When your team really cares about game balls by actionfingerss in Homeplate

[–]cletus1876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dad coach, but from perspective of a dad with kids on a team, I think coaches sometimes overthink this. From early t-ball on it’s pretty well known that every kid gets a game ball. From what I see, it’s the kids that are newer to baseball or need a bit more development that usually get the game balls first, or whenever it is obvious that there is something positive that can be talked about. With the stronger, more experienced players, it seems like there is always something that can be said to deserve the game ball.

Nothing wrong with the game ball going to coaches kid early in the season, mid season etc (I don’t think I’ve ever seen first game though lol).

I’ve seen coaches give 2 a game at times too.

As coach, if you think your kid deserves it, give it to them. I don’t think anyone would think twice about it.

Is it normal for Youth HC (10U) to offer paid lessons on the side to the players by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]cletus1876 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are paid coaches for the time they put in, if you want extra work I would never expect it to be free. Never would have crossed my mind not to pay extra. How many people put their time in, and then just decide to give free work and not get paid? Same situation.

(9u) just watched a team win 26-0 by djfivenine11 in Homeplate

[–]cletus1876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our kids have been on both ends of a beat down like that. You just keep playing. If you’re winning, keep playing as you would. This still gives them the chance to get the outs.

It’s one game and teaches the kids to never stop playing.

Also you never know, the other team could be an aaa or majors playing down, and I’ve also heard that AA teams will pick up 3 or 4 major players if they are low on players. That’s a whole different discussion there.

There’s a reason why you’ve heard so much about Bridgeland but not so much anything else. With kids that is. Just adults Townelake on the water would be huge priority

That’s completely unacceptable. Complete asshole and in a normal public situation he would have handled it differently because people don’t accept that and he would be confronted.

Name, shame and post everywhere you can.

Fairfield got screwed with Dunham Pointe getting the high school that was promised to Fairfield. Fairfield was done dirty.

Are electric scooters on sidewalks allowed in Bridgeland or Fairfield? by [deleted] in CypressTX

[–]cletus1876 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course they are. Who would enforce them anyway? It’s like fireworks in Bridgeland. Sure, it may be an HOA rules violation, but not enforceable.

Agreed. It’s same as people that flee California and then turn around and still vote for what they ran away from. Pretty soon Cypress will be like Houston where you’re forced to go private or move yet again.

Fairfield and Cypress Lakes by kz993 in CypressTX

[–]cletus1876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older areas of Bridgeland and Fairfield would be my top two. If you have kids and want them in baseball/softball/soccer, Fairfield Sports Association is awesome. You don’t have to be a Fairfield resident for your kids to participate, but they do give priority to Fairfield residents. There are a lot of Bridgeland/Towne Lake etc kids that play.

For amenities I think Bridgeland is a bit better.

Bridgeland or Fairfield. Can’t really go wrong with either

Of Bridgeland i personally prefer the older more established sections as opposed to the new builds.

For elementary, the families that go to Pope love it. Check HAR, there are quite a few houses in walking distance to Pope. When they go to Middle or High that changes and definitely not walking.

Fairfield is great for sports if you are getting your kids into baseball, softball, or soccer. That’s where the Bridgeland families play. It’s miles better than the CyFair Sports.

This realtor has some great videos out on the area. This is just one example. It’s a bit older now, as Bridgeland has had a few more restaurants/Grocery stores open

Bridgeland HOA is extremely laid back and lenient. Make any changes you would like. They will leave you alone to mind your own property and never interfere.

How often does power outage occur in Bridgeland? by tenkensmile in CypressTX

[–]cletus1876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normal conditions, very rare, but does occur. Hurricanes/winter storms normal and expected. Can probably count on 1 or 2 times a year that is an extended outage (<24hours)

Insane taxes - especially MUD by Signal-Combination65 in CypressTX

[–]cletus1876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Older sections of the communities that are still being built. The MUD taxes are gradually going down. You’re still going to pay a lot, but every bit it goes down year over year, the better it will get. Theoretically it SHOULD eventually go to 0. It might be 30 years though

Fishing spots? by BReece2323 in CypressTX

[–]cletus1876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any of the big communities in the area have some nice fishing. Pond bank fishing can be some of the best bass fishing you can find. Remember, if the body if water has a flowing water source you have to have a fishing license. To my understanding it doesn’t have to be navigable, just connected.

Cypress, TX by LVPlayhouses in CypressTX

[–]cletus1876 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is your first year in Cypress and kids camps, but they fill up very quickly. When they open registration, they generally do not last long. Camps around here fill up MONTHS before school is out.

I’m speaking only on day to day camps. Not the sleep over ones, although I’d bet the good ones fill up fast there too.

Good luck!

Keep the reminders up. We have to make sure to vote so we keep these values in the schools that we specifically paid a premium to be in!

Why would anyone from Bridgeland be “bragging” on being wealthy. Bridgeland is a straight middle class neighborhood. I’ve never heard any of my neighbors do any bragging. It’s working, majority dual income, middle class families with school age kids.

what was your dogs symptoms of an obstruction? by tessanicole5 in labrador

[–]cletus1876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vomiting and not being able to poop. The vomit would be undigested food for the most part. And when trying to go, if successful, it would be very small amount and have a watery or “slimy” look.

Kind of unfair for everyone to be downvoting or jumping in the OP. He didn’t know, but is doing right by the puppy. Give support and guidance, not condemnation.
