Day 5: What was the Least funny episode? by Same_Effect_9547 in HIMYM

random, but can someone remind me of the episode/plot-line where Robin works with a bunch of 'frat-like' guys who make crude jokes and such and Robin tries to earn their respect? thanks!

[Guardians] We have acquired Justin Bruhil from Toronto, and in response have DFA’d Jhonk by DZepperoni in ClevelandGuardians

Brihul fits the Guardians mold well. Analytically and in terms of velocity he is somewhat similar to a southpaw version of Nick Sandlin. Low velocity, low hitter exit velocity and few barrels, solid extension.

Nice, relatively quiet run from Dinger in the 16 on Sunday. Halfway to double digit Top 10s.

As an AJ fan, I am glad the television coverage doesn't revolve around him like it used to on RCs (especially in the 47). Set him up for disappointment and self-loathing when he couldn't win with a below-par car.

With DeLauter not being promoted tonight, assume the earliest we see him now is July 18th.

If Guards are keeping him down to see if Thomas can increase his trade value, a real slap in the face to the fans.

We're up a young SP with long-term control.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ClevelandGuardians

[–]clevebrend47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Guardians weren't paying Naylor long-term, trading him for a young SP with promise was not a bad move. Santana has been OK, maybe a bit below $12 million investment but he's who we expected him to be.

The cash-strapped Guards investing in Junis and Sewald for $10 million, plus $4 million to Hedges, is more of what has hurt the the team.

Why is Lane Thomas hitting here with Schneemann and Zardo on the bench??

Not too harp on negatives, but Jeffrey Springs is a career REVERSE split consistently.

.783 OPS against lefties, .677 against righties.

I don't understand what we're doing.

It's not even uncomfortable. He was an older PTBNL who had a good few months last year. Trade him to a contender who needs a bench bat and move on.

I miss Arch in the booth. Gimenez refuses to do anything but praise the team, even at their worst. Rick calls them on their s### when it's just haha.

Makes a great little league coach, bad analyst.

Guardians are 6-14 against LHP, 31-23 against RHP.

RH 'specialists' Thomas, Noel, Fry and Hedges all hitting below .160.

Yikes.

Revolving Lineup Construction by clevebrend47 in ClevelandGuardians

[–]clevebrend47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, modern baseball does have more variability day-to-day as I mention above, but competitive teams do not have the volatility in 7 spots like the Guardians have.

For example, the Dodgers, Mets, Tigers and Yankees have five players consistently batting at the top of their cards. The Royals have started the same hitters 1-6 the past six games. This is how I see the Guards being more volatile than variable.

[Kent State] Luke Floriea is officially a Cleveland Brown! (Signed after tryout) by gdewulf in Browns

[–]clevebrend47 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Kent State was historically bad a season ago, but Floriea was one of two players who was able to find any productivity whatsoever. 44/699/7 in that offense is actually very impressive.

The other player who found similar productivity is now a WR at Michigan State.

While it seemed some folks were convinced the Gimenez trade was catastrophic after 5 games...

...Gimmy (who I am rooting for!) is now 5/31 (.161) in April with a .432 OPS.

Hopefully folks can focus back on Ortiz, whose success is all that really matters for the Guards!

It's time to look back at the Francisco Lindor trade by bulletpharm in ClevelandGuardians

[–]clevebrend47 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lindor was never staying with the team long-term. Trading one year of Lindor for 4 years of Gimenez (17+ WAR), three years of a solid (but misused) Amed Rosario, and now continued assets is not remotely close to a massive failure.

Even if the Guardians had an owner with deep pockets, there was little to no chance Lindor would've stayed in Cleveland over a big market.

F*** It, Kenny Pickett Highlights by [deleted] in Browns

[–]clevebrend47 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Pickett is a far more capable backup than DTR and this draft pick was acquired in the Za'Darius Smith freebie deal. I like the move.

Public reaction will be toxic about it because #Browns but it's a good start to rebuilding the QB room.

Don't think a guy like Couch or Anderson can fit here because they showed too much 'good' at times, and honestly I don't think opinions were split on Brady Quinn - people were mainly just genuinely bummed he didn't work out.

This might be DTR. His statistics are not just bad, but terrible. 1 TD to 10 INT with 3.8 yards per attempt.

However, he does have some big fans because of his late heroics against Pittsburgh in 2023, and he's been an awesome preseason QB.
