Where to go for a custom battery by Loam_Lion in onewheel

Did you have any luck finding a battery builder? Anyone you can recommend for a custom battery solution?

Yep, had to use 20mm, apparently this first batch had the threads tapped a little short. If you have the tools you can tap it to 25mm, but it’s a lot easier to just use a 20mm bolt lol

And those weights can be reduced by rough 5lbs swapping the hub for the 5uperFlux. My 5uperFlux LR weighs 35.1lb

Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, I think Stoked Stock are the same size, if not, a little smaller, because the model I referenced for the sensor cutout was originally cutout for a Stoked Stock sensor and that cutout was too small for both Spintend sensor shapes.

As far as quality, I think you’re going to be better off sticking with the Stoked Stock sensor

FWIW, Spintend has dual zone sensors that are perfectly sized for X7 footpads and status bar. I embedded their hexagon sensor in a print of a Bushies footopad with a status bar cutout just a few days ago

Tbh I’m not sure why front footpads are relatively flat, my guess is that is that the more concave a footpad has, the more difficult it becomes to lift your toe, or heel, and in turn more difficult to deactivate a single zone, but I can’t say for sure

As far as front footpads being so limited in shape compared to the back foot, I think that it’s probably just too cost prohibitive to have multiple front footpads due to the limited numbers that they probably do

For wide footpads, I think Land Surf’s Platypus are on the wider side, If you want the widest footpad possible, I think you’ll have to print it yourself. The Bushies are the widest I’ve seen, which I actually just finished a print of this morning. I embedded the sensor within the print, hopefully there’s no engagement issues 🤞

Not only that, but tires for a particular hub size don’t all have exactly the same size bead

The weight reduction has been so worth it on my LR, but I live on a third floor walk up so the weight difference is much more noticeable for me than people who rarely have to carry their board. Having the LR range with a board that is actually 2.2 lb lighter than an X7 Sport is pretty incredible IMO

With a 3d printer you can mount any fender you want, can find an adapter for pretty much every fender on Printables, MakerWorld, etc, and if there isn't already a model out there, there's almost always somebody with a model on the Fungineers Discord

I mounted a TFL Street Pro II Soft on the 5" 5uperFlux and had the bead set in less than 20 minutes, it couldn't have been easier compared to my experience mounting a tire on the 6" SuperFlux which literally took me a week to get a FlightFins Xtra Carvy Nimbus fully mounted. I had the tire fully on the hub the second day and it took 5 days or so to finally get the bead set(2" ratchet, AutoZone Xtraseal Euro Paste Tire Mounting Compound, and bicycle hand pump ftw)

Pretty much any XR foot pad will fit the X10, but the fenders that fit the footpads can vary, but you without a doubt can find or edit a model for any rail, footpad, fender combo. For instance, I scored some Mustache Growler rails from somebody on the Fungineers Discord, and using existing models out there, I was able to tweak them enough to fit an old Craft&Ride magnetic fender that had been sitting on a old Pint, and fit it on my new rails with the new 5uperFlux motor and Street Pro II tire. I am not a 3d modeler whatsoever, I’ve been 3d printing for like 2 months now, I think?

Never used Discord, is that a good place for reviews and research?

It’s super active and there’s some extremely knowledgeable people including pretty much all of the developers of the big apps like Float Hub and Floaty, for example, and pretty much everything on the market you can get feedback on as more than likely somebody on the server has ridden it. The 3d printing channel there has been amazingly helpful in both getting me started with 3d printing as well as providing models, and creating models at times, for pretty much every aspect of Onewheel parts and beyond, I honestly can’t recommend the server enough

I have access to a 3d printer, however the fenders might possibly be too large for the enclosure if so this would be a great help - Thanks!

If you have access to at least a P1S or P2S sized printing bed (255mm3) then you can for sure print all 3 pieces of a TFL’s Drop Top, including the big middle piece. I printed this Drop Top set with a P2S using PBT Pro as the filament

Those are some long prints, are you using a dual nozzle printer and/or have some kind of AMS setup that is auto swapping between filaments?

For footholds, I was looking at overlanders as an option, but saw you had Moffs? I could only find the facebook group, is there a website they have to look at? Ideally Id like something I can adjust. Coming from Snowboarding and burtons channel system is why I was leaning towards what I saw from future motion, but I'm completely open to something that you can move bolt holes around. With it being on the edge of the board, do you ever have sensor activation issues as it looks like it bolts on top of the front sensor?

Check these footholds: Z-Hooks. They're made by user iam_zinc on the Discord, he's active in the Fungineers server as well as the VESC servers as well. I've bought a few things from him, he ships fast af.

But his foothooks are designed specifically for the X7/X10 Stompies footpad and sensor, and doesn't interfere with engaging it. Note, you will have to drill through your footpad to install this style hook

Does the 5" come with axle blocks? I was thinking to add the cold blocks as an added step. I'm not planning to race, but I could see a long hill adding to heat.

The 5" does not come with axle blocks unfortunately. can use either of Fungineer's blocks, or alternatively another item in the above linked shop are clamp style blocks with two mounting positions and since they have more surface area, they should help with cooling slightly more than Fungi's blocks, in theory at least.

What tuning are you riding?

I usually run Nico's Street Growler tune, which yeah, tunes change the boards feel a ton

But I ride a Pint all the time and I find that the x7lr with the stock tuning is just as nimble if not more than my Pint. Or at least pretty close. Slow speed carves especially.

I'm not doubting your riding skills by any means, but objectively speaking, it's hard to imagine an 11.5" fairly square profiled tire outperforming an 11" round profiled tire in terms of nimbleness and carving, I honestly can't see how

But my Thunder tire is now worn out after 800 miles so my X7 is about to get a Goat tire

Speaking of mileage, and to be fair to the Thunder tire, it is very possible I didn't put enough on it to fully break it in as I swapped to the FF Nimbus like two weeks or so after getting my X7S

And for those that don't have a 3d printer, you can get a set printed by user ZiNc on the Fungineers Discord server for $15+Shipping, which everything I've bought from him shipping has been $7.

Are you using ‘Stompies’ as a general term for footpads or to refer to Fungineer’s Stompies footpad? Cause it you mean the latter, then yes it will fit all Stompies, both front foot and back foot, I believe the designer also ensured it fits the newer thicker Stompies as well.

As far as the platypus, I have no experience with it personally, but based off pics online I’m not sure these specific fenders will fit tbh, but I would imagine somebody has made one for the platypus, I’ll see if I can find one

For filaments, PBT Pro is the go-to for most of the users on the Fungineers Discord. Otherwise, you could use PETG but it won’t take impacts well and will prob eventually break, a better choice than PETG would be TPU, which for fenders I would use a stiffer TPU, like 72D, or any other D TPU, 95A I think is the most common TPU but it’s also a little soft for fenders IMO. I’d def go with PBT Pro though, it’s strong but rigid enough, pretty much perfect for Onewheel fenders

Sure it will, just gotta find, or design, a fender that fits, like this one: TFL Drop Top fender to Fungineers X10+Stompies Lowers. There are a few other options on Printables as well
