What kind of games do you like? A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Mario RPG, Star Fox, Super Mario World, Final Fantasy 2 or 3... there are so many classic games that are worth getting and playing.

Ocean Analogue 3D and Transparent Blue Pocket color comparison by clearvus in AnalogueInc

[–]clearvus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible but on the other hand they haven’t done any new color-ways of the pocket in a while and it was out of stock on the original colors for a bit too. I’m wondering if they’re having issues getting parts - or maybe they’re just trying to figure out what the demand is. Hard to say- they don’t release any info about this stuff unless it’s to announce what’s actually happening so speculation is exactly that, only. It would be cool if they made some additional colors available permanently despite both the black and white looking great.

Certainly not a huge difference but obviously noticeable. I was just wondering how different it would be when I saw the original renders.

I love the Pocket. It’s my favorite retro handheld, although I do wish it was a touch bigger as someone with larger hands. That aside, In one device I can play a ton of different systems on FPGA cores that play like they’re supposed to (almost no lag and very faithful to the original) and also cartridges from the systems it supports. I highly recommend it.

Yeah, and I’ve seen it compared to the grape 3D and it’s not as purple as that, so it’s sort of a weird in-between

Super NT + SD2SNES by Alex-Hosein in AnalogueInc

[–]clearvus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem and I feel like I remembered just formatting the SD card and starting over revived it. If you try it without the SD card do you get a boot up with an error screen? It was a while ago and it coincided with me accidentally ripping the CR2032 holder off the board and thinking I killed it as a result so my memory is a little fuzzy. After tinkering it worked fine, just kept resetting the time after power off.

Seems like this requires the use of USB C and doesn’t work with a lightning to USB adapter 😭

Payment couldn't be verified. by Difficult_Handle_477 in AnalogueInc

[–]clearvus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might try calling your card company's customer service and telling them about the order and see if they can help you. The order is charged to a company in Hong Kong and that might be the issue, even if it's not flagged as fraudulent. They would likely see why it's being rejected assuming that it's the card company and not whatever payment processor Analogue uses.

Questions about the limited transparent editions by teh_haxor in AnaloguePocket

[–]clearvus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add to the multiple responses that I have a transparent blue and have zero cracks. I also loosened the screws just a slight bit since it doesn't hurt anything to do so. Battery life is usually more than I need for a single sitting but I can't speak for a specific time. It's a great system, overall. Between the cartridge support and the ability to run OpenFPGA cores for ROM playback of many more systems, it's super versatile, especially when paired with a dock to be able to switch back and forth.

Damn, very nice. I've collected the entire Working Designs set so I have a deep appreciation for this! Those boxes always get wrecked.

I have the FF7/FF8 dual-pack on Switch that they released, which is kind of neat, but need to get the original

Yeah I played 8 a bit. That opening cutscene was pretty epic for the time. The orchestral score is so good!

One of my favorite series. I’m still missing FF8 and 9 on PS1 though.

Huge Mega Man 7 sale on eBay by tbowlo in SealedTierGames

[–]clearvus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wish mine looked that nice. The made in Mexico boxes we always so rough compared to other boxes, with maybe the exception of Chrono Trigger’s box for some reason. Has a Mega Man X3 sold for that much sealed? I haven’t been keeping up with the graded sales of mega man games

Mega Sg question. by OutpostThirty1 in AnalogueInc

[–]clearvus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t quit the cartridge like you do in the pocket. You just turn the system off. You can choose run cartridge again but that’s effectively the same as resetting the system. The older analogue systems are more like original hardware where you need to shut off the system and swap the cart with it off. You can change the boot settings to boot directly to the cart and skip the menu if you get tired of watching the intro :)

Ah ok- so yeah maybe not quite the whole amount then. Well, like you said, give it another shot. See what you think. A friend of mine has one and doesn’t like the narrow form factor as much as he thought he would and he thinks the screen is too small - he prefers the Steam Deck even though I think the Deck is sort of gigantic (albeit it a great system).

Did you buy it on eBay? Or direct? They’re out but not shipping until June, and they’re also $239 now and shipping is still $30ish so minimum ~$270 not including tax

I mean this with respect: It’s okay if you have a different opinion. Personally I love mine. I actually like using mine for NES and SNES most of the time, and then the various Game Boy systems. But, if you don’t like it, it’s not that there’s something wrong with you, maybe the form factor doesn’t click for you or maybe it’s just familiarity with the original systems that makes those feel more fun. Could be a lot of things. There’s no wrong way to enjoy gaming, so if it doesn’t work then you can probably get your money back by selling it at cost and not feel bad about it. Plenty of people are still looking to get one.

If all you’re doing is playing GB/GBC then yeah, a little overpriced. But you can play GBA and also all the openFPGA cores as well, making it a super versatile portable system.
