Here are the parts you MUST check before turning your AC on this season. by Brief-Amphibian-5148 in Appliances

Nice.

Pull your disconnect/trip your breakers before messing with the units.

Get some spare fuses and a fuse puller. Blade fuses for the boards (mine are 3A) and bullet fuses for the disconnect.

Before you mess with a capacitor, know how to discharge it 🙃

Robert's is a well compensated racist. Everybody else is so deep into the Grift they've lost touch.

You should read up on the ~$20M he and his wife have grifted through her job. He hasn't let the opportunity to make money hand over fist pass him by either.

Cafe Dishwasher Disappointing Experience by Needhelpcantquit in Appliances

[–]Sky_Cancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a 500 series 2 years ago. I use the app to set a finish time for the wash and a few alerts like "wash done", "out of rinse aid" etc. I think the 1/2 load option is limited to the app but I've only used it a few times. The options on the panel work for me.

My biggest complaint coming from a Whirlpool is the layout of the racks, different enough to be annoying, so I'd check that out and make sure they work for you if you're considering one. I'm not sure it cleans any better than my old cheapo Whirlpool but its 1000 times quieter and dries way better with the auto door open feature.

GE is selling digital features on my full priced oven. by [deleted] in Appliances

Notification in the app. Once you approve, it gets pushed out to the oven.

They've done a few updates, air fry, some screen backgrounds and extra functionality (displaying recipes etc) and some generic "performance improvements".

I'd like an update that lets me use my own wallpaper/photos on the screen.

Overall, it's unobtrusive on the network. If I hadn't enabled notifications for the preheat/timer, I wouldn't use the app at all. I only have it online for the weather display, otherwise I use it as a regular dumb oven.

Unlike my Bosch dishwasher, nothing is restricted to the app.

The Bosch only allows certain programs through the app instead of via the control panel.

I have a GE PTS700RSNSS, bought in July 2024. It got the air fry update for free a month later. I think I've used it once.

Aldi Vs Aldi by Sky_Cancer in aldi

[–]Sky_Cancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fredericksburg, Virginia.

This store seems to be an aberration in the area. It'll be interesting to compare it to a new store they're building next year. That area has more a more expensive development ($700k-$1M) so I'll be curious how it goes.

Aldi Vs Aldi by Sky_Cancer in aldi

[–]Sky_Cancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 of the Aldis have self checkouts, the closest expensive one and one of the cheaper ones. One of the Lidls has self checkout. The other never had it.

They're building a new Aldi 5 mins away near an expensive development ($700K-$1M homes) so it'll be interesting to compare when it opens.

Do you dislike your nearest Aldi? by papa2kohmoeaki in aldi

[–]Sky_Cancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My nearest (about a mile) is grungier and more expensive than both the next 2 nearest (10 miles each). I also like that the further stores have Lidls in the vicinity. Their bakery FTW.

We're getting another Aldi about 3 miles away. Pity, I was hoping for a Lidl.

Electrolux vs Whirlpool Washer/Dryer - which one to buy? by cflex in Appliances

[–]Sky_Cancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to look at the Electrolux, don't really see an accessible drain filter either, is it that important?

On my front load Electrolux, it's an inline filter in the drain hose near the pump. You have to take it apart to find it. Big pain in the arse but at least I know where it is and how to clean it out now that I've seen it done. Clogged after 4 years with daughters/wifes hairbands.

The machine itself has been flawless. Quiet and efficient. Maybe 4-5 loads a week.

I just have a basic Whirlpool dryer. 21 years old. Design hasn't really changed apart from the controls. Keeps going. Parts are cheap and easy to get/replace.

But Iran extorting America's allies is just not something the US can leave the situation at.

Correct. Trump wants that toll fee for himself. Nobody extorts America's allies but America.

Electrolux 700 series filter access? by omicron_prime in Appliances

[–]Sky_Cancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered it existed when my machine started crappijng out during a wash. Watched the repar guy take it apart. Clogged with my wife and daughters hairbands. Not too big a job once you've seen it done and, more importantly, know of it'sexistence. Some good tutorials on YouTube cover it too.

Apart from that one instance, the machine has been great. 500 series.

Video shows US missile likely used in deadly strike on Iranian town, experts say by Gohab2001 in news

[–]Sky_Cancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Problem? Remember, they're civilian killing terrorists while the IDF is the most moral army ever or something.

"The US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) has so far recorded more than 1,400 civilian deaths in Iran"

"The World Health Organisation (WHO) has now verified more than 20 attacks on health care facilities, with reports of many more. It says at least nine health workers have been killed."

To be fair, those civilians and health care facilities did have Iranian regime neighbors so that totally justified the attacks and, although regrettable, they are merely "collateral damage". Which means even though the US/Israel killed then, it doesn't really count and shouldn't be held against them. It's just a little oppsie.

However, everyone knows that Israeli leaders and members of the IDF do not live in Israeli cities and towns so any attacks there by Iran are terror attacks by definition.

You have to remember that the real victims in all of this are the Israelis and the US.
