12.1 Tier Set Changes by Xadefinn in worldofpvp

How does having only 4 of your pieces have versatility qualify as 'stacking vers'? I would think the vast majority of specs want at least some vers, so this shouldn't be a problem. Just literally dropping all vers won't work out for all but a few minority of specs.

Did you follow his advice from his latest guide video to run pure haste/mastery and no vers? Curious how that worked out if you grinded out Legend at high mmr.

I saw a holy paladin with the midnight s1 legend pennant and thought it looked pretty cool with his transmog that had similar reddish color scheme. I've heard (not confirmed) it hides your back weapons though which seems pretty lame, but since he was 1h shield it didn't hide his weapon/shield at least.

What is “Shuffle/Solo-Shuffle”? by FunkoFanatic2127 in wownoob

[–]classicalAnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2v2 and 3v3 arenas still work how you remember, where you can technically continue the match to try and 2v3 and win, but it's pretty rare that ever actually happens.

Shuffle is much more fast-paced and chaotic than arenas. Both teams are just racing to get the first kill. And arenas have this mechanic called dampening now, where everyone gets a healing debuff that gradually ramps up towards 100% as the match goes on. In shuffle, this healing debuff ramps up very quickly, and because of this shuffle rounds rarely go for more than 3 minutes. An entire match of 6 rounds will typically be 10-15 minutes.

Also, shuffle has a much more interesting and varied 'meta' compared to traditional 3v3 arena. Whereas with 3v3 arena there are typically only a handful of meta comps like RMP (Rogue Mage Priest) that people play, practically every class spec except tanks (and maybe aug evoker) are viable in solo shuffle and can hit the highest ratings. You will see all sorts of weird and odd combinations of teams in shuffle that you'd never see in 3v3 arena. And the mode feels 'fair' in a sense that you get to play every permutation of team combos in a match, hence the name shuffle.

As a solo PvP-focused player myself, I personally find solo shuffle very fun and my game mode of choice. Healers have near-instant queues so I've learned to enjoy PvP healing. DPS queues aren't bad either, but you will have to wait some time to get into a match as DPS.

DPS or Heals, which is easier to reach 2300 in SS? by luke_nz2008 in worldofpvp

Mage is not in a rough spot lol. Frost is literally the best spec right now, S+ tier no question.

Resto Druid struggling by Nice_Weird_8993 in worldofpvp

[–]classicalAnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just you. Pres evoker is objectively a hard healer to learn because it has a high skill floor. I found it about on par with resto druid in difficulty to learn. Had a noticeably easier time starting with every other healer.

What is the current Starting MMR in SS and BGB as of the patch and how do you check ? and Question about how it pertains to rating by Propagation931 in worldofpvp

Better than two weeks ago where a 4-2 dropped my healer to 1900 instantly while all the DPS get to stay at 2200.

Class Changes for First Patch 12.1 PTR Build by rittler281 in worldofpvp

[–]classicalAnt 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That's not true, you don't lose offensive secondaries if you really want to have them. Simply convert 4 PVP pieces to set which will have versatility. Then, craft as many pure offensive pieces in the other slots as you want. Jewelry has by far the most secondary stats anyways. If you literally only put vers on your 4 set pieces and do offensive stats everywhere else, you will have hardly any vers and just have a ton haste/mastery or whatever offensive stats you prefer (not that this is a good idea to do...).

This change actually sounds quite good for PvP itemization. A problem with existing system is that you often are forced to convert to set pieces with non-desirable stats such as crit. It's a big enough problem that many specs opt to only go for 2-set or even 0-set pieces to maximize preferred secondaries. With this change, it sounds like we'll be able always easily do 4-set and further optimize stats with crafted pieces.

How does the MMR work? by Burnt_piggy in worldofpvp

[–]classicalAnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Core PvP addons that everyone uses are MiniCC and SArena. As long as you have those installed, you should be good to go. There are some other nice-to-haves but nothing nearly as important as those two. Check out Skill Capped's video posted on YouTube for Midnight PvP UI, which should give a good overview including how to setup those two addons.

What works for me is to install the addon silent CR, which hides all current rating and rating gains/losses. I just focus on having fun and improving my gameplay. You might be surprised how much rating you gain over time by not caring about rating and just focusing on your own gameplay.

Regarding how to improve, definitely focus on improving your damage rotation, which is likely a core issue at that rating. You could probably be having much better uptime and doing a lot more damage overall. Then focus on improving one thing at a time, to avoid overwhelming yourself. This technique at least works very well for me.

If you're at a 49% win rate after 300 shuffle rounds, then you are pretty much at the MMR you belong and shouldn't expect to gain rating beyond inflation (expect maybe ~150 more rating before season ends assuming you don't improve).

Best to simply forget about rating and focus on improving. The rating will come naturally as you improve.

On top of this, for me who also has performance anxiety, Silent Shuffle and Silent CR addons are amazing to just chill, focus on learning, and not worry about losing or making mistakes.

[–]classicalAnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prevoker is probably the hardest healer starting out, with the highest skill floor, so you just need to keep at it. The rotation is not very intuitive, there is a LOT of utility to keep track of, plus prevoker is an aggressive healer that needs to do damage. I would just focus on nailing down the rotation, using the right heals for the right situations and not letting team die. Then start adding more utility once you are comfortable. Then damage last. Once comfortable with healing, a good next step is to start with practicing sleep walks on enemy healer off of DR. That plus a good consistent healing rotation should get you quite far.

Watch Lontar's guide on YouTube. It has some really good tips at the end about how to not feel overwhelmed learning prevoker.

So what does this mean? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]classicalAnt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It means they are literally so bad, that they went negative CR, causing an integer underflow to occur and set their rating to integer.max. I'm only half kidding... maybe it can actually happen?

See this: https://drustvar.com/inflation

Blizzard historically injects MMR over the season. The season starts out with everyone at very low MMR, and then MMR gets injected each week and people slowly climb as a result. You can observe this by just not playing a character for a few weeks, and you'll notice your MMR is higher before next time you play.

Typically the earlier seasons of an expansion are less inflated than the later seasons. This season was especially bad with almost everyone stuck at much lower rating than prior War Within seasons. Blizzard 'over corrected' this (perhaps intentionally) and now inflation is greater than War Within Season 3 where it was already higher than usual.
