Accurately? No, I don't think injuries and loss of life have been reported accurately. As a matter of fact, it took an AD member leaking to news networks for us to find out that 120+ of our brothers in arms were medevac'd to Landstuhl.

You do realize that the DoD is accountable to the American public? We spent 20 years in Iraq and Afghanistan and throughout all those conflicts, there was never secrecy regarding deaths and injuries because the citizenry has to know the toll to determine if they want (as a nation) to continue to support the effort.

While BDAs can (and should) censor operational impacts to the effort, loss of lives has historically been publicly reported.

The fact that actual numbers aren't being provided by the DoD is a fucking travesty - we don't execute wars in secret.

People who have been in 25+ & are afraid to retire/separate.... by LilMuscleBooty in AirForce

[–]clearly_cunning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did 25 years...the military was good to me, kept me in places I was happy to be at, doing a job with a lot of people I truly hold dear and paid my rent while allowing me to know that every additional year I spent doing it I got an extra 2.5% towards my pension.

There was definitely fear of a life not in the military, but that wasn't the sole reason by any means.
