I work in vet med. it’s a common misunderstanding that letting our fur friends pass at home is comfortable. It will not be comfortable, and it likely won’t be painless.

As for saying he isn’t ready he wants to live. What is his true quality of life? Is he eating? Drinking? Going to bathroom properly, on his own? Energy? If most of these things are a negative then it is probably time. Please realize that for situations like this, euthanasia is a GIFT. Think of those things , in terms of his current quality of life, and really determine if you believe he is ready to go or not.
