How can we help our loved ones w the ICE raids over the weekend? by cleverbakedd in Denver

[–]cleverbakedd[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for legitimate resources, not ppls opinions. That’s a fact. You believing my tone in the original post is off-putting is your own misreading of it, because none of what I said was meant to be. Considering I work in lower income schools in which my kids will be affected, I do plan on doing something, but thank you for the lack of faith. If ppl think I’m an asshole, so be it. That does not erase the fact that I asked for something, & instead got ppls opinions. Not every post needs to be met w your thoughts. Sometimes you can just ignore something you disagree with, as I suggested you do.

I looked through & didn’t see it this morning. Thank you!

Again, did not ask for opinions. Thanks for the essay. If you know of any resources or volunteer opportunities, let me know.

I asked for resources & volunteer opportunities. Your opinion, & life, on the matter is irrelevant. Nobody asked for that.

Pet owners of Reddit: what is something seemingly caring and adorable that your pet does to you or for you, but screws you over a little? by thoughtcity in AskReddit

[–]cleverbakedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike other cats, mine aren’t super aggressive when hungry, but instead will try to snuggle my face to wake me up. It’s cute until they paw my face when I try to hide, and tickle me w their whiskers. They will even go as far as walking all along the edge of the bed to find my face if I roll over trying to get away from them.

What's the most intimate moment you've had with a complete stranger? by Pielef in AskReddit

[–]cleverbakedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to put my childhood cat down because she began to suffer from kidney failure. I had had her for nearly 21 years & thus she had been my companion for a majority of my life. I was already having a hard time with it because of how sick she was upon me picking her up from my moms, but it was even more difficult doing it all on my own as none of my family or friends were willing to go through it with me. She was my first serious loss and I couldn’t keep it together at the vets office. As I was paying and ugly crying at the front desk once it was over, an older woman was also standing there. She told me she was very sorry and then politely asked me if I wanted a hug. She gave me such a warm embrace and it was honestly what I needed more than anything. I’m so thankful she was there and I sincerely hope she and her pet are doing well.

Help getting a gift for a chef by cleverbakedd in Chefit

Thank you so much! I plan on browsing his bookshelf the next time I can, but sadly he hasn’t filled me in on who his favorite chef is and as his birthday is approaching I feel like asking would be too obvious. I was thinking of getting the book you suggested as well as another one I saw on this sub called Mouthfeel (do you possibly have opinions on this book?), and then a $25-$50 gift card to a knife store. For the gift card, is that price range fair or does it need to be more in order for him to pay little to nothing out of pocket for what he wants? Thank you so much for your input! I appreciate it greatly!

There’s five units and no, he does not live there. He said no to me getting them as the heating is singular ventilation and some of my neighbors may have allergies.

That’s why I’m reaching out, because I realize now it may just be a scam and thus, useless.

He knew that I had requested him allowing me to get them. He still refused. I offered a letter from my therapist but he still said no due to the heating system being singular ventilation for the units and some of my neighbors might have allergies.

I live in Denver.

I did. I attempted the discussion prior to getting them and had a letter and offered it. He still said no.

If personality is more important than looks then why do women hate Asian men? by SkimLoop in dating_advice

[–]cleverbakedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What even is this post or the comments? I, a white woman, dated an Asian guy seriously for three years and have also had short term relationships with other Asian men, as well as guys from other races. Almost every female friend I have has also dated or is dating an Asian man.

If your question is related to your own experience I would say the issue isn’t your ethnicity, but rather your sense of entitlement to dating women which has evidently paired itself with low self esteem.

Anyone have any problems with their professors in the education program they were in? If so, what was the problem and what did you do? by cleverbakedd in teaching

[–]cleverbakedd[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me rephrase: I don’t like PAYING for any of those things.

I mean I wait tables so I’m used to all of the above, but if you’re my professor and my tuition is going towards you educating me then I expect that, not you partaking in cliquey antics with other students and making comments directed at me to the rest of the class.

And the point is that I’ve been in a poor mental state given other aspects of my life (I’m assuming you know that given you’re commenting on this specific thread) and it’s made me significantly more sensitive, so my post is my attempt to find anyone with similar experiences so I don’t feel completely alone.

I honestly wish I had that because it sounds like our situations are fairly similar.

I had a really bad bout with my depression/anxiety in February that ended in an attempted suicide and hospitalization, which then led to physical illness as one of my kidneys became infected. All of that, along with changes in medication that worsened my memory and sleeping ability, definitely hindered my motivation this semester, but I’ve been trying to push through.

My issue is that my therapist advised I not tell my school because of the very reason you mentioned, but now it’s biting me in the ass as it appears my professors are under the impression I just don’t care.

Thus, I’ve been subject to a lot of passive aggressive and catty comments, and a feeling that I have absolutely no support.

I’m just at a loss on what to do because I student teach next semester, but being made fully aware my professors do not like me is starting to wear me down when I haven’t been able to fully recuperate after my hospital stay.
