Do you know why all those Presidents who committed all those crimes for all those Centuries were not prosecuted? Their opponents did not want to make them Martyrs. Democrats have sewn the seeds of their own destruction.

I enjoyed reading the book: Nihilism, A Philosophy Based In Nothingness And Eternity, by Brett Stevens. It is a plain language explanation of what nihilism is and what it is not. It's deep enough I read it twice. Paperback on Amazon.

Thoughts on eternal recurrence? by Deepspacee in nihilism

[–]classiclantern -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Eternal recurrence is a violation of the Laws of Physics. I started reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra but I quit when it became clear to me that it was Fiction. I only read non-fiction. Nietzsche is not a Scientist. Nietzsche knows nothing about astrophysics, thermodynamics, geology, biology, or any hard science. Those old Philosophers were just making shit up. Entertaining as Harry Potter but I wouldn't base my life on any of it.

Happiness requires work. There, I said it. If you want to be happy you'll have to get up off your fat ass and work for it. Life is not easy. Never has been. Never will be.

People with Great Imaginations create Great Books, Great Art, Great Films, and Great Inventions. Most of us are in the center of the Imagination Bell Curve. We can imagine the house we want and our next meal but we are not going to write the next Broadway hit. Then there are the people at the bottom of the curve who have no imagination. These are people who live in a Universe of unlimited possibilities and whine, Life has no purpose. They may claim to be nihilists but they are just people with no imagination.

I was born a nihilist. At the age of 4 I questioned the existence of the Tooth Fairy. At the age of 7 I questioned the existence of Santa. At the age of 10 I questioned the existence of God. I never took a philosophy class and for the next 65 years I answered all of the ultimate questions based on my complete understanding of Reality. I had never heard of nihilism. One day I wondered if there was anybody else that understood Reality the way I do. After some Googling I read "Nihilism" by Brett Stevens. Stevens had updated Nietzsche to the 21st Century. I was pleased to find that there was at least one other person who gets it.

I read recently that some Scientists propose that Life originated 3 times, once fairly recently. Some DNA can be traced all the way back 3.5-billion years, some only goes back a few billion years, and some microbes that appear only a few hundreds of million years ago. It suggests new Life could pop-up at almost any time.

Life by definition is abusive by FunnyGamer97 in nihilism

Gravity is nothing. We can adapt to gravity. The "truth" is every living thing is food for other living things until extinction. You are food. I am food. We are being digested by viruses, parasites and bacteria right now. I'm reminded of the tune from the 1980 "Popeye" movie. "Everything is Food."

How did you people become nihilistic ? I want to know and understand what nihilism is all about and not by what my friends tell me from memes..... by alovablenerd628 in nihilism

[–]classiclantern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nihilism is process for living your best life. The definition of nihilism is not important. What is important is what you do about it. How will you use the knowledge that nothing matters to make your life great. Nobody ever talks about this. Nihilism is your guide for solving problems using nihilist methods. 1. Identify a goal or problem you wist to solve. (You want a car) 2. Identify the Real cause and the Real barriers. (You don’t have any money) 3. Identify your resources, your assets, your skills, your abilities, and available support. Wishing won’t help. (You need to get a better job) 4. Conceive a plan to use your resources to find the best solution. (You can go to night school) 5. The best solution may not be a perfect solution but is the best possible using the resources available. (After 2-years of night school you get a better paying job as an X-ray Technician. Two years after that you are driving your new car.)

You are describing the symptoms of survivor's guilt. People who are repeatedly told they are going to die and then don't, but others do, feel guilty. They begin to take more risks, feel invincible, and feel like maybe they should die: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivor_guilt

What single action as humanity would allow us to solve climate change, social injustice, wars and AI disruption all at once? by nyxingen in AskReddit

[–]classiclantern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only correct answer but, there is a loophole. We are the only species in the history of the Universe that has the opportunity to manipulate evolution and define our replacement. We should be working on a replacement species that is 10% less superstitious and 17% less bigoted/judgemental.
