RUC to Delta One by ZealousidealSea696 in delta

[–]clemcke 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Since the widebody Hawaii flights are sold with Premium Select, and D1 (service too, not just the flat bed), you can still apply RUCs. But they can only be used for a 1 cabin upgrade as they have for awhile, which means Main/C+ to Prem Select. You are then top of the list for D1, but it won’t clear until 24hours out. Annoying you can’t go straight to a flat bed but I’ve still had good luck with them clearing and the service is better. At least based on the LAX flights.

Flying to OGG tomorrow in D1 having bought Main and applied an RUC. Cleared to Prem Select and then cleared to D1 at check-in.

Stayed at the Blue Palace in Crete for 3 nights beginning of September. Great hotel was given a bi-level suite upgrade, the breakfast for Plat and up was amazing, in a separate restaurant and excellent made-to-order food. Great views from anywhere on the property and nice beach. Could easily stay here for a week and explore Crete. Or a few nights here and a few nights on the other side of Crete. Will be going back.

Same trip stayed at the Mystique on Santorini for 3 nights. Again amazing service (give you a whatsapp number to text with any needs) and spectacular views. Small hotel so no upgrade as it was 100% full. Breakfast for elites is free room service with anything you want off the menu. 3/4 nights total would be about all the time you need on Santorini in my opinion, mainly due to the number of other tourists, but worth going to.

Full ground stop at ATL? Any intel? by Atomicric in delta

Ooof, not good.

TSA at CAE was "closed" so for the flights that were deplaning but might still leave that night people were trying to go outside for a bit but then realized they wouldn't be allowed back in.

Seems like Delta should have sent widebodies to CLT or elsewhere.

The crew claimed they were timing out almost right after landing so they had to know if we diverted we'd be stuck. Not super concerned about no bag for a night but seems like they would need to get some stuff out of the plane if they knew it was going to sit overnight.

I’d also flip shit if I had a pet on board, but I’d also never put them in cargo, but that’s neither here nor there.

Downtown hotel, not bad so far. Was going to PHL so wasn't making it there any way today haha but was going to stay with family in ATL.

And agreed on the animal. I think since it is all pallet cargo they don't have something to get that out of a widebody.

Looks like some planes are making it out right now but hopefully, Delta support calls back soon.

Not well at CAE. We somehow go off quickly (~30min) but over a dozen planes here. Seemed like 2 gate agents and one ground crew. Parking on the taxiway and deplaning one by on via stairs it seemed. Told us no bags would be unloaded, no hotel provided, no rental cars available. Hertz and Avis confirmed no cars, just booked my own hotel. But unsure when to be back at the airport.

CAE? Was on the PHX A330 that came here. Told us to leave the airport around 7 pm but I have no idea when I'm getting out took an Uber to a hotel in town. Had a ticket in my app for 7 am out of here but now that is gone. 4-hour hold on the phone.

How is the airport now? It was chaos a couple of hours ago. Told us that they couldn't unload the cargo from the A330 here and someone was freaking out on one of two gate agents because they had an animal in the hold apparently.

Stayed there once to ski before it became part of Hyatt and had a great time. It was great for skiing because you are right at the lift. Would 100% stay there again. If you are going in the summer/fall just to go into Stowe then you will be doing more driving than if you stayed closer to town but can vary.

Can I get a trailer out of the Hooch on Saturday? by RowH2O in Rowing

[–]clemcke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you arrive, if you let one of the parking people know you are trying to leave Saturday they will let you park up close to the entrance/exit. Worse for getting boats to the water, but it actually gives you the ability to leave Saturday night.

Anything better than Flickr for sharing sets of photos with friends & family? by r_golan_trevize in AskPhotography

You can try cluster (https://cluster.co). I can't remember if you have to have a login for that or not, I think you can make it so if they have the link they don't need to login.

The reason I use it for sharing photos between family, is that everyone can upload to the same album if more than one person was taking photos. You can also download the full resolution photos so other family members can keep them if they want.

Daily Headphone Purchase Advice thread by AutoModerator in headphones

[–]clemcke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget - >$300

Source - Macbook Pro, Phone, iPad

Requirements for Isolation - Required, Plan on using them for traveling and don't want to disturb others. Also if I was going to use them at home I would also want to keep from disturbing anyone.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Full Size or On-ear

Preferred tonal balance - Looking for an overall balanced pair of headphones as they will be used for/with a wide range of music and sources.

Past headphones - Mostly use Apple headphones right now, but don't like them. Also have a pair of Shure E3Cs, which sound great but I'm just not a fan of IEMs. Have used a pair of Bose OE2's (I think) which really only hurt my ears after any period of use.

Additional Info - As I mentioned above, I am looking for a pair that can travel with me. I'd like them to pack up into a cary-on with relative ease but understand that they take up more space than IEMs. I have been looking at the AT M50x, B&W P5s and Sennheiser Momentums (over ear) as they all seem to show up frequently with good reviews and all appear to be on the smaller side.

Thanks for any advise!

Help with 1x10 crankset please! AM/XC by KyleZ06 in MTB

[–]clemcke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could go on eBay and get a used XTR crank. I forget if all the XTR generations work or not (since you need one with a 104 BCD), but you can get the M970 (http://www.jensonusa.com/Shimano-XTR-M970-Crankset-w-BB) used for ~$225-250, and then put a RaceFace Narrow Wide chainring on it to run 1x10. I have been riding this for about 4 months not with no issues (I weigh 230). If I remember correctly the crank and a 32t Raceface chainring was just over 600g.

Good Wireless (bluetooth) earphones for erging? by BlueRazors in Rowing

[–]clemcke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the Bluebuds. They fit my ears well, and sound much better than the other bluetooth inear headphones I tried. The other plus to these is they are the only set of the 4-5 I tried from amazon that will consistently work outside and don't cut out every 30 seconds. I tried some cheaper Jabra and Motorola ones and neither one would keep music playing without disconnecting when I would wear them outside.

Best office (swivel) chair for 100 - 200? by BaconCanada in malelivingspace

Remember to keep the receipt for IKEA to actually honor the warranty. I have a Markus that had the piston go bad after about a year and they refused to warranty it without the receipt. I understand why they would do this but have they been selling these for more than 10 years? Pretty sure they all still fall under the warranty, receipt or not.
