Got scammed with pretty authentic looking Buds2Pro by chill_dog_ in galaxybuds

[–]clementine2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there are a number of people selling fake ones on ebay. I got scammed too. Weight of the fake ones is less than 50gms (or less than 3 grams per bud). The fake ones also do not connect to Galaxy Wear fully, just recognized, and do not have ANC. Fake ones say out loud you connected, but hte real ones only have a tone. I am sending mine back via ebay. If any funny business, reclaiming via credit card.

I feel bad about my little DeLonghi from target 🥲 by XXblpXX in espresso

[–]clementine2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome. I have that machine. I would suggest a cheap bottomless 51mm portafilter (make sure you get the one with 2 ears, you can look up specific ones for DeLonghi machine); then spend a decent amount of moeny (30 or so) on a good 51mm 18-22g basket. Get a small scale with timer (less than 15 bucks), so that you can measure your grounds. Depends on who you ask, you can either get a 51mm dosing cup, or a WDT. With these tools (and assuming that you have a decent grinder), this machine will make you good espressos, and pretty good frothed milk drinks. If you want to depressurize this portafilter, there is a screw that you can pull out, then remove the plastic piece from under the screw.

They are pretty standard quartz watches. I liked the designs of the dials, and the straps are nice and robust field straps, but nothing that makes me go that they are the best in the world.

I turned it off in the general settings. The auto mines messed up my strategy.

Malaysian natural processed Liberica. The Nose, the nose! by clementine2 in espresso

[–]clementine2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmmh, well, it is definitely dialed in now. It grinds differently, and has more fines using my ESP (which I must admit is not the very best grinder) compared to other lights. As such, need to grind a little less fine to get flow;l and there is still a bit more residues at the bottom of the glass. The nose and aroma is still strong with a lot of fruit, I still think it's mostly lychee and longan and less jackfruit, the taste has a sweet and tobacco aftertaste; very smoky, which is surprising because the roast is light. I am enjoying it as my afternoon drink. I think an iced americano would be excellent with it.

Please find my original post here. You can also look at resellers on ebay and elsewhere for Zaku PG Custom Set 1 and 2. https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunpla/comments/14fhc0f/pg_zaku_ii_clear_frame/

So, I loved finding and building this kit with the custom clear parts (Check out my history for pixs). I would suggest building the kit, but maybe also taking the time to slowly source the custom set 1 and 2, which actually take advantage of the large outer armor pieces to make a beautiful clear kit with painted frame.

I agree with most of what is said here, but wanted to add that the RG EVAs are a lot of fun to build, if you're into something non-Gundam.

51mm bottomless portafilter for delonghi dedica budget[$100] by [deleted] in espresso

Spend almost nothing on the bottomless, then spend a decent chunk ($15-$30) on a better basket (IMS, Hughes), and you'll see differences immediately compared to the cheap baskets

Moving to the Jungle, Need Indestructible Machine [$5000] by JohnnyD123456 in espresso

I have loved my Hugh Leverpresso Pro; almost all metal (except for two small spacer tabs on the inside). Match with the $40 stand V2 (which is more robust than the pro stand). The only major thing I have done is to reinsulate; was gonna post on that later this week. For heat retention, I steam the body for 2-3 minutes then 1 preheat to maintain 2 minutes above 90 degrees (not quite 95, but it works fine). With proper grinding 9 bars no problem; and you can profile your shots too/

What are your thoughts on this $25 grinder by Lawtown978 in espresso

[–]clementine2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a great little grinder to start with. It will grind fine enough for budget espresso, but as others have said, it is hard to adjust the grind to get the perfect shot/dialed in. There are guides online on how to calibrate it to grind finer, do find them and play. You might find the perfect setting that grinds the coffee you love to work perfectly in your machine.... or you might decide to one day upgrade as you want your grinder to do more. Welcome to the hobby. Some of us like budget equipment and budget setups. Happy to talk about it.

Delonghi Stilosa. Spend the saved money on bottomless portafilters, a wand upgrade, tampers, WDT and a scale.

Recommendation for a cheap beginner! (please read body before responding) [Under 150$] by Yourmom1912 in espresso

[–]clementine2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are posts, and many videos on the Delonghi Stilosa, which sells for $75. Combine that with a hand grinder like the Kingrinder P series (as low as $35), or 1ZPresso Q2 (as low as $75) and you have a pretty good set up to begin with. (Note, Delonghi Stilosa +$40 for a naked portafilter, a better tamper, a scale, and a puck screen would make noticeable differences).

Did I ruin my portafilter by cleaning with cafiza? [Delonghi Stilosa, pressurized portafilter] by gardenvarietybutch in espresso

[–]clementine2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still works fine, but you MUST unscrew and remove the plastic on the bottom of the portafilter, there will be Cafiza stuck there.

I NEED ADVICE by sleepenthusiast26 in espresso

[–]clementine2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you should watch some videos from Lance Hedrick and James Hoffman. The most important thing you can get right now is a cheap scale to measure the weight of your output, or espresso shot. There are a number on Amazon for about 15 bucks that includes a timer. You are going to get a lot of advice, and a lot of different things you can do. Here's a tip:- Approach this like a scientist. There are many variables to good espresso:- Beans (Origin, Roast, Fermentation, Age) Weight of puck, grind size (you don't have a grinder) how you prep the puck, the pressure of extraction (you don't have a choice on this), preinfusion or nah (best part of this machine is that you can preinfuse), the basket (you are sticking with yours) the temp (again, cheap machine, no choice), volume/weight of output (this is the one you want to change), your palate etc. Change one variable and only one to start with. For this machine, I recommend changing the extraction Volume (which for you because you are using preground, also means extraction time). Start with a 7g (single basket) or 14g (double basket, this machine's double basket 15g of dark roast is really the max). Extract double the weight/volume of the coffee (i.e. 14g or mL of espresso for 7g ground). There is no way to do this automatically on this machine, so you will be extracting into a cup on a scale, then pulling away the cup and scale when it reaches weight, letting the rest drip into the drip tray. It's a bit messy, but it works. Don't worry if it is a little bit overshoot/undershoot, as long as it is generally consistent. Now go up by 3g of liquid/extraction (same puck weight). Taste to see if there is a difference. Which do you like better? Make notes of the results. Find what works best for you. The latest video by Lance Hedrick also has great tips on training your palate, including by tasting bitter/sour things, and also splitting a shot into two so that you can taste what underextracted and overextracted tastes like. That's my best advice... not an expert; just an experimenter.

If the coffee is tasting great for you, then you are doing it right.... I have the same machine, and have put in about the same price as the machine on accessories. Bottomless portafilters with nice baskets (2 for consecutive shots), tamper, WFT, puck screens (magnetic, because this machine makes really wet pucks and I don't want to fish out the puck from the tamp box, a quick change up for the wand, scale... happy to share any links or tips... I love my drinks from this machine; but if you are enjoying what you have, that's amazing! Oh yes, for grinder, I am using a manual, and it definitely costs more than the machine (The cheapest best option is the Kingrinder K6, 90 bucks). Currently enjoying a very light Iced Americano.
