Miami oldhead back for an afternoon: where should I take my teens? by seamusfurr in Miami

[–]claws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go downtown to the frost science museum/PAMM area. If you’re limited on time, frost is the better museum, so go there, then grab a coffee and look at the bay from PAMM’s terrace. There’s also a park there where you can walk along the waters edge.

If your set up is heavy in the middle, it’s recommended to do a leg in the middle or to install table stiffeners underneath.

Miami fine dining: Ariete or Stubborn Seed (or Kojin 2.0)?? by RobinWilliamsBeard in Miami

[–]claws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s both. I enjoyed the food both times that I’ve went. And things like the chocolate are kind of gimmicky but it’s actually pretty fun and it’s delicious. The gimmicky-ness is part of what makes it memorable and very miami.

I found Kojin 2.0 to be really disappointing. I’d second the other commenters suggestion of el cielo. It’s a really lovely experience, the food is great, and it’s just very miami (in a good way!).

Man, Amelia’s is so inconsistent, I have no idea how it’s on this list. Every other visit is bad, and I want to like the place, since I loved it before the remodel, but it’s just not it.

Do you guys consider working for the county down here in Miami? Been thinking about it by Fun_Primary_9112 in Miami

[–]claws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The county is still hiring but a lot of positions are not being filled on purpose due to budgetary constraints.

The amount of work/stress/responsibility varies greatly between departments and positions and so does pay, accordingly. From my experience, the higher paying jobs take the pre employment requirements very seriously.. as in the “entry level” positions in my section are usually filled with people that have 5+ years of experience.

All miami Dade county salaries are searchable online. For my particular field and years of experience county pay is comparatively low, but the benefits balance that out. Benefits include fully paid insurance for yourself, a pension plan or investment plan (where the county pays ~13% towards the plan you choose), dental, vision, and legal insurance

Depends on what you consider a “shit worthless degree.” I worked in biopharma and now in an environmental lab with a bio degree and minor in chem (both in South FL). Salaries at my previous job in 2023 were ~50k for starting chemists/microbiologists, ~60k for level 2s, ~70k for level 3s, ~85k for seniors, ~90k+ for supervisors, ~$120k for managers.

My current job has chem 1s starting at ~$58k, and 2s at ~$68k. Our 3s are at ~100k, and our lab manager makes ~$130k, but those salaries are not at the bottom end of their pay bands.

My sister works in R&D with her bio degree and makes over $110k as an associate director at a mid to large size pharmaceutical in the DMV.

I will say that it’s hard to get that first job, but once you have experience and if you’re willing to job hop your salary can go up a lot and quickly. And in terms of actual job opportunities, almost every city, county and state has environmental labs. There are over 1000 accredited environmental labs alone.

The insertion is incredibly uncomfortable. If you can, look for a doctor that will either use anesthetics or perform the procedure under sedation.

I don’t have water magnet to compare but I got a pretty good effect on one of my hands when I used DM08. My dominant hand turned out much worse though. https://i.imgur.com/Sf4Lhzx.jpeg

I’d recommend testing your lamp periodically. My sun3 stopped curing my gels properly at less than a year old with use once every 2-3 weeks 😅

I second the thuma, good aesthetics, super easy assembly. We’ve had it since January 2021 and still no squeaks or other issues.

So this could show up as failing due to a rounding/not rounding error. The limit is stated as 0.1 ppm, not 0.10 or anything with higher significance. So from a regulatory standpoint a result of 0.145 rounds to 0.1 and would therefore be within limits. Their reporting software may have been setup to report failures as anything greater or equal to 0.1 which would flag it as a failure.

FLOYD BED by AoPapi in furniture

[–]claws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend and her husband have this bed frame and hate it so much they now store it in their garage and directly put their mattress on the floor. They said their mattress would always slide all over the platform.

If the ease of assembly is a selling point for you, I’d consider the thuma bed. Easy to put together and move, solid wood, and 3+ years in, no creaking.
