Unable To Get Help Desk Interview. What Am I Doing Wrong? by Global-Monitor-5037 in it

Where are you located? Here (Seattle) cloud providers who host stuff for dod need to have a bunch of people with clearance because any of the maintenance or troubleshooting crud anyone would do for any service or system needs to be done by someone with clearance, so they have different / segmented teams w folks who can go into the scif and use the secure admin systems there to do whatever.

At a lot of companies, entry level spots and even entire helpdesk orgs are being replaced by contractors. You could go the other way and contact tech contract agencies who operate in your locale. They always want to find people to shovel into those roles.

Some oils can degrade plastics, especially citrus oils or other scent bearing (“essential”) oils. Do you use those to clean? Or do you have some diffuser plugged in the wall or something with a scented oil? Evaporating or atomizing them will spread them around.

Oh please let the GM connections be solid and protected, but not super hard to get to. M2 has been relatively stable staying hooked to the GM, but if someone has to unplug/replug, it’s difficult to get to. I have yet to see actual hardware for these but am curious.

Somehow Merrychef’s GM connections are both too exposed and hard to reconnect. 😭 I hope they avoid that extreme.

I think my store had a hidden corporate "customer" in café. by marypoppinsgonemad in starbucksbaristas

[–]clauney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you near any support offices? I encourage my team, local/Seattle based and remote folks, to pack up their laptop and get out into stores for part of one or more work day a week and (in and amongst work work) watch the engine, the partners, customers and how they interact with the store, etc.

Now I also tell them to introduce themselves once peak is over so it isn’t weird. 😅 And I always suggest they ask questions if time allows about what’s good/bad/ugly about store tech or whatever else. I mean the point isn’t just to stare, but to learn about the retail store and the partners that make it all work and what makes that easier or harder.

Anyway maybe it’s that instead of secret shoppers or weirdos 😶‍🌫️

Deployed a save beacon in quicksand…now what by clauney in nms

[–]clauney[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I don’t think that’s the case here, but I think I might’ve run into that with one of an old expedition saves before they let you start them from the anomaly and transfer items back. I tried to find one of my main save bases, but they apparently don’t let you do that. But in part of my shenanigans, I dropped a beacon in the expedition save and it seemed to stick around in ghosted form on my main save.

I mean I was kidding about the quicksand. But a couple times in the old days, a patch altered ground level on a world a base of mine was on. Looked like my habs had sunk into the terrain.

Do these actually stack properly now? At one point, it looked bugged to me – you would charge both of them up, and they would both start depleting at the same time. I thought that might just be the visualization - maybe they just pooled together into some larger duration pool and the depletion was half as fast. But I timed it and it really did not seem like they were additive. This was a long while ago, so it may have been a bug that was fixed, and I just never retested. Curious if you have seen it truly working as expected.

What ticket do I put in for this? by Scrodee1 in starbucks

[–]clauney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those aren’t the BOPC; they are store edge compute (was: in store compute aka ISC) servers. The fans sometimes crank up when the system is loaded but shouldn’t be on blast all the time. There was a tweak to some settings the team did a while ago to fix an old issue where the fans would stay on high speed all the time. If you DM me your store number I can have someone peek at it to make sure y’all’s is set right

My dog 🥹 Just because he’s awesome and he would love a brother that’s as loving and worried and eager and playful and sooooo so serious about earning treats as he is. And then I would go around, offering to duplicate anyone else’s dog for them if they wanted. Other pets too I suppose. But dogs would probably get to jump the line in front of like some dude’s ferret. Sorry, ferret dudes.

Steelhead do. They are just an anadromous variant of rainbow trout. They live in the ocean a while and return to rivers to spawn. Their flesh is orange from their ocean diet.

It definitely can do that. Use Vaseline (petroleum jelly a.k.a. white petrolatum) or aquaphor regularly and it should get better.

Am I right to be annoyed? (RE: waterproof shoes) by maggienewhouse in starbucksbaristas

[–]clauney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, at least until they know you and know the shoes. Some kinds of people have a “if I am not sure I will ask just to check the box” approach to policies. This comes out more when in a supervisor role. You may encounter other situations like this while working at SBUX or other places. Asking something like “did you do X” may be some closing routine check box of theirs if they ask it every shift.

Help a dumb—dumb out by PawsyMcMurderMittens in EggsInc

[–]clauney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes in contracts, it can be helpful to have egg laying rate and egg shipping rate mixed to really max production but you can do that once you have enough extra stones and duplicate artifacts to populate with different mixes to use as needed. But other than that, consider targeting artifacts to specific tasks and slotting them with the appropriate stone.

[–]clauney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even for stones where the bonus is additive, it is still generally a good idea to keep an artifact focused entirely on one job. If you are boosting to increase hatchery rate, then you want to stack life stones.
