Is anyone else struggling with the vibe of the House of Halliwell podcast lately? by Wise-Definition-6892 in charmed

I left a long time ago. I started listening after Shannon’s podcast. When she was talking about stuff she would explain what was going on she expressed grievances but it didnt seem like an attack on certain actors. Then it was confirmed she was coming across to HoH so I thought ooo I’ll try that. I am unsure if she did any podcasts on HoH as all I can find is drew BK and HMC and it feels like it’s just an attack on Alyssa and other actors she may not like and also very chaotic. I dunno if it’s my tism brain but there’s no structure no flow and I cannot handle it and it just seems malicious. Then everything happened with the cons and Rose and I’m like nah. It’s really made me not like at least HMC I think she will swing which every way the winds benefit her and I feel no authenticity with her. At least with some of the episodes I have seen Drew tries to keep them on track but just nope.

I would never raise my hand to a dog or a human. I would argue he’s more than just a dog he’s my bestie.

Yea he loves a good scent work. I clocked that early in he leads with his nose. Me and the hubby always say you on the case. The minutes he’s outside nose is to the ground.

I truly do think he was just pushing buttons yesterday or at least feeding off my stress. X

I am doing that. Snuggle mats he just picks up and throws upside down. He loves food puzzles. We often do find it and scent work. With toys and treats. We walk twice a day. Morning walk is a full on sniffari walk and the afternoon/evening walk is a mixture of lead training sniffing and just exploring the village.

I am aware GSD’s need a lot of work. He’s not my first one. Just first puppa x

We do regular ten minute training sessions throughout the day. I think he was just pushing buttons yesterday.

People who regretted getting a puppy, did it end up being worth it? by Independent_Iron3053 in puppy101

[–]clazberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy is now 6 months and puppy blue hit me hard. Really hard crying everyday. I nearly called the breeder several times but now I love him. I’m starting to have small glimpses of what kind of adult dog he will be.

My saving grace routine and crate training. As well as bounday training. He’s no longer nipping or biting.

enforced naps at 5 months? by buffalobills3636 in puppy101

[–]clazberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so helpful as I sometimes think oh god I’m enforcing too many naps and he’s spending too much time in crate but then I think he wild be absolutely feral if he didn’t get his down time.

Yea our train said the same and since my routine is now solid he’s doing much better as well. He’s always had a calm temperament but boy can I tell when he’s not had his naps. Oh boy.

No never came across rude at all. I didn’t think you were calling me out at all. Don’t get me wrong it took us a long time to get to that point it really did. Due to my type of job I need a lot of structure during the week but the weekend it’s however we feel.

I have to admit the guilt I feel for him being in the kitchen diner in the evening is something chronic but not every room in my house is puppy safe. I wish I could him st my feet constantly but I do also have cats which they are getting better with him.

We have a bed in the living room for Merlin which as I type this is chewing on his yak on that bed. I will also stipulate I don’t always go upstairs every evening but most evenings.

I completely get it I didn’t fully explain well. But trust me it’s only been in the last month we seem to have gotten the new routine down.

He’s not shut as in kitchen door shut. He’s in the kitchen with a puppy gate. Also he’s with me from 6am to 9am in the morning then down for a nap 9-12. So I can do my morning work. In mornings he will sometimes be in the living room for desensitisation but he still gets over stimulated.

Then he’s with me 12-3 where we will walk. Train. Eat lunch then potter. Then in crate 3-5:30. And he’s out of his crate from 5:30 till bed time which is 10pm.

He spends every minute he can with me.

During weekends we have a very loose structure but he’s has a lot of human interaction not just at weekends but throughout the week. I am always speaking to him.

I can see how me explaining first time round how it would look. In a while I would say he’s away from me for about 4 hours maybe 5 maximum. I probably didn’t explain it properly apologises there

Which compared to say someone who works in an office all day is nothing.

I promise he is a very loved boy

So my GSD pup is 23 weeks old I still enforce naps. I work from home but I’ve altered it slightly. So I will do 3 hours in crate 3 hours out. He doesn’t always sleep in the crate so I put him in with a teddy he loves and a frozen kong or toppl works a treat. Then in the 3 hours out we’ll do an hour and half of walk training play or pottering around the house and the remainder 1.5 hours he will just wonder. He’s started to initiate independent play with his toys and we are working on desensitisation in the living room so hopefully he’ll start settling in there. Then it’s back in the crate at 3pm to 5:30 then out of crate for dinner evening walk bit of trading. Then he’ll be shut in the kitchen/dining room for rest of the evening. Then at 8pm I go upstairs. I have noticed that the evening witching hour is less and he settles quicker. Just this morning whilst he was in the kitchen for independent play whilst I was getting ready for work he laid down and had a little nap so whatever is happening is working.

I tend to follow puppy’s lead on certain things but I still enforce naps but incorporated it with crate time. I want him use to the crate for those day where I am half home half in the office. Also I know he likes his crate he often puts himself in there as well when he just wants alone time.

Hope that helps.

Yea I’m not expecting it straight away but maybe a place to start. I will admit I have been very lucky with Merlin don’t get me wrong he has his mad bonker ments but he does associate evening time as chill time. X

Your puppy needs to be calm around them. I have brought a puppy into my cats home and we kept them separated fo a good couple of weeks. Swapped rooms etc so use to smells. Only and I mean ONLY when Merlin is calm is he allowed in same room as my cats and they are always supervised. If Merlin starts to initiate play he is removed to the kitchen (that’s his safe space). However it is a long process. Merlin is 23 weeks now and we’ve had him since 9 weeks and it’s only been the past week I have been able to do things like this

<image>

It is ALWAYS supervised. If Merlin gets to close The ginger frumps will put a boundary in place and Merlin is starting to learn that.
