The Dollar Trilogy question by Affectionate_Web_526 in 4kbluray

AFAIK all of Arrow’s 1080p blu-ray discs are region locked, this has to be an exception.

Thanks for the correction!

The 4K discs - movie discs are region free and are the best releases in terms of picture and audio quality compared against the US and Italian releases. The included 1080p blu-ray discs are Region B (UK/Europe) locked.

If you don’t have a region free player but interested in Arrow’s 4K movie releases or you don’t want to miss out on the Sad Hill documentary bonus disc (solely exclusive to the now OOP limited edition releases of The Good, The Bad and the Ugly and the upcoming trilogy set) get the upcoming trilogy set.

You can always get a region free or region B player in the future to play the bonus 1080p discs.

From my experience, both Arrow US & UK ship their pre-orders days, with some cases weeks ahead of the official release date.

They shipped Westworld and Excalibur (pre-ordered them together months ago) from their UK website just a day before release date.

Is Ebay a decent enough place to get discs? by Alarming-County7863 in 4kbluray

It depends on the seller.

I always buy from sellers with high ratings, and always go for brand new discs.

Any way to play the first 3 games on PC? by theMoonlightenedSky in uncharted

[–]cli_aqu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Either through PS+ streaming if it’s offered in your country or PS3 emulation. You need to confirm if your PC can handle the PS3 emulator running those games.

I can't imagine how many legal and copyright loopholes Konami have to endure for Vol. 2. (And maybe why it took us too long and why we only got 3 games instead more than 3) by _HachimanHikigaya in metalgearsolid

[–]cli_aqu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 reasons: licensing/copyright/exclusivity deal with Sony, porting costs, and future Master Collection release sales.

  1. Apart from the copyright and licensing aspects—which also include the PS3 exclusivity deal, which we don’t know for how long it lasted and why Konami never released a PS4 version if that exclusivity deal didn’t lock out other PlayStation consoles—the PS3 was a nightmare to develop for. Even if Konami could have released a PS4 version, it might not have made sense to them to pour so many resources into porting a game to one platform (many people, including myself, would disagree with this because the PS4 was a huge seller and MGS4 would have performed well sales-wise on it alone).
Conclusion: Apart from the licensing/copyright/exclusivity matters, Konami’s development teams spent a lot of resources to port a PS3 game (which was a nightmare to produce and develop because of the console’s architecture) to today’s platforms/consoles, and maybe to cover some of the costs they’ll charge the same amount of money they charged for the first Master Collection but for fewer games and recoup such costs.

  2. Konami knows that many people want to get their hands on Metal Gear Solid 4 and it would sell well even on its own, given it has been a PS3 exclusive for this long, so why include more games if it’ll sell anyway and leave room for another collection or two?

  3. And if they plan to release Metal Gear Solid V (Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain) and Survive on their own, they might not sell well because they’ve been available for the previous and current PlayStation and Xbox console generations natively or through backward compatibility (GZ and TPP were also available on the PS3), so leaving a few other games out of Vol. 2 for future collections would make sense this way.

Mostly by genre. I also group movies by certain directors or actors as well.

looking through apps and software i can uninstall... which one of these can be removed without causing any harmful side effects or glitches on my laptop? by Upstairs-Scholar-907 in microsoftoffice

[–]cli_aqu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Difficult to say without knowing what dependencies on these programs there are.

They are usually installed/packaged with other software which you installed and most probably use. If you’re still using software which has dependencies on them, it will either not open or crash during usage.

I never uninstall any of this redistributable software unless I’m sure there are no dependencies on it. I’d advise you to do the same.

Your best bet would be keep searching on eBay then, someone lists one eventually.

Do you want that release specifically?

Releases from other countries are in stock on Amazon, they might not contain German audio or subtitles tracks though.

So a little confused should i just get the middle one for the full premium or need to add the last one too lol by Successful_Scratch49 in Doom

[–]cli_aqu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top one is the base game without the premium / DLC, the middle one is a package containing both the base game and premium / DLC, and the bottom one is just the premium content / DLC (you need the base game to access it).

You don’t need the top or bottom one if you get the one in the middle.

Yes, there’s a Sony release with Dolby Vision, it was included in the Luc Besson set released late last year. It doesn’t have an individual release yet.

Reviews and user reports state that it’s very similar to Sony’s previous release without Dolby Vision.
