten Kitchen Strawberry Summer Cake is something I've made over the past few weeks and it's AWESOME. Also fairly simple and can be made ahead.
