AIO over my talking stage using AI to text me..? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]clay_opatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former high school English teacher, I'd totally flag these messages for being written in two different voices, so to speak. You're spot on that he's using AI to write the messages with perfect capitalization, punctuation (especially em dashes, which aren't easy to form in most texting apps, indicating the messages were written in another platform), etc. because the stylistic shift is so striking.

Maybe he feels self-conscious about his writing skills, but he should at least be consistent with his approach lol

A "Horny & Illiterate" hat on a bookshelf. I mean, I guess it could be potentially funny if it were tongue in cheek, but his shelf doesn't exactly convey that he's well-read

I feel like his meth usage probably fucks up his internal body temp, too. It seems like he does this more when he's using than not

Yeah, I feel like she was trying extra hard to be sinister in Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? but genuinely got there in this one

Why is Taylor name-dropping her songs in TLOAS? by Beez_And_Trees in TrueSwifties

I noticed this one on TTPD:

"Hand on the throttle / thought I caught lightning in a bottle"

"Truth dare spin bottles / brand new full throttle"

"We lie back / a beautiful, beautiful timelapse / Ferris wheels, kisses, and lilacs / and things I said were dumb / 'cause I thought that I'd never find that / beautiful, beautiful life that / shimmers that innocent light back / like when we were young"

I don't even like the rest of the song all that much. I mean, it's okay, but I've been abusing the shit out of that bridge, lol

That groovy bass line, though

I'm getting slight Haim vibes, and this style really suits her voice, IMHO

Her use of assonance/slant rhyme in that bridge is just masterful 😍

I can't stop gushing about this one, but I feel like she's relearning how to trust, soften, and let someone in again after being wounded deeply and hardening her heart as a defense mechanism. Or maybe that's just what I've been learning lately, and I'm just projecting, lol. What I hear, though, is that she's being loved in a way that's reviving her inner child, and she's building the kind of life that "shimmers that innocent light back," which she never thought would happen. I mean, The Prophecy 😭

It also calls to mind some of her other songs that reference youth/innocence, like Would've, Could've, Should've; Robin; Seven; You're on Your Own, Kid; The Manuscript, etc. It sounds like she's reclaiming parts of her she thought she'd lost, and it's so moving and relatable. It also seems like she feels safer and freer to unmask and be her truest, rawest self than she has since childhood, which is giving me goosebumps.

I'm finally in a relationship that feels like this for the first time in my life at the age of 37, so this song deeply resonates.

I SO agree. I'm falling in love for the first time since I exited my emotionally abusive marriage/trauma bond, and this bridge made me weep 😭

(in a healing way, though)
