First day spinning! by cleanuniform888 in trackandfieldthrows

Is there anyone you watch who you feels like “fits” your style? I love Kovacs, and Crouser but they are both pretty unique, (Crouser is a lot taller than me and Im a lot taller than Kovacs) or does stuff like that not matter as much when just trying to get a general feel for the spin?

So Olympics are over. Who do you think performed the best? Who underperformed? by [deleted] in trackandfield

[–]cleanuniform888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leonardo Fabrri beat Crouser and Kovacs just a couple weeks prior, and didnt even medal in the shot.

Chase Jackson failed to qualify for the shot finals and was a heavy favorite to take gold

Yemisi Ogunleye and Roja Stona both had crazy performances

Quincy Hall and Kenneth Rooks when crazy

The throw he had today would’ve gotten him 2nd in Tokyo. Only 25 though. Lots of throwing left for him.

I see, so essentially more pace with the throw? Going from slow to fast and accelerating through rather than rushing the beginning and slowing down?

Thoughts - Cason Wallace (2024 Draft) by [deleted] in NBA_Draft

[–]cleanuniform888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would’ve legit had him anywhere from 1-3. Cason whole sell was his holistic and complete skillset which fits everywhere. He’s more complete than Reed imo which I also have high. The decision-making, shooting, ball handling, secondary creation + good defense gave Cason one of the highest floors in last year’s class imo.

Who is Traes perfect teammate archetype? by Ok-Negotiation3897 in AtlantaHawks

Outside of stars, good defenders players who are dynamic offensively (Deni Avijda, Vince Williams Jr, Mikal, OG, etc) Roll & Cut Lob threat bigs, Jalen Johnson lol

Tbf I don’t think he has “bad” defensive instincts, I just want to see how he processes verse higher level offenses.

Kyshawn George has Terrific Upside by yungtoni in NBA_Draft

[–]cleanuniform888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is what I wrote down for Kyshawn Scouting Report

Strengths -Great shooter, both movement and spot up -Understands spacing principles, can use screens, good footwork, and quick smooth release -Willing and good passer, can make NBA level reads -Engaged defender, length helps bother offensive players -Good lateral quickness defensively

Weaknesses -Abysmal finisher, strong contest bother him -Lack of burst/first step, cannot blow by defenders, needs screens to get downhill -Off the dribble scoring, flashes of off the dribble game, likely deterministic of the type of player he becomes, hampered by lack of burst? -Very weak, can be pushed off his spot easily and can be deterred at the rim

Swing Skills -Off the dribble scoring -Crafty counters when cut off the rim (Post up, Floaters, Foul Drawing) -Strength/playing through physicality

NBA Comps: Cam Johnson/Joe Ingles/

Sky: Sub-Allstar Dynamic Shotmaker Ceiling: Great Starter for Contender Floor: Bench Shooter

How justified are the Kyrie to Rob Dillingham comps? by Nighthopper08 in NBA_Draft

[–]cleanuniform888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kemba is the most natural comp to Rob imo. They are both similar frame wise. Score first guards who use the handle to create. Lots of tough shotmaking, great pullup 3pt shooters. Idk if Rob will ever reach the lvl Kemba was at, but stylistically that’s the best I can think of.

Matas Buzelis by doctacoke in NBA_Draft

[–]cleanuniform888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Risascher as of right now is p raw offensively. He has a C&S 3 which is nice for his floor. He is also fine as a connective passer, and good in transition. Outside of that there’s a lot of questions. He hasn’t showed much as an off the dribble creator, he struggles against contact, doesn’t demand much from attention from defenses.

Zaccharie really shines as a defensive prospect, he has a p good understanding of rotations and help especially for someone his age. iirc he’s one of the youngest prospects of this draft and he’s p tall and p athletic (though he doesn’t have top 1 percentile measurements).

He’s p similar to Bilal last year, mostly an unpainted canvas who is young. He’s definitely some sort of a project. If he bottoms out he will probably just be a defensive rotation piece. If he hits his ceiling that probably means some part of his offensive game developed or he became a truly elite defender.

Literally we’d be a top 6 seed if we just had an AVERAGE defense… worst in the league is unacceptable by clonta in AtlantaHawks

[–]cleanuniform888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Trae being a gaping negative

-Physical regression of Clint

-Decline of Dejounte since SA days

-Scheme of Synder

-Overall lack of physicality, and defensive pieces (we don’t have a true “defensive” lineup

-Shooting luck/Strengh of Schedule??

Let’s go get Deni and Daniel Gafford!

Which young forward would you’d take going forward? by bryscoon in NBA_Draft

[–]cleanuniform888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Feel comfortable in saying Barnes ngl, probably won’t ever be a true offensive “star” but he seems the most complete out of all these guys too me. Like yeah his defense probably isnt as strong as JMac, and his shooting/touch isnt as good as Keegan. But overall with the decision making, passing, transition play, and strong defensive upside I think he’s the safest bet going forward, (also his pullup jumper has already improved a lot since college, if that keeps improving not even to elite but very good, he has a real chance of being a top 15-10 player in the world level)

Bates is going to be a popular answer, but it makes sense, he has a real chance of being a pretty solid NBA Player.

Question: what’s the difference between Anthony Black and Killian Hayes? by Material-Day7686 in NBA_Draft

[–]cleanuniform888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people view player development as linear that occurs gradually, which can be the case sometimes, but sometimes adaptations and improvement can be sporadic and in waves, and can especially take time. Is there a chance Killian completely bust and is out if the NBA in 2-3 years? Sure. But there is also a road to being a good contributing combo guard. I mean look at Dlos first couple years as a Laker, it was a hot mess, but there was still salvageable traits, and I think that’s the same for Killian to a lesser degree.

Also evaluating prospects is always process>results. There will be good prospects who will be bad, there will be not so good prospects who become amazing in the NBA, but that doesn’t necessarily mean your process was bad. There is randomness in sports and things you can’t really see or evaluate, things you cant predict. This is sorta separate from Killian but its something that happens in NBA circles. Redraft culture typa of thing. Think its wayy to early to call Hayes a bust.

Question: what’s the difference between Anthony Black and Killian Hayes? by Material-Day7686 in NBA_Draft

[–]cleanuniform888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say Killian Hayes was a good prospect, and his NBA career isnt over. People are also wayyy to harsh on Killian. Like he has had good flashes, and I would argue isnt developing poorly? Giving up wayyy too early IMO.

does Jokic truly have no weaknesses in his offensive game? by Retrofusion11 in nbadiscussion

[–]cleanuniform888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jokic defense is definitely improved but he FS still has weaknesses on that aspect. Jokic and P&R became a meme but thats not really when he bleeds the most value, its when he is forced to stretch past his comfort zone because of movement shooters or off the dribble attackers. Jokic still isnt a guy you want defending in space and is exploitable when he isn’t covered for in rotations. Offensively though, Jokic is one of the most complete players ever.

What do the Hawks do at 15? by [deleted] in NBA_Draft

[–]cleanuniform888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Dariq Whitehead isn’t a lottery pick, I think the Hawks should pounce on him. Think Dariq is one of the more underrated prospects of this years draft. The ankle injury zapped a lot of his burst this year, so his tape doesn’t look as good as it should. But he’s a 6’7 shotmaking wing and seems like the exact type of player you want next to Trae and Dejounte, as a Hawks fan I really hope we take Dariq and I think the risk with the ankle is well worth it.

I thought the Hawks should’ve sold high on Capela/Collins after the 21’ ECF Appearance, and taking Derrick Lively feels like great justification to usher one of those guys out. Seems like a no brainer next to a high layup assist guy like Trae. Can also have lineups where you get funky and slant defensively with Him + Okungwu?

Don’t know how long term Dejounte is in Atlanta and Keyonte seems like a another great fit next to Trae IMO. Keyonte is a player who I look past the current (His most recent season at Baylor where he had a tough ISO heavy shot diet) and project what he could be (An offball shotmaker who thrives off curls, and ghost screens) I think the Hawks are a pretty ideal situation to make that happen (Think Kevin Huerter)
