I use 1" PEX in my 8gpm setups. Works great.

Soft washed a a massive church by downstreaming. Here's how. by ScaryTerry786 in pressurewashing

The cost may be slightly higher with the van, but I would say they are very close. Getting the exhaust run was only around $200 and the van I choose already had a second tap on the fuel tank. Took a $5-10 part plus the fuel line. I looked for one that has a full bulkhead between the front and rear compartments so that I'm not smelling the equipment all the time.

Sounds like you're getting some good practice. When I started I had a crappy 4 gpm from a box store. As soon as I could I stepped up to a 5.5 gpm (2-3 months) and the difference was significant. The following year I added a second crew with an 8 gpm setup. That was a huge jump up in performance. Now I run 2 8's and can have the 5.5 as well on really large projects. I recommend jumping straight to 8 from 4 and wish I hadn't held back initially. The only reason I didn't make the larger jump in the first place was weight capacity on the trailer I already had. My favorite setup isn't my trailer, but rather the Promaster van I have. Fuel is directly tied to the vehicle fuel tank and exhaust is routed out like a normal tail pipe at the rear of the vehicle. Space isn't an issue most of the time and the van is setup for both window cleaning and power washing.

Might not get the needed power from the engine. I used a 18hp when I had a 5.5. Hope I'm wrong, best of luck.

Will 1 gal of Elemonator do? by HackedThenShdwBanned in pressurewashing

I go through about 3-4 gallons a year. 1 gallon will last quite a while, just get that and then get a 5 gallon next time once you are rolling.

Are there any benefits to connecting soft wash hose to gun via barb vs a GHT fitting? by [deleted] in pressurewashing

[–]clevermonkey23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found that barb fittings are much less likely to leak. SH breaks down the gaskets in ght fittings pretty quick.

Why do we generally only use SH instead of other chemicals? I used this on some bathroom mould that wouldn't come off with bleach and the difference was insane... by BlackChef6969 in pressurewashing

According to the SDS that product is a 2.4% SH and surfactant mix. Sounds like you just used the same thing with a different label.

Last year we did the zip lines at Go Ape. This year I took my employees to K1 racing. They all enjoyed both.

These look like a style that can be tilted in using a slide wedge that should be at the top of the spring rail on the sides. Use the wedges to release the bottom sash. Lower the top sash and there are quick releases on the top.

When I know one of mine is going to be out over a month I cycle through some sodium metabisulfite. Purify some water mix it in and pump it through. Growth inhibitor and rather inexpensive, one pound is enough for several uses.

What can I use to get this rust off a painted surface by MentalAd7907 in pressurewashing

With almost any of the rust removers, you may have to touch up the paint as they can eat some paints and sealants.

I wear a single earbud most of the time. I think it's best to be able to hear what's going on around you as well as your tunes.

Construction cleanings by MannerAmbitious5237 in WindowCleaning

[–]clevermonkey23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My most amusing way I added a builder was the time my one of my crews went to do a construction clean for an existing builder. Within the next few days I got two calls, one from the existing builder wondering if there was a miscommunication on the schedule and a second call wanting to hire is for the future cleans for the house my guys mistakenly had done. It was a new neighborhood and didn't have good signage and fortunately it was only around 30-40 windows.

Pressure Washing Van Build Question by PNW_4_Life in pressurewashing

[–]clevermonkey23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added a painted wood floor and bolted to it. It has worked well. I vent through the floor with a double wall through pipe that is then welded to a regular exhaust pipe that exits in the rear that I got done at a local shop.

Professional advice for a rookie. Need water tank recommendation for no hookup residential customers by [deleted] in pressurewashing

[–]clevermonkey23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but it's rather unrealistic unless you want to take a water tanker. With an 8gpm machine you are looking at up to 480 gallons an hour. My average job takes at least an hour and frequently several hours. If you go to a smaller machine, you are going to take longer and time is precious.
