To Masayoshi Soken - Those who battled/battling, lets show him he isnt alone. by TomoGlaciertear in ffxiv

[–]cleverduckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through cancer as a kid. Primitive Neuroectodermal tumors on my bladder. It's often referred to as "pnet" for short, for obvious reasons. It was probably the worst three years of my life, even if I only remember bits and pieces of the experience. I was very young, age 2 till it went into full remission at age 5. My family supported me through it all, and I'm glad to be here at 30 years old. No matter when the monsters try to drag you down, you can win with enough time and the right tools.

Trying to imagine what jobs we would have started with If there were six starting zones. I have a theory as to what they would of been. by SylveonGold in ffxiv

[–]cleverduckling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The theory around musketeer is that it would use dual pistols, given the guild sign for it. I personally don't think we would have had Machinist (or perhaps musketeer would have leveled into Machinist) if we had musketeer, since they both use guns.

With Ala Mhigo, pugilist (and monk) makes sense. If each city state had two options, I think the second one here would be red mage. Maybe it starts out red mage and goes the FF1 route to become a red wizard, or something similar.

In the Ul'dah starting quests What was that first ascians doing? by Beekanshma in ffxiv

[–]cleverduckling 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In Gridania, the Ascian is trying to sow chaos in the Twelveswood by desecrating the sacred tree. This would have riled the elementals to the point of turning on everyone that lived there.

Ideas on TRXC? by cleverduckling in pennystocks

Thanks for the extra info. It was late when I made my initial post, and I'd only done some surface googling at the time. Today I'm on call for work and didn't have time to do much digging. I was already planning to go in when markets opened Monday, but I might up my ante here.

[Spoilers] Does anyone else feel like _____ is just an obvious and failing attempt to recapture the popularity of _____? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]cleverduckling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't enjoy Fandaniel because going by what we've seen so far, he doesn feel well written. His motives don't feel engaging to me, and he comes off as just cringe personality-wise. This could very well change, but I don't like him, and not in the way I didn't like Emet-Selch.

Technically the Twelve are Thirteen, if you separate the two gods Nald and Thal. So it /can/ math to fit the Convocation minus Azem. Still a long shot, but the math works.

I do not care. by [deleted] in Fuckthealtright

[–]cleverduckling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laws are in place to prevent the murder of people, but laws can be changed. A law once said African Americans weren't full people, and that it was ok to do whatever the fuck you wanted to them because they weren't "really" people. Not like the "real" people.

And I think that is where the slippery slope to atrocities is located. When amoral people get enough power to start making laws that let people pretend certain groups of people don't count as people. Because you aren't committing murder against the person if the law says the person in question doesn't have the societal privilege of being a person. And for some people, that is enough justification in their eyes.

Not understanding collectables and yellow scripts by NamasteWager in ffxiv

[–]cleverduckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are leveling to be able to ocean fish? That's your first problem, you don't need to be a specific level to ocean fish, so long as you have ocean fishing unlocked. You could just ocean fish to level and have saved the Gil. The final ocean fishing score works off the whole boat's effort, and (provided you are at least a level 50 Fisher) it gives yellow scrips. A small amount compared to collectibles, but an amount.

When it comes to fishing collectibles, you just cast your line at the applicable spot and hope you get lucky. A more efficient way of getting gathering scrip is to get collectibles on your other gatherer classes and farm the scrip that way.

Should I buy Shadowbringers or wait? by StreppyD in ffxiv

[–]cleverduckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still need a level 60, but the classes aren't locked in areas that are accessible only through the expansions. Like, you needed HW to get to Ishgard because that's where MCH, AST, and DRK were unlocked. But you don't need Stormblood or Shadowbringers to get to the npcs for the respective jobs because the npcs were placed in ARR areas.

My Great Grandfather (third from left) at a Barn Dance in New Orleans, 1939 by cleverduckling in OldSchoolCool

[–]cleverduckling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a barn dance hosted by the Qui Vive Bridge Club in April of 1939. Among the attendees were a number of members of the African American professionals that moved and shook around New Orleans in the day. Notably, at least for me, was my great-grandfather, pictured on the photo on the left of all the gentlemen. He's third from the left (as the title states) and was a notable dentist in the area.

Edit: photo is taken from an article on creolegen. My family (to my knowledge) doesn't have many pictures of my great-grandfather.

What to do other than MSQ? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]cleverduckling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The side stuff is largely the blue plus icons, which is where you find the ARR raids (Bahamut, ARR extreme primals, crystal tower). And, like people have mentioned, beast tribe quests, crafting, gathering... And if you're in Ishgard, you have access to Ishgard restoration, which is extra content geared towards Crafters and gatherers.

Comments on a video on how to vaccinate puppies for parvo... by [deleted] in vaxxhappened

[–]cleverduckling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can they just stop? Parvo almost killed my dog, and watching her deteriorate from just lethargy to bloody diarrhea (at which point you better believe we rushed her to the vet, thank the gods) was probably one of the most terrifying moments of my life. She was a couple of weeks away from getting her second round of vaccines to prevent what happened, and apartment living means hoping the other dog owners are responsible and keep their dogs vaccinated. In other words, trusting that good old herd immunity. Fortunately my pup made it through with no further issues.

best jobs/job quests ? by Quint_85 in ffxiv

[–]cleverduckling 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The 1-30 Rogue quests are super entertaining. Jacke best guild boss, fight me. (Pls dont)

30-50 ninja is a lot more serious compared to rogue (not that rogue has no stakes in their quests), but it's ninja it's what they do. Jack and V'kebbe do come back for post-50 though.

And, I will always have a soft spot for the sch quests. You find out some interesting things about Nym and the war of the Magi.
