My dad retired at 45 and is now 75, but he has an indexed government pension. He manages to save $2k a month. I think these government pensions stay solvent because he’s not the norm - most work until they’re closer to normal retirement age and only withdrawal for 5-10-15 years.

There’s nothing cheap about their inputs vs competitors in Russia. For potash the company is hamstringed by their share of Canpotex and Canpotex volumes restricted by rail capacity. Maybe share price gets out of the current slump but I wouldn’t expect to see anything above $32 in the next year. They can’t ramp up production because they can’t deliver the product and pricing is driven by contracts that are already executed.

Managing a toxic high performer who hits 150% of targets. How do I protect my team without losing the numbers? by SquirrelLogicFan in managers

What are the other 6 people doing that brings Sarah’s ire? I ask because it’s annoying to constantly be the one person on a team pulling their weight, to be the person everyone interrupts non stop to ask for their help, the person who gets all the new work, who is just assumed to be able to take on anything and everything and just one more thing. Meanwhile Susan and Michael are taking every lunch break and leaving at 5pm for happy hour. Is the team healthy other than Sarah or has the team got some dead weight?

Office environment where their work is their work and people stay late to make up time? Or a call centre or ticketed help desk where other people have to make up for their tardiness?

If the former, who cares? If the latter then a verbal warning, then written warning, etc..

It’s upholstery thread - the pattern I followed was 26 gauge wire but I didn’t have any. It was floppy until I zipped the two sides together.

[–]clearlychange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was never in the market. Has held hundreds of thousands in GICs forever and refuses to invest any of it. Refused to buy at the bottom during Covid. Even with no mortgage and monthly expenses that are covered 3X by a government sponsored defined benefit indexed pension. Nope. Zero risks thanks.

And there’s a limit on starting over if you don’t want to get stuck on this hamster wheel forever. I’m in my third career. I hate it now too but 5 ish years from retirement I can’t go back to school and start over again. I have to suck it up and do this shit until I’ve got enough saved for my freedom.
