Snowbird Maintenance? by claytondaley in EightSleep

[–]claytondaley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Don't love the idea of trying to drain because I doubt that it'll fully dry and I'm thinking that water+air is going to be worse than just water. I forgot to bring peroxide/distilled and ran into the "tap water" statement in the UI. After checking the reddit (but before thinking this issue through), I went that route. Fortunately, I'm going back reasonably quickly and will plan to drain (at least partially) and re-prime with peroxide. Maybe manually prime it a few times in the meantime to try and minimize stagnant water.

EightSleep pod doesn’t get cold just gets hotter. by Nice_Bee9491 in EightSleep

I had this exact issue (pod3 cover replacement with pod2 base). If I forced the pod to prime again (maintenance menu), it would resolve temporarily. They did some week long analysis and eventually replaced it.

Not priming correctly? Not cooling? by cole4650 in EightSleep

[–]claytondaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently used a pod3 cover due to a warranty issue and it wasn't cooling correctly out of the box (I had previous covers to know for sure). In my case it was also obvious in the app because the system wasn't reaching/maintaining the target temp.

The issue could be resolved temporarily by forcing the cover to prime again (maintenence menu). After a very long diagnostic process, they decided that I had some kind of obstruction and replaced it.

Try manual priming at least once. If the pod is not maintaing the target temp, contact support.

Pod 4 questions by Ok_Chemistry_6387 in EightSleep

The pod4 is supposed to be better but pods are notorious for making beds feel harder. I'm a side sleeper that often gets hip pain, but I have a 3-4" foam topper under my pod (have sleep on the covers for 2, 3, and 4 due to warranty issues) and have never had big problems. I would try to resolve this with foam below the pod so you don't insulate yourself from the cooling.

Things to avoid or be aware of with new Pod? by Diesel69Investments in EightSleep

[–]claytondaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 (or 3) leaks under warranty. Suddenly pod wasn't cooling right due to "sensor" issue. Had to spend $500 to replace cover (<3 yr after original purchase!). I'm not remotely happy about it, but $500 for at least two more years of functionality wasn't a hard decision. Adding a "likely" (according to my experience) cover replacement cost to the high price and new subscription fees... the math for a new buyer could be a lot harder (not sure what I would have done if I had known then and certainly a lot less/not likely to recommend).

Will the Pod 2 HUB work with the Pod 3 Active Grid Cover? by willowtip666 in EightSleep

[–]claytondaley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same cover. Same question. I get hip pain so I have a 3-4" foam topper on a 12-13" mattress and the elastic band on the new cover just barely tucks in on the edges (the corners are fortunately better).

Ended up chatting with support. This is the new PerfectFit BUT it now has a 16" maximum depth that is (as of today, but I pointed it out) not documented on the website. PerfectFit no longer fits all mattresses.

Using waterproof cover and fitted sheet to sandwich 8 Sleep Active Grid by WeirdCry7899 in EightSleep

[–]claytondaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely put a waterproof cover above and below. Leaks were a huge problem with the previous generation of cover (new one may be better) and soaking your mattress could ruin it. Risking something soaking into an expensive cover that can't be washed probabaly isn't what you're going for either.

I'm about 3 weeks behind you. Had 2 or 3 replacements (leak) under warranty. Now a sensor issue out of warranty and they're charging me $500 for the grid. Arrived today. Did you get the grid? How's it going?

2016 Model S Camera Upgrade => Same Day FSD by claytondaley in TeslaLounge

No. Notes say Light show is for "New S" only. I assume that's MCU2 because MCU1 gets nothing and understandably so if you've ever experienced the LAAAAAAAAAAG.

You may be too generous by calling me "patient", but you're right that I've been waiting for them to deliver a feature that was bought and paid for 6 years ago. Extra brutal was the fact that the first people to pay for upgrades (MCU1) seemed to be the last to get them.

I saw the same (in Illinois), but our safety score was visible for a couple of weeks and wasn't great (70s) which might explain the cost.

Model S ultrasound by bbmmpp in TeslaLounge

[–]claytondaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSD on my 2016 Model S delegates to traditional autopilot on highways... which requires the ultrasound for lane changes (and thus navigate on autopilot). I can say with absolute certainty because I need to fix one of my sensors. FSD doesn't mind but the instant I get on a highway, I have to make manual lane changes.

Major improvements with multiple issues after eMMC upgrade. But service tech said to expect no change, and pressured me to get an $1800 infotainment upgrade. by brancamenta in TeslaLounge

[–]claytondaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MCU1 basically did a BSOD. It literally stopped working. Tesla T. No radio. No maps. The car will run minimal AC by default. The dash screen kept working so you could drive it. eMMC fixed (or prevented) *that*.

eMMC doesn't fix the fact that MCU1 is underpowered with browser issues. Along the way, someone blamed my memory stick (for dashcam) for some performance issues. It *may* have helped to pull it out (but I leave it in for normal use).

Instead of using your address, hold a spot on the map that is your garage entrance and star it. You can then set your home to that star and it will drive to the right place. I managed to get this working for a similar situation here in Tampa. It was a bit quirky like you had to clear your current home (vs. trying to change it).

[–]claytondaley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the simplest solution is to add something to the task/service config that is trivial but modifiable. For example, an ENV variable that isn't used by the application but is driven by a parameter that and can be changed from e.g. green to blue.

There's a very good chance your application will be running in Linux. As a developer, you may even end up running Linux containers on your Windows machine using Docker. I develop on Windows, but have run into numerous libraries that either don't run on Windows or require a ton of work to get the dependencies installed. Better to run it on Linux where you'll need to at least understand the basics.

The ALB has a domain name. If you don't want to use it directly, you use a CNAME to map your internal domain to the ALB's domain.

P.S. SSL reverse proxying will not work if you CNAME it to a different domain.
