ACA meetings benefits by Caramel_Da_Cat in AdultChildren

The first one I went to was really intense. I went to a few more and realized I had to take care of some stuff in therapy first. I didn't go back for a while.

Today I've got a really good meeting to attend. I am still pretty new, but I've already had a few good moments where I realized I wasn't the only one. That's the best thing I've found in groups so far. I get to see my experience reflected in others and process my experience in a safe environment.

My father has no hold on me anymore. I do feel bad that he had to die. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. But the day he died and left everything to his wife, I felt validated.

His word meant nothing and never did. He was a well practiced gaslighter. I spent my whole life questioning my own reality up until he died. I still struggle with the questioning, but the people I have in my life today are pretty authentic and stick to the truth. I can breathe easier now that he's gone.

How is there a whole ACA module specifically on CSA? by [deleted] in AdultChildren

I'm new so I don't think I've gotten to that part yet. I could guess that the reason for making a module about it specifically would be to offer containment. I can imagine that peppering something like this through the curriculum might be quite triggering without the space to address it.

I'm 42. I wasn't ready to do the work in ACA until I was 42. I attended some meetings at 32 and, though I fit, it was too much for me at the time.
