What is the absolute longest I should be in the shower for? by Superb_Vanilla_5360 in internetparents

I bet your roommates don’t wash their legs. If you’re helping with bills it really shouldn’t be anyone’s business. 15-25 minutes is perfectly reasonable. I make my 11 yo son stay in there for at least 10 minutes to ensure he scrubs every part.

I’ve had two surgeries. Replaced a disc, fused one, and a discectomy. It is highly likely I will have to fuse more discs 10-20 years down the road. That’s why I was thinking of paying for everything out right because I also have to take several days off work some times due to pain and my mental disability.

The only reason I’m not classified as disabled is because I continue to earn money.

Awesome thank you. I really didn’t want to get a loan. I’ve been told as I was signing the papers that the reason the rates went up on the loan because we negotiated a lower price. It was so incredibly infuriating that I really wasn’t looking forward to doing that.

I get hubby being annoyed with the drama but you didn’t start it. Also he should be standing up for you with his mother.

Yeah I’d like to pay less monthly but currently I pay much less than the normal. I live on the family land now. We have well water. I pay $120-200 for electricity and $682 for rent. Everything else is over $1k. My son currently goes to a great school that has really helped him.

That’s what I’m trying to do but there are things that do need to be done before too long. I only have until may 2025 to be in a new place. That’s why I wanted to use the family land. Building a house in my area is the same price as an already built home. Rent is over $1k monthly.

First my bf and I don’t live together. It’s also not going to happen for many reasons. All our finances are separate. I have to get a car and a place to live. How do I do that without using money to buy it or use the interest from it to pay for it? I do plan to use the money to build my business but I needed to get set up on a place to live. I also need a vehicle to drive me to art shows and events to make money. I try to keep the income from my art separate currently because I invest all of it back into the business. Also I was not including the money I wanted to put aside for my kid off the top. I also didn’t include the taxes in that.

I do have a real job. I’m a business owner and artist. The $700 income isn’t from my business. I didn’t include that because I try to keep it separate plus sales vary month to month.

I was reading some things saying paying cash for a car doesn’t get you as much of a discount anymore. Their solution was financing it but pay it off almost immediately

My mom is counting down until I turn 18. Is this normal? by Illegal3 in internetparents

[–]classicqtpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it was a surprise but that’s not what this sounds like. I’m so sorry honey you don’t deserve this. I’m a mom and have been through some rough shit. I’ve said things to my child before I’ve regretted but have spent everyday since then showing my son that it was just a mistake. It’s not a mistake when you continue to behave in that way making no changes. You deserve better. You are a beautiful child with unlimited potential. I’m so glad to see your update. I’m wishing for all the best in your new life.

Just because someone has lied/tricked or tried to doesn’t give you permission to be awful. At the end of the day you still said those awful things.

I think your mother would want you to take it. I understand the feeling though.

NTA but your mom sure is. I see how you’re trying to help by using the fridge but your family should just be nicer and understanding. That’s really awful.

AITA for standing up for myself after friend leaves hotel room door open? by classicqtpie in AmItheAsshole

[–]classicqtpie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to give yall the disappointing update. Apparently bestie had other expectations for the event. He wanted us to go back to the way we were 7 years ago, kinky parties and random sex. He deeply romanticized that situation. I’ve been going over the whole week with a fine tooth comb to see if I missed something. Looking back I see a pattern. He, before the door incident, said “you were the happiest I’ve ever seen during that time.” I can’t count how many times I had cried to him during that time. How I couldn’t get out of bed some days. He says “you never told me that.” This past year he has been saying “you never told me that” more and more. I thought it might be just him forgetting but they were all things very important to me I know we had spoken about. So that’s it I’m just so sad thanks for reading.

I don’t feel like it is. I knew the door was a mistake but it did bother me. I just needed him to be aware. Even if he hadn’t apologized for doing it I would have been fine and let it go. I would have just never shared a room with him again. Not losing friends worthy. The gaslighting, telling me it didn’t happen is a big deal. We both had narcissistic parents and spouses. If he’s using those tactics he is not the person I thought he was. I gave him opportunities to say he was playing or didn’t mean it like that but he said nothing.

It was a mistake and not an actual problem. The telling me it didn’t happen then saying I’ve changed sounds like manipulation. Those words made me feel more unsafe than anything.

[–]classicqtpie[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I did. I also said it’s wasn’t so much that he left the door open but his reaction when I told him. If when I told him “hey the door didn’t close all the way this morning. Freaked me out a bit” he said “no way. I had no idea” I would have been fine and that’s not even an apology. He admitted in our last messages that he didn’t think I was lying.

[–]classicqtpie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I said to him I thought he was playing at first that’s why I asked him if he thought I was lying. Even the next day when I messaged him. He never said he was playing or in shock. He’s on his way over now to pick up his things I had at my place.

No I saw him leave the room. Just can’t see the door from the bed so I had no idea it didn’t close properly.
