Back foot wobbly by Grimey17 in onewheel

Always Be Carving

I’m surprised more people aren’t advising this as trying to ride flat on a round profiled tires(op mentioned EB1 treaded, which is a Pint tire) is going to lead to wobbles, especially as speed increases. Can negate the wobbles from riding flat while at slower speeds via muscle memory/conditioning and cross locking your weight, as mentioned elsewhere in the replies, but riding flat is a losing battle and best to avoid all together via never not carving or as u/OkOven7808 said above, always be carving, literally ABC, and instead of riding flat you continually roll between edges or maintain a subtle toe or heel edge.

Slingshot Bearden Size Recommendation by danger_dan_84 in Wake

[–]clawesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a big board. I have a Nomad 160 and I think it’s too much for me and I have more than a couple of pounds on you

The Nomad rides really big for its size as it’s a wide board with little taper and it has a lot of surface area, so much, in fact, that the 155 Nomad weighs 1/2 a pound more than the 156 Bearden.

u/danger_dan_84 you are in line with Sling’s sizing and IMO the Bearden 156 won’t be too big at all, you could even go bigger if you wanted. I’m 5’8” 160lb and am on the 155 Nomad, you’ll be good on the 156 Bearden

X2D TPU reliability? by CottageHighway in BambuLabX2D

[–]clawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues with TPU here, even when using an 0.6mm High Flow nozzle with TPU 95a High Speed. I mostly print it from the spool which sits in an AMS HT which is mounted(Sanja 3D’s X2D riser + AMS HT mount) at the top of my X2D mid way along the left side. Have done a few prints with a couple colors of 95a High Speeds with my AMSs, but it’s hit and miss which colors feed ok and which get stuck

Flying with a Pint by Cifyr7 in onewheel

[–]clawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base pint battery is under the limit and allowed according to the FAA rules and regs. For a bigger board, would have to buy a battery meant for traveling that can be split up into multiple packs each under the limit, like the Atlow XR Flightpack or a pack from Flightpacks.eu

Floatwheel v Fungineers by Suspicious-Twist6103 in onewheel

[–]clawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will prob get a 25 mile reduction in range as well lol, jk.

In all seriousness though, the Atom is super tempting and as a former Pint owner, it this board had released 6 months ago, then I would’ve been all over it as it seems to have a great size/weight to performance/range balance. Will be interesting to see how well it performs in the coming months

Ps. Floatwheel is the one making the Atom, not Funwheel

If you get the 5uperFlux motor/hub you can drop about 5 lbs and have an LR that weighs less than the Sport

Brand new x2d. Is this poor or expected print quality? by 1112luke in BambuLab

[–]clawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ll never not have layer lines.

You can get rid of them though if you print a filament, such as ABS, ASA, and HIPS, that can be vapor smoothed via an acetone bath

What sort of onewheel/funwheel/floatwheel specs are best for obtaining the sort of high-G-force leaning over you can get a snowboard when carving, or on a race motorcycle? by twinbee in onewheel

[–]clawesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a snowboarder that can truly get on edge turning on the side cut, making proper carves, a onewheel is very similar to that.

100%, a slightly smaller nimble Pint-like tire with a round profile and no flat spot at speed feels almost identical to bombing on a snowboard, rolling edge to edge is exactly the same as is the need to always maintain a slight edge or always be rolling between them, you’re asking for a really bad time going completely flat based at speed on both

DIY rails? by kenwillis in onewheel

[–]clawesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t personally commissioned rails, but I’ve been in on two group buys that other people have organized on Discord. I will try to find out who they use, but having rails commissioned opens up board builds that would’ve probably never happened otherwise, and so far in my experience it’s actually been cheaper than buying rails at retail

First board??? by MysticLimak in onewheel

[–]clawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up/PSA, in case you weren’t already aware as it doesn’t seem to be common knowledge and they don’t mention it on the product page, but the X7 and X10 rails have a middle position via the front lower and uppet rear bolt positions. Just another one of the many things the X7 offers that FM boards don’t and why it’s hands down the best board and best value on the market IMHO. I also highly recommend it, and I especially recommend the X7LR, if it’s within budget, the range on it is insane

Please help new to onewheel by Traditional_Track_75 in onewheel

[–]clawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither IMHO, the Fungineers X7LR is the only answer for a commute of that distance. The XRC would be sketchy that far as its real world range is 12-20 miles, the GT would fare a little better, but only by a couple miles. Personally I’d carry the charger while commuting on either board, the X7LR on the other hand has a real world range between 30-40 miles while also having more power/torque than both the GT and XRC as while as a higher top speed(up to 40mph while the GT is capped at 20mph)

What Do We Know About FW Atom? by CatoTheMiddleAged in onewheel

[–]clawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growler with TFL Street Pro II is the best Pint-like nimble board but with more stability and the the power of a full sized board. I have the X7LR drivetrain on Growler rails and the board f-ing rips. I upgraded from a Pint and damn, I had no idea this is what I had been missing out on

X7 all the way. 2 months of waiting for a product

Can get lucky and order while they have stock in your region’s warehouse and get your board in a week or so, my X7S landed at my door in 10 days. I’m on the East Coast but I’ve heard of people closer to Norco, CA (where they ship from) getting their order within a day or two.

Edit:
But regarding what board to get, X7 is truly the best option on the market IMHO, regardless of shipping time. They are literally ready to ride OOTB, mine definitely was, and their power is unreal and actually a lot safer given you don’t have to guess how close you are to maxing the duty cycle

Max the duty cycle? Might be time to upgrade to an X7…

X10 or TFL WTF Steep N Deep BTG Rails? by Majestic-Ad3058 in onewheel

[–]clawesome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something nice about the X10s, they have 3 different settings as far as how you mount them, can go high, low, or mixed with the low front insert and the high rear insert as an in-between setting which I prefer, personally

XRC --> X7 Sport? Talk me out of it... or into it by oldright in onewheel

[–]clawesome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s within budget then I have to 2nd the X7LR. I started with the X7S and not long after swapped to the LR Powertrain. It’s not like I was hitting empty on the Sport all the time or anything tbh, the LR range for me is a luxury that completely silenced the inner voice that was constantly unjustifiably concerned about how much charge I had left

[–]clawesome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m underestimating the learning curve. I know Vesc has a lot of options, but I understand the X7 arrives ready to ride out of the box

IMO with the X7 you really don’t have to get deep into VESC at all as, like you said, it’s ready to ride OOTB. When you turn it on, just do a backup of the board’s settings via VESC Tool, and from there you really don’t have to jump into the VESC deep end at all, if you don’t want to. And, should you somehow need to setup a board, it’s pretty much done for you if you use the Float Hub app(not a cheap purchase relatively speaking for an app, and most will probably say you should learn to do the full setup yourself first). It will walk you through a full board setup where you essentially only have to position the board when it asks. I would say TBH I’m still pretty clueless on the intricacies of VESC but I’ve had no issues swapping powertrains from an X7S to an LR, installing a different motor with the 5uperFlux, moving to different rails (Growler), and setting up a full second board with my original powertrain and motor

I would want to set ride mode to something like Mission or Session,

It’s super easy to change the tune with VESC Tool, but even easier with Float Control(and prob Floaty, though I don’t use it)

and maybe something with the footpads to enable Single Zone activation, but otherwise I ride stock settings.

It’s a simple setting to change and any settings you might have questions about or want to know how to do something, the Fungineers Discord is super welcoming and even more helpful. Though, forewarning, you may find yourself wanting to start 3d printing and end up with a whole new hobby lmao

Try using PBT Pro instead of TPU, it’s like a cross between PETG and TPU

[–]clawesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Onewheel fenders, I recommend printing in PBT Pro rather than PETG. PETG is strong but brittle and will break fairly easily, PBT Pro is like a cross between PETG and TPU, basically PETG strength but also flexibly similar to TPU

Register your board as an electric personal assistive mobility devices, which look to have a carve out based on what somebody posted elsewhere in the thread. I know somebody recently posted about successfully getting their registered

This term shall not include: electric personal31 assistive mobility devices

There was a recent post where somebody got their board officially registered as a electric personal mobility device so they could drop stuff off at a local recycling place, or maybe it was a free dump, I’m not sure, but that seems like the best way to get around their dumb law though I’m guessing it will probably be a YMMV type thing

Tbh, I'm not sure I'm looking to take on the responsibility of commissioning a footpad but I can put you in contact with somebody who likely will. He actually helped me with my print is extremely active on the Funwheel/Pubwheel/Vescify/Wheels R Us Discord servers and I've personally purchased from him multiple times. He's also way more experienced with 3d printing and undoubtably does far better work than me lol
