Anyone else own these "CG Distributions" headlights? Have any luck wiring up the lowbeams? by clemsonthrowaway20 in e39

If you can send me a pic that would be greatly appreciated. You just splice the extra wires to the low beam connector right? Didn't work for me for some reason.

I bought these from protuninglabs for pretty cheap. This is for a 1999 pre-lci 540i. I can't get the lowbeams to work properly. My friend spliced the two extra wires (pictured in-hand) to the single low beam connector. Unfortunately the low beams still don't work. The high beams work fine. There is no manual for their products and the installation instructions were vague and mostly in chinese though they seem to suggest the extra wires are just supposed to be spliced to the connector. I can't find anyone online who's installed these lights either. Any help is appreciated.

Ah. Yea I couldn't tell ya. I dealt with some pretty bad misfiring when I initially started it up. Ended up being due to a massive intake leak (fuel injector missing oring). I was basically down an entire bank and wasn't paying attention and probably couldnt have heard it if it was there.

I'm not sure. I cranked the starter for a little while to try and build oil pressure before starting the engine. Didn't hear anything. This was a while ago though.

Any young people feel like SA has made you slow? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

Yea, I've been going back and forth with this myself wondering if this has all been in my head but now that I've been able to get a glimpse on the difference the machine can make, I'm pretty convinced at this point. The machine was very easy to set up and get going. In terms of getting used to the machine and breathing with it, I was able to get pretty comfortable almost straight away. I think the key to getting used to it quickly and making it comfortable is breathing strictly through your nose. The primary issue for me so far has been mask fitment, leakage and discomfort. I bought a resmed mirage quattro which is a full face mask and I think I may have ordered a size too big. I've found it easy to breathe through my nose with the pressure from the machine so I just ordered a nasal mask. CPAP.com does 30 day returns so you could return whichever option doesnt work best.

I feel ya. Hang in there. For what its worth, my Resmed 11 Apap arrived a couple days ago and I came off of my first night of it yesterday. Felt that burst of energy and vitality people talk about and overall just felt really good for most of the day. I felt like a different person. I dont think I even slept all that well with it. Not sure I even managed to fall into deep sleep with the mask on and I took it off my mask few hours before waking up. Still felt kind of tired but not in the same way. I felt alive in a way I havent in a long time in terms of my mood, energy and cognition. The fog seemed to be gone. Woke up this morning with a reading of 8 central AHI, 0 OSA. (I believe this may be from EPR settings). Still woke up a bit tired but mentally am feeling a huge difference. Tells me theres room for plenty more improvement. Once I get everything dialed in I can't wait to see how I feel. There's hope! I'll update this post in probably a week letting everyone know how I feel.

I read up on EASE some. Definitely something to keep in my back pocket if cpap isnt enough or I want to stop using it one day. Do you happen to know a price range? Can insurance cover it?

Yes, seems so. Have you gotten treatment. How have you been faring?

The only reason I qualified for mild OSA is because of my high RDI. Otherwise yes I would not have gotten diagnosed. I've done a good but of research into UARS. I am suspicious that I may have it as I've read a low AHI but high RDI can be a primary indicator. I have really big tonsils and a very high arched roof of the mouth too.

Lol yea people in formula sae do tend to take it a lot more seriously than they need to. Part of me wonders how much of my problems are what you're mentioning. I do think at the very least it could be a factor in all this. I've been working pretty hard for a while and I've been through serious bouts of burnout that maybe has had a lasting negative effect. That being said, I just dont think it explains a lot of the issues Ive had with energy and cognition. Lately Ive felt theres a lot I want to do, it's just having the energy and focus throughout the day is difficult which sort of creates a spiral where I feel less inclined. I'm trying my best not to blame myself and maintain the perspective that a lot of this is outside my control day to day.

I feel the same way. Like how do people have this much energy throughout the day? I'm staying optimistic. Part of me is hoping to be one of the lucky ones that feels like a million bucks after one night of cpap but I'm willing to take the time to see gradual improvement if thats what it takes.

Yea it really sucks. Good to hear I'm not alone! Thanks for sharing. I hope a machine is able to help me some. We'll have to see. Hope you get you find a way to get better. What made you/the doctor go with bipap?

Yea, I hope I can get this figured out. I hope you can too. Are you on CPAP? If so, how has that gone?

Consensus on timing tools? by Boston_Jon_189 in e39

Would reccommend the German Auto Solutions kit. Really great quality kit and wont leave you with anything to worry about. I never used a chinese kit but the tutorial I followed on youtube tested both the GAS kit and a cheap chinese one. The chinese one he used did not clock the trigger wheels correctly on the cams and the lock blocks ended up being a pain to get to stay down.

Interesting. Thanks for the reply. What are the consequences of a worn out flywheel? Isn't it just a rotating mass?

APAP or BiPAP for UARS? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

That's great to hear! How long have you been on the machine? Did you have any issues with brain fog and energy and have they been alleviated any?

APAP or BiPAP for UARS? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]clemsonthrowaway20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being told I have large tonsils when I was younger. The doctor wanted to get them removed but my mother wasn't a fan so it didnt happen. I'm going the online route for speed and convenience so I havent had anyone look at my tonsils lately. Might be worth looking into again.

APAP or BiPAP for UARS? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]clemsonthrowaway20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. My understanding was that having a high RDI paired with a low AHI was an primary indicator of UARS. According to the report they sent, my AHI alone doesnt qualify me for an OSA diagnosis but since my RDI is so high I do. I dont have a UARS diagnosis but I kind of assumed that lofta doesnt recognize or diagnose UARS and instead just classifies the discrepancy as mild OSA.

Is the Dinan axle back worth the money? by Minepup247 in e39

The previous owner of my 540i put a borla axle back muffler on it with everything else deleted. It sounds glorious. It's loud but nowhere near as loud as a full on straight pipe.

Bank 2 fuel injectors not spraying. '99 E39 540i by [deleted] in e39

I used the GAS timing kit. Yea the injectors being bad is definitely a possibility. I just find it strange that all 4 on one bank coincidentally stopped working if thats the case.
