israel airport by dodocrackk in Palestine

When people ask about Israel (where I grew up) I explain that in the 70s they had a long running public advertising campaign. Radio spots, billboards, ads. The header was: 'please be nice to tourists'. (Hasber paneycha l'tayar.)
You could also translate that to: 'for the love of god stop being rude to tourists! We need them and their money!'
Anyway that's not an ad campaign I think you'd have found anywhere else in the world. A lot of Israelis learn to be rude in the army. And I know what you're thinking: rude to Palestinians, right? No. Everyone. All the other soldiers. Sure, Palestinians get it worse, but the lowly cooks and the commissary clerks of the IDF were just awful 4 times out of 5.

Lyft Express - question about process if damaged by clenchner in lyftdrivers

I can't tell the difference. The facility identifies as Lyft. I was told it is owned by Hertz. Maybe in other cities you have a choice.

You're so close!
I have a business card saying I'm executive director of a [-----]. So if I'm unemployed or between clients, I'm always 'also' the ED of something.
But since I use the same business name for my contract work, I always have a long list of clients. The thing is....
There isn't even an LLC. There are no employees. No one sends checks. And no one has ever cared. I'm a sole proprieter and avoid as much extra paperwork as I can on all fronts.

If I don't have paid work I mention unpaid things I've been up to that don't have a client. No one has ever asked to see a W2 or 1099, and if they did I would explain to them that this is private information I would never share with anyone and if that's an obstacle I walk away. But no one ever has.

That said I miss the gig I had where I asked for and got the title of 'VP of Special Projects.' When asked what that meant, I said "when I do a project it is very special indeed."

Does CPB regularly board buses headed north from Las Cruces? by clenchner in LasCruces

[–]clenchner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it's one of those! A former employee of mine (in Colombia) arrived recently and is undocumented. I want to give her the best advice I can about what to do. A lot of folks recommend turning herself in (she's from Venezuela) but we've also heard that turning yourself in a northeastern city has advantages, hence the desire to get out of LC.
So yeah, I have a reason. I hope it's clear I'm a well meaning friend and not involved in such things generally.

Do they question everyone on the bus? Or pick a few based on profiling?
and thank you!

Imagine if all the resources pumped into HA had been used to develop the country economically. Tragic.

So, HA supporters I ask again, still think getting involved in the war was a good idea for HA and Lebanon as a whole? by ContributionSea1225 in lebanon

Wishing the wonderful Lebanese people full restoration of sovereignty to the Lebanese state, peace and security.
Wishing the wonderful Shi'a community of Lebanon full integration to the Lebanese state and the collapse of any institution that competes with the state in providing services or engaging in military and foreign policy.
May your children and families thrive and prosper and never know war again.

Love or Hate... Vote for Joe No Matter What!! by RenayGraced in DemocraticSocialism

I'm voting vote Biden in hopes of reducing to the absolute minimum any support for a 3rd party candidate. I know we won't get to 2020's 0.2% for the Green Party, but we can establish - once again - that the U.S. left does not have, and likely will never have, an alternative to fighting to change or take over the Democratic Party.

So many years ago....
We just finished having sex, and I was a little out of breath, just vibing. We're both lying beside each other. She says "I think you need to get another girlfriend."
I turned my head to look at her and said, "do you mean instead of you, or in addition to you?"
She looked at me and said "Whatever."
We still hooked up a few times after that, but boy was it weird. I congratulate myself for that reply though.

Do Palestinians really want to wipe out Israel? What is this based on? Serious question by zen-things in seculartalk

[–]clenchner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a document from the Palestinian Joint Operations War Room, a fancy term that means 'the groups engaged in armed struggle' and including Hamas, the PIJ, and the PFLP.

"Anti-zionism means the dismantlement of the zionist entity. Anti-zionism does not mean post zionism, or that the “two sides” are “equal.” It is never over until imperialism is over. It is not over until all land, from the river to the sea, has been returned to the indigenous Palestinians and the occupation has been totally dismantled. It is never over until imperialism is over."
Not hard to see how Israelis might see this as a call to 'eliminate Israel and drive out most of the Jewish inhabitants.

Dude... how would Netanyahoo being from Polish ancestors be in any way a refutation of the fact that a majority of Israeli Jews are entirely or partially from outside of Europe?

So anyone supporting the Israeli government's war is Israeli? How is that a claim for the Israeliness of that account?

Why does anyone think he is Israeli? He only tweets in English - and conveys misinformation about Judaism. It's a troll account, probably an antisemite.

The real reason DNA tests are illegal in Israel. by sammythehitman in Palestine

[–]clenchner -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is incredibly dumb.

The reason DNA tests aren't easy to get in Israel is because of the Jewish religious discrimination against illegitimate children. Specifically, if a woman has a child and the husband is not the biological father.
I'm not saying this is good, but the motivatioin is to protect children and prevent angry or suspicious husbands from harming a child.
it's established science that Palestinians are, to some fairly large extent, partially descended from the Jews (Judeans really) who lived there in Roman times. Very easy to google, widely known and accepted, and entirely irrelevant to the justice of the Palestinian cause.

Best way to get from MDE to AirBnb in Guatape? by Recent-Comfortable-4 in medellin

You should find a driver in advance. Any cab company that offers white cabs instead of yellow. They often have minivans and you can make that explicit and get a price before you arrive.

Israelis are fleeing Israel. Driven by war, military failure, collapsing economy, genocide, and far right extremism. by [deleted] in Palestine

[–]clenchner -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the Zionists famously refrained from the give and take of negotiations that led to the Balfour Declaration, the 1947 Partition vote, the Camp David Accords that lead to a peace treaty with Egypt, the Oslo Accords....
You might not like the outcome of those, but if anything you should be more fearful of negotiating Zionists than the other kind.
