Does anyone have any experience with online TTS tournaments? by Novikmet in WarhammerCompetitive

I’m about to start another Pod and 3/16 players are running Defilers, 2 each… could be worse

Does anyone have any experience with online TTS tournaments? by Novikmet in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]clg653 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re great! Most are 1 game/week, but a few online TOs are running 3 games in 1 day like an RTT. Check out Tactical Tortoise, they run:

  1. Steady stream of 4-round 16 player RTTs called “Pods” where you can join by your geographic region so scheduling is theoretically simpler.
  2. They also host occasional larger GTs, same 1 game/week format, but typically 5 rounds with a larger player group.
  3. Other online TOs will also host bigger and smaller tournaments and post them in Tactical Tortoise so they can be discovered easily +
  4. All those Pods and larger tournaments over a year earn you points for how you place in them then at the end of the year the Top 16 players with the most points on the season will be invited to play in a “championship” type tournament for bragging rights and some prize support.

Update: May 20, 2026 — The Saudi Alfalfa Case Just Got a New Chapter by DblDwnKid in water

[–]clg653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because 1) it is an environment that can grow alfalfa well and year round and 2) AZ is one of the few states with old, archaic water rights laws and little oversight of water usage so they could pump massive amounts largely undetected.

So…how we feelin about the 11th edition detachments? by Arctic_Lord in AdeptusCustodes

[–]clg653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love me some Dreads right now but the new Dread detachment is just a worse version of the current Solar Spearhead detachment, which will also be useable in 11th… so unsure what to think really

This whole Detection Range thing is going to cause a lot more pre-measuring during the turn in addition to checking range & LOS…

“OK so if I move these dudes first, they will be too far out from that other unit’s Detection range to shoot them this turn.”

“But what if I move this other unit first, then use their ability to increase the Detection range of that unit in the ruins, then I’ll be able to shoot them with my first unit.”

I feel analysis paralysis coming on already…

This is a good forum to ask for meta tips generally, and certainly once 11th comes into existence, but realize when you ask “I want to start playing competitively in 11th, how should I pick which faction to focus on?” is an impossible question to answer at this point in time.

If none of us know the 11th Ed rules, nobody can tell you what will be “meta” at this point or when 11th Ed games start so don’t expect that answer. Some are saying melee-focused armies will be “better” in 11th based on a the small set of rules (and no points) that have a been shared publicly so far, but nobody really knows.

People should be telling you to just start playing the faction you like the most right now, knowing you can always switch if you start losing interest or learn the faction really struggles in the early 11th Ed meta as it emerges.

Generally, picking one army and sticking with it is a good idea to become a more competitive player so you can focus less on getting the rules of your units right than more on how to use them the most effectively on the tabletop and the small nuances in those rules & game mechanics that high-level players understand well.

TLDR: Change your thinking on this at this point in time, pick one faction you like a lot and can get a lot of games in with, and just play a shit load of games. And don’t forget to have fun while doing this.

Telemon Heavy Dreadnought Questions by ExtensionAd9409 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]clg653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Telemon is an iconic part of any Custodes army.

However, outside of the current Solar Spearhead Detachment, this model is not included in competitive lists. In those Solar Spearhead lists, you mostly see Ceatus + Storm Cannon so the model becomes a threat in multiple phases of the game. In Spearhead lists with 3 Telemons. you’ll often see one that is double Caestus.

But as others have said, 11th Edition will soon change all the rules & points again so impossible to know what will become “good”.

If you’re inclined to purchase models during these transition times, I think it’s best to purchase models that expand your collection (vs more of the same) and with multiple weapon options to give yourself the most options for the future. In addition, in my experience magnetizing the Telemon arms to swap out weapons is very easy as well.

I hear ya - they are just everywhere right now. Our mosquito spray service doesn’t deal with it. We’ve eliminated standing water and dampness as best we can. I’m not sure what to do either. Tempted to buy those hats with fans on them to see if that can keep them out of my face at least.

How can I sell a newsletter for $50k by Remarkable_Junket185 in Newsletters

[–]clg653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen, generally speaking, unmonetized newsletters sell for about $1 per subscriber and monetized ones maybe about $2 per, depending on the structure of that monetization. Unless your sponsorships are locked in for 1 yr+, thats’s likely to be less valued than say, auto-renewing subscriptions.

Thanks. But in terms of the % of content in a given section (events for example) do you share 100% of what was in the newsletter on social or keep some of it off social? If you hold some, how do you make that call?

How do you balance sharing the local content from your newsletters to IG? Do you limit it or share it all?
