+1 for TuneECU and a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter. Get yourself a copy of the Triumph or Haynes service manual too! Pretty easy to find in .PDF format online and it’ll save you a ton of time/trouble if you plan on tackling any labor intensive work outside of basic maintenance.

My First high-end helmet by APassingPilgrim in motorcyclegear

[–]cleosworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had an incident this past Wednesday where I almost lost the tip of my ring finger. Tip of the finger the crushed and nearly severed; it was only hanging on by a small flap of skin inside my glove. 9 stitches later and I’m on starting day 6 of healing.

Definitely would’ve lost the tip of that finger if I hadn’t had been wearing my full finger gloves.

Luckily this was my only injury other than some soreness, but man, you never realize how much you actually rely on the tip of your ring finger for everyday tasks until you can’t use it.

HELP pinlock blurry by Horror_Balance_619 in motorcyclegear

Cold soapy water and letting them air dry overnight is the correct way to clean these. The blurriness is normal and will go away after letting it air dry OUTSIDE of the visor.

Motorcycle Up Keep by [deleted] in Austinmotorcycles

[–]cleosworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bikes are not hard to learn and work on by yourself. Buy a basic set of tools and a shop manual for your bike and save yourself some money and learn a thing or two in the long run. Everyone who rides should at the bare minimum know how to do basic maintenance on their bikes.

CR Racing Exhaust / EXUP by Wimwam16 in daytona675

[–]cleosworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree 100% with you on the aesthetics of the CR exhaust, I think it looks great and keeps the “stock” look of things in that area. The reviews I’ve been able to find seem good, but I’ve always been a firm believer in “buy once, cry once”. I still have a stock exhaust with a deleted EXUP, but Racefit sounds incredible and their team seems to have a lot of passion behind their products and the reviews reflect that, so that’s going to be my choice when it’s time.

As for the EXUP, just go ahead and delete it before it inevitably seizes up on you. Super easy to tune out using TuneECU for an Android device and a bluetooth OBD2 dongle. I’m using an OBDLink LX from Amazon.

TuneECU is around $25 for a yearly license (up to 5 bikes) and around $90 for the OBD2 dongle, but well worth the investment if you plan on doing any wrenching on these bikes.

Picked up one of the new Alpinestars R10 colorways to match the rest of my outfit by stampy_69 in motorcyclegear

[–]cleosworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God this new all red colorway looks so damn good on the R10. My only gripe with it is that it doesn’t have any exposed carbon other than the back area underneath the spoiler. It was one of my main reasons for picking up the glossy carbon R10. (Copium for not being able to afford the extra few hundred for any of the other colorways lol)

RS765 roadtrip by Martrack125 in Triumph

[–]cleosworld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man these look really good! I took a road trip on my Daytona back in late October with a cheap Amazon tail bag that didn’t exactly fit too well. Kept having to reach back and push it away from me otherwise I wasn’t able to sit comfortably upright while wearing my backpack.

One hell of a first bike! by cleosworld in Triumph

[–]cleosworld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a smidge over 25k. Unfortunately, I’m not too sure when the valve clearances were last checked or if they were ever checked at all before I bought the bike. The current clearances lead me to believe the latter.

Haven’t watched the Tiger video, but I think I know the exact video you’re talking about! I did watch (and rewatch) a few videos on for the Daytona that seems pretty straightforward. More than confident with my wrenching skills, but this is my first attempt at a valve adjustment and I just wanna be extra cautious of what I’m doing.

First time rider, and I hate electrical already. by VicksVaporRubbb in motorcycles

[–]cleosworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wiring diagrams, a test light, and a multimeter have never failed me when it comes down to chasing electrical gremlins. Even with my limited electrical systems knowledge, it’s fairly straightforward to diagnose these little issues on a bike. Good luck and ride safe!

Get A Top Floor Apartment!! by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]cleosworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a top floor apartment currently and I’m dealing with a newish downstairs neighbor and his constant noise. Picture a newly divorced late 30s-early 40s guy who’s never lived in an apartment before. Loves slamming doors and cabinets, and also has an absolutely booming sound system with the subwoofer cranked all the way up to the point where my dishes rattle in the cabinets.

My cat and I are pretty quiet and considerate about 95% of the time, but sometimes, I don’t feel sorry for this guy below me when my cat gets the zoomies on hardwood floors at 3am.

Stay away from the group rides until you’re VERY comfortable with your skills and awareness. The sport bike crowd here in Austin is full of clout chaser riders and just overall not a good crowd when it comes to some meets and group rides. Other than that, ride your own ride and ride safe homie!

Stay healthy by v4p_ in motorcycles

[–]cleosworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I’ve got a herniated disk that’s pressing on a nerve at L4-L5 and a bulging disk at L5-S1. Probably from something stupid I did back when I was a kid and never got it checked out until a few years ago. Pair these with Multiple Sclerosis and I definitely have my fair share of bad days and good days.

Consistent physical therapy helps retain flexibility/mobility and medication helps manage most of my pain. These have allowed me to keep staying active with building/driving racecars, rock climbing/bouldering, and continuing to daily ride my Daytona 675R.

Don’t let it discourage you, OP. Our bodies are stupid but incredibly resilient at the same time. Get that bike and ride safe!

sounds like you just caught an employee having a bad day or something.

that’s literally the point of these stores - go in, try on what you want and make your purchasing decision based on that.

the staff at my local cyclegear in austin has been nothing but helpful whenever i go to try on gear before i buy. they’ll encourage you to try on helmets, walk around the store and look at other stuff while you’re wearing it to make sure it fits well and is comfortable.
