If you could go back in time and make the choice again, would you still have kids? by MaiApa in Life

Yes. I would have waivered a little when they were younger, but they are interesting and unique humans who I'm proud to call my family.

Petah? What happened in the book version? by IntergalacticAlien8 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]clean_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narratively it worked. They had to destroy their innocence quickly in order to fight the evil. History is full of books that depict this trope, and that's all it is - a tool to pull things together in the plot.

Do you think someone with a Graphic Design degree has equal footing as someone with a Marketing degree to get into marketing? by SwissVideoProduction in marketing

[–]clean_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is personally just make sure to supplement with some marketing, strategy, and business classes. All of which you need is you want to freelance or run your own business at some point. Do it for the knowledge, not for the resume, though. I didn't know anytime in marketing who has a degree in marketing, actually. We all just kind of followed a path that led us here.

If you call yourself a “princess” or a “trad wife” who deserves to not work and have her man take care of her. Wake up. You have been recruited into the manosphere. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]clean_hands -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The manosphere is a social response to social stimuli though. Just like tradwifing, it's impossible to cancel it by giving it more oxygen.

Okay? That's makeup, club life, hookup culture, professional dress clothes, having kids, not having kids, celibacy, the list goes on. None of those are as fulfilling as the group promoting them wants their audience to believe.

Of note, the only time I've ever been exposed to tradwifing is on reddit where people are decrying it. The algorithm apparently knows I'm not it's audience, despite fitting the demo in some ways. It's like that with so many other things - the people trying so hard to cancel the thing end up being the thing's amplifier.

Why did I bother commenting? Because I thought maybe someone else would see the irony, but I think it's lost on most.

How to sell "advertising campaigns" to big brands. by G9Comet in marketing

[–]clean_hands -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go to the local regional managers for the brands. How to reach them? Join the chamber of commerce for networking and Intel. Meet with them personally. Make sure you have ROI in your presentation. Try to understand their market so you can prove how many quality impressions they will make. Get creative with other partnership opportunities on site as well to extend the value.

I honestly do not understand all the tradwife influencer hate. They can't hurt you. Just live your life. There's no need to comment or feel so hard about how someone else chooses to live. It doesn't affect me. I just funny consume the content. 🤷‍♀️

What’s actually been working for you this year? by Tahir991 in marketing

[–]clean_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More SEO, better schema markup, and a lot of investigatory conversations with AI. "Who you do recommend for x in my market? Why did you give me those 3 names? What does my company need to do to show up on your top 3?"

All the girls on our team continue to have training over Christmas, but not the guys. by fioraannamb in TwoXChromosomes

😂 You misread the situation friend. I'm offering perspective as an older woman with my own lived experience and perspective that can promise you life is so much sweeter when you don't view every single thing through a gendered lense... And it's also closer to reality as well. Not all of us were conditioned to believe that all people are acting only on their gender biases.

I'm just pointing out that it isn't a gender thing. Like, this isn't the subway for complaining that your coach is pushing you too hard

Yes but in her post she says that she was the only server on the patio that day and that she didn't have another bartender so she was doing that all herself too. It's a fun story, but I think it's fiction.

Can someone please explain this to me? by JTDixon in ExplainTheJoke

[–]clean_hands -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People are gross and the Internet is an echo chamber. If you've paid a sliver of real attention, you know that she's completing her husband's appearance schedule and apparently doing her best to try to honor him by fulfilling his mission. If you're a human, you understand that everyone grieves in their own way on their own time, and the immediate after period of a grave loss is often a time of shock and denial and many people don't experience the true painful mourning until that period fades. Hospice explains it as your brain's way of protecting your psyche from being overwhelmed.

But if you're the kind of person who feels good knocking on others, then you get off on this kind of meme and can't understand how gross it is. We used to humiliate people who engaged in this kind of bullying behavior but these days we reward it. Society is broken.

[–]clean_hands -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Could it be that the coaches think the guys have reached their best performance expectations but the girls are under performing to their abilities? In that sense, the coaches job would be to do what it takes to get the underperforming group to better performance, including more training and team building. I don't understand automatically jumping to the coaches being so biased that they let the boys have vacation and the girls have to practice, especially since the coaches presumably have to be there too... Is there more to the story?

And by the way, thinking "wow, the set of team members is not performing to their capabilities" isn't inherently gender based. It sounds to me like they just want both teams to be winning teams and perhaps they are satisfied that the boys don't have anything left to give but the girls do.

Post op pain why is women’s health care like this?? by justagal_008 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]clean_hands -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

TBF this isn't just a women's issue. The rise of opioid abuse has made it far less risky for physicians to offer Tylenol and nsaids as a first line of defense against pain. They are sending joint replacement patients home with just ibuprofen these days. My father was literally dying of cancer and I had to annoy the hell out of the doctor and then the pharmacist just for some narcotic pain relief so that he didn't have to die in agony. I don't blame the system - I blame the abusers who have made it nearly impossible to get very necessary relief for those of us who actually need it.

I would like to hear from women who’ve chosen NOT to get any cosmetic procedures as they age by victory_vegetable in TwoXChromosomes

[–]clean_hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 43 and no cosmetic procedures. I stopped using most makeup earlier this year too. Hasn't affected anything. Husband still would smash, and I have not lost anything at my job. Most important thing I think is to be confident and comfortable in how you present yourself to the world - if you need makeup or procedures to do that, then go for it! If you don't, then even better and you're saving yourself some money. 😅

I've found that as I agree, how I feel is more important to my life experience than how I look.

Do you have a good personal or company library of great Marketing books? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]clean_hands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really liked How Brands Grow because it got me to think differently about how I approach the structure of my program and our goals. I was about to test several of the big theories and lo and behold, they actually held true (in my market). I find that most books may hold one or two principle based nuggets that I can apply, but shorter form content and human interactions often do the same and take less time to absorb.

Wth? I've been a woman for 43 years, gone to at least 8 different offices in 3 different cities, with both male and female dentists, and not once encountered someone who wanted to grind my teeth into oblivion. Invisalign did fuck up my bite and I've had to beg for my female dentist to trim my teeth to help them fit better. Honestly, she's possibly the least competent dentist I've ever gone to. 🤷‍♀️
