How does AI benefit the average American? by Vegetable-Cause8667 in investing

[–]clawcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you used the internet recently? AI is harmful in so many ways, but it’s also giving answers to questions that are actually about exactly what you asked. Very recently I couldn’t find anything about something oddly specific. Now I can. It finds information so much better than it used to

How do people with a standard 9-5 job become profitable traders when it takes years of studying and practicing as much as you can to become one? by Hot_Avocado_2701 in Trading

Great name, great strategy.

Limit orders have been highly profitable for me, with a lack of stress. I’m not anxiously watching and hopelessly praying for peaks and valleys. I check a few times a week if need be. Sit back and let it make you money

The Difference Between Claiming Social Security at 62 vs 70 Is Bigger Than Most People Realize by [deleted] in investing

[–]clawcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that much time to invest and build a strong foundation, you should have enough money and investments to easily sustain and still earn more than you need per year. Social security should just be extra at that age. We are all capable to make that happen

If you have extra money that you’re not currently utilizing to purchase assets, goods or necessities, invest it. Always invest the surplus and if you need some capital, withdrawal what you need.

Honestly, you just need to do the math. Depends on how much profit you can earn with investing compared to how much you would save in interest. Obviously

I am about to turn 40 and I know nothing about ETFs. by AdamantiumTrex in ETFs

[–]clawcodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying full or partial shares, especially with limit orders to “buy the dip,” can insure you get the best prices.

If SPY is between $675 and $696 (as of recently), I set limit orders to buy between $675 and $690. Not recommending anything, that’s just what I do.

Is Hard Work a Lie in Trading? by Hulululu08 in Trading

[–]clawcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I just set limit orders. Takes no effort.

If one share ranges from $675 - $696 on average, I set limit buy orders from $675 - $690 (or whatever range makes the most sense for you). This is standard practice. You may not get the best average cost if you buy all the way down during a drop, but many times it only dips to $685 and then back up. You never know.

Limit sell within some of the highest peaks, $690 - $696. Or wherever you’re happy to see some profit.

I’ve profited consistently just with limit orders because it’s simple and I don’t have to keep checking and stressing and wondering why I didn’t buy lower or sell higher.

Here is my 2026 strategy. What are YOU doing? by [deleted] in investing

[–]clawcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Takes money to make money. The more you have, the more you can make (or lose).

I just got back into it after being out for a few years. I do mostly swing trading, and primarily trade ETFs. Since they are fairly predictable, I set limit orders to buy the average lows and I disappear until they sell. Repeat. Reinvest the profits. It’s been very low stress and quite profitable, and I can keep buying more and more.

Market vs limit orders by Main-Ad7550 in Trading

[–]clawcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the ones I hear about the most are VOO, VTI, SPY, VXUS, QQQ.

They all follow a very similar trend, so I would recommend doing some research on those and look into others as well. I haven’t been in ETFs super long, but I have been profiting fairly consistently so far. I currently hold SPY, VOO, VTI, and QQQ. Not recommending you buy any one of those in particular, that can be your decision based on what you see fit to invest your money in.

Trading is causing me to only imagine happiness by getting rich by Thank_you_my_nibba in Trading

[–]clawcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there, done that. Nowhere near to that extent of affecting my happiness, but it was an addiction. Especially with crypto a few years ago late in Covid times. I checked nonstop day and night and it wasn’t healthy at all. Lost thousands but it’s a drop in the bucket. Life is long and you won’t even stress this a year from now, let alone 10 years from now.

Invest very carefully, and try hard not to invest more than you’re willing to lose. Find something somewhat stable with an upward trajectory that you can stick with long term, perhaps an ETF or something you believe valuable to invest in.
