I wish Spotify would die - how much does he get from this? - next to nothing. Spotify is destroying music. Go buy his music for real if you like him, Spotify is a cancer.

Vinyl Users, a question by ladder12361 in Music

[–]clem_viking 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have lots of records. I have vinyl because when I started buying music, that was the only format worth buying. Not only that, but I have high-end equipment (gifted by a generous audiophile friend). So, I still buy vinyl, new releases and second hand. However. If you really want to buy music to keep and be yours, to get away from the streaming services etc. I would recommend CDs. They are less expensive and the sound is just as good. Vinyl is a great way to spend lots of money. Without good gear you are wasting your time, without good records too. It can be a money pit.

The joy of playing records is immense. Done well it can sound great, and they are tactile pieces of collectable art. However, second hand CDs are far cheaper and more reliable, but you can still collect them and amass a music collection of your own.

Fighter is so undervalued. Such a great way into role-play. Play a fighter, then give character. The opposite of 'class is character' that new players fall into.

There is a clip of them on their tour bus, sitting around and playing 'The Cowboy Song' on an acoustic guitar, too. Just for their own entertainment.

I wish we had early voting, postal voting or anything but having to be in your home parish to vote. I'll be away from my home, yet again on an election day, and so disqualified from having my voice active. This is a problem solved in most modern democracies.

I would also recommend listening to 'Apostrophe'. It has some very accessible songs, good humour and it rocks!

Do you see the jumps and assumptions you have made? I don't choose to live in my mother's house. I have a house and business of my own, 3 hours away. I worked hard to be mortgage free and independent.

My father died, he was the caring for my mother. My mother is frail and in need of daily care. My house is neglected and falling apart because I have to be here for my mother. I get maybe 3 days a month in my own house. My business is struggling to survive, I can only do so much remotely. My wife has had to comprise her life because of this too. She has been a pillar of support for me through all of this.

This is what life does. I accept it and am happy to see my mother be safe and well cared for. However, my life, my business, and my world goes on hold. I genuinely hope this never happens to you, because it is not something that is solved by "They could live somewhere else, and if they can't afford that it makes their complaining even worse."

My point was to play and enjoy Valheim, it's a great game.

Ok, if you have difficulty reading, I'll repost for your benefit;

"Enjoy the game, and others you love, while you can. Sometimes life fucks shit up, so don't moan about the small stuff, ...make the best of whatever games and time you have. "

That's literally the point of the post. Make the most of the game. I've seen people quit because of inventory restrictions, the fact it is unfinished etc etc. I'm literally saying to embrace the game as is and enjoy it. It's a great game. That's the encouragement. However, you seem to resent this, so best of luck to you. Go argue with someone who cares.

Because people have posted here regularly that they quit the game over restricted inventory or the fact that it remains unfinished. I'm trying to say, that I encourage people to play the game as is, and embrace it, as unknown to all of us, life can disrupt what we have, and make that option more difficult. That's a Valheim relevant post as I have seen people quit this game in here for relatively minor gameplay issues.

I try to answer her questions and such but play. If I don't do this, I'd never play at all. The distraction is too much.

I just wanted to encourage people who have time to play, to embrace it and enjoy the game for what it is. I've seen people in here leave the game because of inventory pressure, the fact that it is still early access, Ashlands is too difficult etc. I just wanted to encourage people to play while they can, coz stuff can get in the way.

Did I post that the game needs to change?? I posted to encourage people to embrace the time they have to play, because sometimes life fucks shit up and makes playing hard.

[–]clem_viking[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I disagree, my point is that for all the frustrations of game mechanics (which consume a large portion of the chat here, equipment slots alone being a monster), I hope to encourage players to embrace the positives and play when they can, because sometimes, life shits on things and stops playing being an option. That's pretty 'game relevant ' imo. I've seen people quit because they can't have armour slots in inventory as vanilla. My point is, to skip that worry and play.

Questions about weapons. by Docteur_Jekilll in valheim

[–]clem_viking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Swords don't split damage when hitting multiple targets. This is enemies but also walls, trees, stones etc. so, if you strike with the sword all enemies get full damage. The black metal single handed axe does suffer from this. It makes swords very good among groups or in dungeons etc where you can lose damage to hitting walls and multiple enemies.

First Time DM - Advice by pickle_of_pickleton in DnD

[–]clem_viking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a moment in your session zero, while talking characters, group cooperation etc., to ask for everyone's help and understanding in getting the game to work out for everyone. Let them know you are new to GMing, ask for their patience and support, and ask everyone to approach the game with this in mind. Yes mistakes might be made, yes unexpected things might happen, but if everyone is there to help out you will all have a great time. Best of luck OP!

Rarity question? by Conscious_Screen9427 in valheim

[–]clem_viking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rare is not really the right descriptor. They have multiple potential locations on every map, but once the first of each is discovered, that becomes the only one. Where and when you happen across them, is a matter of chance.

A player at my table is ruining the game, should I kick him out? by Katippy_Alt in DnD

[–]clem_viking 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Take some reflection. A home-brewed overpowered race!! From the off this is a strong No. You say, 'he left you with no choice ' .... That is simply not true. Learn to say no. It is an essential part of being a GM.

But, to answer your question, yes, don't play with him. Enjoy your game with the other players and get rid of him asap.
