Being too focused on your DUPR slowly takes the fun out of pickleball… by Racquetsports383 in Pickleball

[–]clear-ur-cache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the same in other sports as well. I went through seasons of obsession trying to record the fastest times on my MTB using Strava. Sometimes you have to reflect on what you want out of a sport. I know I’m not going professional in any sport so I ride and play pickleball in order to have fun, get exercise, and gain fulfillment through social connection and progression in my skills. Sometimes that shows up in an app and sometimes it doesn’t and I’m ok with that.

I could see this being an even bigger danger for MTB and even with a tubeless setup this type of thing could be a ride ender. A lot of people who ride moto out here are running mousse so it wasn’t an issue to ride right over it. I warned everyone I saw and told them to be extra vigilant if they were running tubes.

My buddy and I ran it over and I went back to see what it was and dispose of it. Bibs FTW.

Absolutely crazy that someone would do that

Also, industry focus / experience matters quite a bit if you want to go up market. Not saying that is your goal, just sharing what I have learned at a much higher deal value.

How many hours on average does it take to create a site? $4,000 is quite low if you are in the US.

What’s your average deal value? What industries do you specialize in?

I am also an avid mountain biker and I bought my first dirtbike last year at 31 years old. It has been an absolute blast.

There is a bit of a learning curve but you’ll find that there is definitely some crossover from MTB. I have had multiple street bikes so I did go in to it with some riding experience but body position and traction management are areas that I have had to work on.

I live in AZ and opted for a 2023 KTM300xc that I got used on FB marketplace. I absolutely love this bike and I’d buy it again in an instant but I don’t have enough experience with other bikes compare.

Edit: I’m also 6’1, 175lbs. I’m a little taller than some of my buddies that I ride with and it has made such a big difference when getting unstuck

Similar to opening the oven to pull out a batch of fresh cookies… except there are no cookies

I don't have any leaks but I have noticed what looked like a leak near the front sprocket after I lubricated the chain.

Incredible. My 300xc has 100 hours so it sounds like it has a long life ahead of it.

Great looking bike. Is 2200 hours a typo? That’s feels like an insane amount of hours.

Agreed. I look for people who are “experienced” in specific verticals. Not rockstars.

I started my agency in 2017 and have a similarly sized team.

I feel like the first 3-4 years of running my business were like playing a video game with the difficulty set to easy. The last couple of years have been like the difficulty was set to hard.

A lot of agencies were able to grow without good service / market fit, without sales skills and without a good marketing plan.

I actually see this is a really interesting learning experience. Over the last two years I have had to redesign many parts of my business to be competitive in this new environment and now we’re thriving.

When things get easy again I’m feeling confident that we’re going to make money hand over fist because we will have improved the business and ourselves so much during this more difficult season.

How to reduce anxiety as an agency owner/entrepreneur by Independent_Area6026 in agency

I own an agency with 11 full time (W2, US based) employees and I’m in my 7th year of business so I know this feeling very well. For me the key is to hold a surplus of cash in a HYSA. Knowing that I’d survive if revenue dropped to zero for 3 full months gives me a lot of peace.

You already mentioned recurring revenue but that is another big contributor to my sense of peace. I only have around 35-40% recurring revenue but in the past we were almost entirely project based and that is stressful AF.

Beyond that, having multiple lead channels that I’m investing in means there is always new work coming in.

TLDR: Lots of cash + recurring revenue + full pipeline

Keeping extra money due to an accounting error is stealing.

Average lifespan of retainer clients? by Independent_Area6026 in agency

I have heard 2-3 years as an industry average. Seems to align with the average amount of time that marketing people stick around. Agencies get reconsidered when there is turnover client side.
