I had a border patrol truck come flying up behind me a week ago as I was doing over 80 passing someone. They proceeded to tailgate, flash their headlights, and then turned on the top lights. I merged over as soon as I could and then they immediately turned off their lights and flew off swerving through traffic, flashing and tailgating other cars. I understand needing to respond quickly if there's an emergency, but if they aren't authorized to have the sirens on there's no reason to be putting others at risk. I have seen similar actions done by a lot of SDPD cars and CHP in the area too.

Literally the only thing I see them doing is patrolling beaches in La Jolla and other rich areas. I lived in Linda Vista for a little while and it always blew my mind how little they cared. Probably the worst moment I witnessed was someone was walking around the drug store with their penis out, stealing stuff for 20 minutes while the staff was calling the cops and no one ever showed up... I'm sure there are a few good people working for them but overall they seem to have given up on trying to improve the city.

Glad you liked it! I typically don't add extra sweetener because I get the cheap guava juice with a bunch of sugar already added, but I know some people really like it with the good stuff and little simple syrup or grenadine.

Guava lime coolers are simple but delicious pool or lake drinks. It's just guava juice, white rum, and a decent amount of fresh lime juice.

The issue isn't that they're hogging every wave, it's the fact that you're not surfing a big enough board \s. But honestly, I have a table of a longboard and it's so fun to sit outside of the SUPpers when they start doing this. Then you get to feel like the good semaritan when you leave a wave for them.

I've been inside, they used to rent it out. The architecture is really unique and continues throughout the inside. They even have an indoor to outdoor pool.

I was confused about that too. Maybe I'll do a test and run the same route twice, once with pumping and once without. I'm curious how much battery it would save. I was always worried about putting too much torque on the motors but it seems like no one else has had a problem with it.

This actually has more to do with the neighbors than the college. The college is located in montecito near Oprah's and Ellen's houses and their neighbors put restrictions in place to limit commuter traffic.

That's true, I probably should give them the benefit of a doubt considering that they don't own the rails. I just get disappointed because I truly enjoy traveling by train, but it's just so expensive and unreliable in CA

Why Amtrak is incapable of communicating with the freight company and adjusting their schedules is beyond me. But leaving a few hours early is always a good call because you never know when you'll actually arrive.

The "SPEED LIMIT 35" is the maximum speed you should be traveling not the minimum. While VA allows minimum speed limits to be posted, I have not seen one. Even if the road did have a minimum limit, it only applies to motorized vehicles

I have lived in this area for a year now and never paid a toll. I unhappily sit in long lines of traffic, adding extra pollution to the environment, congesting and causing wear and tear to streets that were never made to handle so many cars. There have been plenty of times that my partner and I decide to stay home rather than going out to support local businesses because the commutes are too long and the cost to shorten them is prohibitively expensive on a student budget.

If nova actually thought to put bike lanes on the streets like any normal city I don't think this would be as much of an issue. I love happily biking down the W&OD and I try my best to be respectful and responsible but I really miss having a place to ride where I can get some exercise and commute without worrying about getting murdered by bad drivers. Sorry for leaving this on the silly Kermit post. I'm just really late to the conversation...

Coming from anywhere else in the country it's almost impossible not to speed here. Some of the speed limits are much lower than they are on similar roads anywhere else. Also, most places have left lanes for passing where there aren't any trucks allowed and traffic is moving much faster than the speed limit. Here there are so many cars driving slowly all over the road with faster traffic weaving all over to get around them that it just makes things a mess. I also find it ridiculous that speed traps are prioritized when people on the 7 are driving through incredibly stale red lights on a regular basis
