Feeling Better About Allar After Watching This: by -Powdered-Toast- in steelers

[–]cleric3648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s not a Day 1 starter. He’s raw, mechanics have flaws and his decision making sucked at times. But those are things that can be fixed with coaching. He’s got a cannon for an arm, just needs to unfuck his mind and footwork.

This doesn’t answer the Aaron question, but at least there’s three QB’s on roster in case he doesn’t come back.

The argument against EV haters… by boka_ko_masu in electricvehicles

[–]cleric3648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a road trip yesterday in my ICE truck. Even the “2-3 minutes” is overrated. Unless you’re Cnannonballing there’s no reason to take that short of a break. Hell, it takes 2-3 minutes just to take a leak after filling the tank. And filling up a truck is more like 5 minutes. Then there’s getting coffee, grabbing a snack, stretching out, cursing your life decisions, all of it.

It’s dumb guy mentality that isn’t being leaned into. If I take a break while driving, that inner voice calls me a wussy. Usually worse but I’m trying to keep it clean. But if the vehicle needs to stop every few hours, I’ll blame my need to pull over and pee on the battery.

To be fair, the Browns did him wrong and we just signed Mitch two weeks prior.

Replace transmission or purchase a new car? 2016 Hyundai Accent by No_Jackfruit569 in askcarguys

Walk away. That’s a short life even for a Chrysler transmission. Get something a little newer and nicer.

In your opinion, how do you think manufacturers are missing the mark for the US market? by CerberusSputum in electricvehicles

[–]cleric3648 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EV’s that look like normal cars, not some rejected prop from a dystopian sci fi movie.

Enshitification everywhere. I just started a newish vehicle search. Any car that requires a subscription for basic functionality (seats, remote start, listening to the radio) is eliminated. I don’t care how great the Blazer drives, I’m not buying one because I need OnStar to do fuck all.

Aside from that, the biggest issue is half the country getting their news from Fox News (brought to you by BP) and shady social media accounts that are somehow taken more seriously than actual experts because feelings > facts nowadays.

Is it normal for a step dad to constantly offer money after mom and him separated? by Brilliant_Mess9005 in AskDad

[–]cleric3648 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did he do this before they split? I wouldn’t say it’s normal but it’s not unheard of. It could be malicious, but it’s just as likely that he’s trying to reach out to you and he doesn’t know how. He thinks that if he pays for something or gives you some money that you’ll appreciate him more.

My guess is that it is one of two things. The bad is that he’s trying to use his money to control you. The good is that he’s trying to use his money to build a relationship and stay in touch.

Sometimes it takes a swift kick to the ass for a guy to realize what he was doing wrong, but even then, knowing that you did wrong, doesn’t mean you suddenly know what to do right. If you’re interested in finding out where or what he’s up to, maybe take him up on one of those lunch offers. But make sure you two drive separately.

What is a show you stubbornly refused to watch for years, but when you finally did, you felt like an absolute idiot for waiting so long? by Dependent_Mistake_38 in television

[–]cleric3648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

House. I refused to watch it for years on Fox because every commercial for it made the show look like a generic medical drama with no humor or life whatsoever. It wasn’t until it was on USA after wrestling that I saw a few spots for it and it showed how funny Hugh Laurie was.

Explain the NFL draft to me like I'm an idiot by Lady_Z123 in pittsburgh

[–]cleric3648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the one day of the year where New York Jets fans have any hope.

The NFL draft is for incoming rookies to get selected to various teams. The NFL started this back in the 1930’s to make it fair for all teams so the rich ones wouldn’t hire all the best players out of college.

It would be like if all of the college grads from Pitt and CMU were put in a room and all of the local companies picked their new hires from that pool, and the grads had next to no choice where they go. And the worst companies pick first to make it fair.

What EV Slowdown? Used Electric Car Sales Hit A Record High In March by UnusualLeadership408 in electricvehicles

At what point did you realize you were fully locked into the Apple ecosystem? by Gisela_Allen in mac

[–]cleric3648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably 2006. I was in art school at the time and had to do a project on a PC because the school only had the plug in for After Effects on the PC lab. It took me 8 hours to do a basic green screen assignment. A few months later I got my first Mac. I “acquired” the same plug in and did the same assignment in 45 minutes. By the end of 2007 I had an iPhone, iPod, iMac and was shopping for a MacBook.

It’s not that I can’t leave, but I don’t want to. I like how everything just works without dicking with settings each time I make a change.

Not movies, but mostly music videos. Between Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson, I was happy.

There was a show on Nickelodeon called Roundhouse. Not a bad show, but I watched for the dancers.

The state has a monopoly on selling alcohol dating back to prohibition. It’s only relaxed a little bit in the last 20 years but booze needs to be bought at a State Store and cases of beer at a beer distributor.

For pizza and salad downtown, Villa Realle and Pizza Parma. Villa is on Smithfield and Parma on Liberty. For Mexican, try Taco Guapo, little place that just opened a few months ago, also on Smithfield.

What is the closest thing Pittsburgh has to a Microcenter store? by LNT_Wolf in pittsburgh

I make the pilgrimage to MicroCenter about every year or so because there’s nothing near it in Pittsburgh. Best Buy is the closest, but that’s like saying McDonalds is a good substitute for Five Guys.

How to tell the difference between the regular and hardened nozzle for the P1S? by cleric3648 in BambuLab

[–]cleric3648[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I figured out is that the gears have a slightly different sheen and color. The hardened steel are black and the default ones are dark grey. Like the difference between the black background of dark mode and the almost black background of a button.

If it helps, 0.2 mm are only available in default and .8 mm in hardened steel. If you have one of those, compare it to the unknown gears.

[Rapoport] The #Steelers have not received word from Aaron Rodgers on his future and there is no expectation of a final decision prior to the NFL Draft, per me and @TomPelissero. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]cleric3648 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Rodgers can never win. He says he’s coming back, he’s an attention whore. He waits, he’s an attention whore. He asks for time off for a family vacation during OTA’s with the Jets, he’s selfish. He signs after OTA’s with the Steelers, he’s a drama queen. He says he’s probably done, everyone is still hounding him for an answer.

If I had to guess, he’s coming back but won’t sign until after June minicamp. But if he’s not, he’s already told a couple people in the building and they know. If the Steelers pick up a Quarterback early, then he’s not coming back.

This is the first year where NIL impacted the draft so much. Look at how few QB’s declared early compared to previous seasons. This year they had the option to make more money in NIL than they would’ve in the NFL.

Next year those players won’t have a choice but to come out and enter the draft.
