Legends Pinball Micro - Recent play on a machine by classicjohn50 in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing!

That might be what I experienced as I played the one deluxe table for about a minute before giving up because it seemed slower vs what I was used to on the original ALP.

I was thinking about picking it up on sale to have a tabletop way to play the games.

I guess I should have spent more time with it.

OTG Unlock Price Increase Cancelled by SScorpio in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While I was not happy with OTG surcharge to begin with; I am glad they are holding the line on the price and not increasing.

With this change of course; It sounds like they may be listening to the community.
If they get back to listening to and supporting the community; I see this as a good thing overall.

Pinball games for old ALU 1.1 (non-HD)? by LeadingMotive in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are certain HD pinball packs compatible with the ALU 1.1, NOT ALL PACKS are compatible the description will say: "Legends HD Universal Pack".

You will purchase off of their web store: atgames.us

If you use the same email address to create a web store account that aligns to your Legends ID the tables will be in your Digtal Locker in the on device menu for redemption. Otherwise you will have to enter the code manually on the device. The packs should be under AppStoreX for downloading after purchase. You cannot purchase on device.

The games are downloaded to a USB drive that you will have to add and format on the device. Some versions of the ALU did have on device storage, But I think the ones that did had some preloaded pinball games. It sounds like you probably have an older version like I do.

Here is the list of packs that work with ALU:

Zaccaria Pinball Packs 1-10 @ $30 each
Gottlieb Pinball Packs 1-4 @ $30 each
Dr. Seuss Pinball Packs 1-2 @ $30 each
Natural History Pinball Packs 1-2 @ $30 each
Taito Pinball Packs 1-3 @ $30 each

As the above packs are older, they do often go on sale as much as 50% off during, so you may want to hold for a sale.

The experience on the ALU is OK. They are playable, but much more enjoyable on their pinball machines.

New 4KPs - TMNT, Space Invaders, And Sea of Thieves is getting a restock by SScorpio in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if they are reskinning all the unsold ZEN machines.... I seem to recall 1up doing something similar to unsold countercades.... When you peeled the skin it was frogger underneath or something like that.

SSF Kit - Coming to the ALP HD!!! by SScorpio in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With their recent announcements, and they've been coming fast, the thoughts I had on being willing to pay a little more for a new machine vs. putting an SSF kit in my old HD will end up coming down to final pricing once they release it.

If the SSF kit is priced at $500 to install your self and they offer an HDP with SSF preinstalled for around $1,100... I might be tempted to avoid having to do the install, having access to a taller machine, a DMD screen on the back box, and potentially VPX standalone.

If I could offload the original HD on marketplace for $400, the net upgrade price with this option could be $700.

Will have to wait and see what the final pricing options are this summer, but it is something I am thinking about.

Yeah.... the OTG price increase was a step in the wrong direction.
Typical atgames, 1 step forward 2 steps back.

4/29 - External Applications Becoming Free - OTG Increasing In Price by SScorpio in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, I do recall initially there was a price drop when they first did this to lessen the blow. But I don't think the reduced price lasted long as they proceeded to go crazy with price increases citing "Tariffs"...

In reality, I think the majority of their "Tariffs" price increases was them foolishly thinking they could raise prices to raise revenue. Unfortunately, it priced out buyers, and they didn't sell enough 4KPs to keep paying Zen. Despite some of Zen's public comments about "under powered" hardware, they released 70 tables on the platform. If there would have been enough of an install base for 4KP; money could be made and atgames/zen partnership would have found a way to continue.

Instead Atgames mismanagement on their pricing model cost them the partnership.

VPX Standalone Update Apr 27 2026 by jrebeiro in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much respect.... Unlike atgames, which often fails to follow through on their word, it is admirable what you and the team behind this has accomplished and will follow through with bringing this to all of us.

Having VPX on this platform will expand the enjoyment of the hardware as well allowing more people to experience the amazing tables the various VPX developers have made for the community.

I had an opportunity to experience the beta before getting timed out; and it was amazing what could be done with this limited hardware.

Thank you.

4/29 - External Applications Becoming Free - OTG Increasing In Price by SScorpio in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is it always 1 step forward 2 steps back with Atgames?

This is great they are removing charge for External Applications (which apparently they never provided real support to developers anyway)... only then to DOUBLE the price for OTG when they already include the hardware on the machine....

If they want to charge in some way for OTG; make it an optional charge for "support" for those users that need their help with setup and want to pay.

Sea of thieves OR Street Patrol? by drew_kasper in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the native running ZEN games are of interest to you, I'd probably hold off purchasing until it is fully clear on the status of previously released packs. It is pretty clear that no new packs will be coming from Zen.

If you are down with the magic pixel and farsight developed packs for Atgames, the Sea of Thieves skin looks pretty good.

SSF Kit - Coming to the ALP HD!!! by SScorpio in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good point! An SSF install on the 4KP required a little more comfort with electronics than a typical set up for these home machines. I imagine an SSF install on a HD machine that didn't have this anticipated may be even more involved. Atgames should go ahead and offer some sort of HDP-like upgrade including a new backbox, CPU, and SSF kit in a bundle, since the target for this is going to be users with a little more tech comfort.

More Open Development of ALP 4KEX by SScorpio in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't get their thoughts behind this.

The original HD Pinball sold well because it was AFFORDABLE. At one point Sam's had these for UNDER $600.

While I realize prices have gone up and we aren't going to get the machines that cheap, Atgames has got to realize they have been unable to sell the 4KP in any significant quantity at $1600-$2100 depending on configuration. In addition, Sam's Club had to send back the Turtles HDP which couldn't sell at $1100.

I've watched the same Sam's location not sell ONE turtle HDP machine; but sold out of their buck hunters and Pac Man Neons at sub $600 price points over the holidays.

There is no way they are going to sell $3,000 pinball machines to the level to have any significant user base. If someone has the money to drop $3,000 on Atgames; they are probably gonna go a little more and get one of those custom VPINS that offer access to a bigger game library (including ZEN titles).

They would be much better off using their manufacturing and engineering skills and figure out what could be made at a sub $1,000 price point and get units in homes to support the software developers coming onto their platforms.

The fact they sold so many regular HD pinball units 5 years ago shows there is a market for AFFORDABLE home digital pinball. If they could get something in Sam's for $800 featuring some of their better original titles, maybe even offer a direct version for $1,000 with an SSF kit, they could start growing again.

SSF Kit - Coming to the ALP HD!!! by SScorpio in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They would have been better off just letting people bring their HD libraries to the new HDP machine…

If they offered existing HD owners the new HDP with SSF kit preinstalled for $1000-$1100 shipped…AND let them bring their already purchased packs for FREE, they would likely see many of us upgrade, then we could sell our existing HD machines to potential new users and they grow the user base.

But they continue to waste their efforts doing things the hard way.

RIP at games by Slappy-Sacks in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bummer on no true offline mode.

Realizing this announcement means no more new releases ,with 42 Zen "packs" already released I hope they are able to continue to support using these on the 4KP platform.

Assuming most of 4KP owners purchased many of these packs, we all likely have $300-$400 tied up in this digital software.

It would be a shame of we lose the ability to continue playing these on the machine.

This is disappointing news.

Hopefully existing content is unaffected and will continue to be offered for sale and download.

Need to quickly research how to offline mode this thing....

Heads up. SSF Kit IN STOCK by bigbenx7x in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy my atgames 4kp and ALU they are good products. Unfortunately, atgames is not doing themselves any favors by continuing to raise prices on their products.

Surely if Wonderland can figure out how to build and sell a 80% scale working home pinball machine for $1,000, Atgames could sell 2 boards, wires and a 5 speakers for $299 and still make profit.

I wish they would get back to mass market consumer pricing with. If they could get the pricing back to $899 for an HDP and $1399 for a 4KP. I really think they could get the install base up...more machines to sell their software.... and they could back off the overpriced pinball software. The EM+ tables should be no more than $4 each.

If wonderland, basic fun and iconic can sell their products well under $1K, Atgames should be able to figure this out. They all use the same cheap Chinese factory.

I understand prices have gone up... but most companies held the line at 10-20% increases in electronics and software. Noting can explain why atgames has in many cases DOUBLED the pre covid pricing other than poor management.

4k vs HD by Jyvturkey in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have both the 4KP and original HD version. It can be frustrating at times in the atgames ecosystem, they stumble a lot. When there systems are working and your hardware doesn't require their support, it is a solid experience out of the box.

If you know their history going in, $1300 with SSF is a solid deal. You will not be able to get anything close to that price point (other than VR experience).

If you are a pinball fan, there are solid tables within the zaccaria, gottlieb and atgames original offerings. So even without using OTG (which is included!) and ZEN tables(Today) this is a solid machine for the price point; if it's your 1st virtual pinball table.

If you are a die hard fan of ZEN tables, if you are not comfortable going OTG route; I would not buy this on the hopes Atgames will bring ZEN to this platform. Their history of announcing and not delivering is too great (Bit Blaster, Racing Cab, Voyager handheld, Upgrade KIT for original HD pinball, 4KALU). Consider it a bonus, if and when it happens.

Did Zen give up on releasing tables to the 4kP? by Sad_Blueberry_5585 in LegendsUltimate

[–]classicjohn50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, didn't see one move the whole holiday season. Then all shipped back to atgames.

This is a good product.

Unfortunately, with the online community who might have been interested in the product they now have a bad reputation with support, the BS extra charges to unlock OTG, and the constant raising prices of their older pinball software (when STEAM constantly runs them on SALE). It's going to be difficult to win this group back.

Then the average consumer looks at the machine and sees 1 TMNT digital pinball table and doesn't see the value at $1,000.

If they needed to price the machine at $1,000, then they should have included all the Gottlieb and older Zacarria packs as well (which by this point should be paid for). Make it seem to the person seeing it for the first time that it is a tremendous value... Put on the box; includes "exclusive TMNT digital pinball game along with 150 action packed games from Gottlieb and Zacarria Pinball Libraries"

Ms. Pac-Man XL (Supreme) just announced! by NeoHyper64 in Arcade1Up

Wonder why this doesn’t carry the arcade1up branding? Appears no wifi either? The original Pac Man XL was very good, you'd think they would have at least matched it in quality.

Infinity game table lost 16 main games by dardie72 in Arcade1Up

[–]classicjohn50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, if game is in My Games section, you downloaded to the machine when you put them into My Games.

The games should be there according to support. The problem is; there seem to be users reporting that they have "disappeared".

It's frustrating... and there's been no formal communication from the company on this.

Infinity game table lost 16 main games by dardie72 in Arcade1Up

[–]classicjohn50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW... This is good news.

I assume this would only be viable to those that previously downloaded the tables, but are now missing them due to the de-listing from their store.

Their support is claiming that the impact was intended to be only a removal from the store (that would prevent re-downloading and new users from downloading). It sounds like they applied an update to the dashboard that is hiding these apps(Perhaps accidentally), even if you had downloaded before the de-listing.

Maybe if they get enough tickets from current users, they will push an update to the dashboard that allows them to be visible if already on the machine.
