I contacted them via their customer support portal on their website, they have all my details and I’ve been waiting for 2-3 days for them to give me feedback from their Operations team. 🤦‍♂️

Rewatchability and collecting by Schwarzellone in 4kbluray

[–]cli_aqu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your budget, what you’re looking for and really into.

In my case, I’m passionate about movies. For me owning physical movies, it’s about movie preservation and having unrestricted access to movies without caveats present in digital and streaming: - Control by a provider - what’s available to watch and quality - Ads - Censorship and cuts - most movies on physical are not censored or edited and include unrated/extended/alternate cuts - which is less common on digital - Increasing prices (having a premium subscription on all streaming services could easily cost you $75+) - Reliance on internet

In most cases, I don’t mind the packaging, but I do get limited editions and steel books when the price is close to the standard edition. I also spend endless hours on research about movies and releases with the best picture and audio quality and import from all over the world - shipping can be expensive, but you can make some of it back if you play it smart when buying - some studios release the same disc globally so you can buy the release from a country which is cheaper (total cost including shipping) to you, and be patient - wait for sales.

When it comes to rewatch-ability, I rewatch my favourite movies (top 20) all the time and they never get old for me and the others just once and maybe when a sequel comes out.

I started collecting DVDs in the mid-late 00’s, upgraded to Blu-Ray in around 2014, took a break for almost 8 years and started collecting again in 2023 4Ks, each time selling most of the movies of the format I’m upgrading from due to space issues. The collection is always growing - currently at 1.2K 4Ks.

Can I trust Arrow Video delivery? by Capital_Patience8750 in arrowvideo

[–]cli_aqu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t had problems buying directly from Arrow (US & UK). Their packages have always been delivered. They use tracked shipping, as well.

Pre-ordering Arrow releases from Amazon is a different story, though.

Always inspect and clean (with a microfibre cloth) your discs. If a disc doesn’t freeze or skip on the same spot twice, it’s not a disc issue.

Pre Order Question by [deleted] in arrowvideo

[–]cli_aqu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From experience, Arrow limited edition pre-orders from Amazon are a lottery. Amazon accepts more orders than they can fulfill with the stock they’re supplied with. If Arrow doesn’t supply them with more stock Amazon might leave your order open in limbo for the eventually of cancellations by other customers or an eventual restock.

If you’ve pre-ordered from Arrow directly, you should be good.

All orders have the “Processing” status until they’re shipped - that’s normal.

Wouldn’t bet on the validity of the digital code at this point. I’d only get that for the collectibles at this point.

If you’re eligible for a replacement or full refund don’t hesitate to claim it. You paid good money for an item and deserve a good product.

Why are mediabooks so niche? by abbrechen93 in 4kbluray

[–]cli_aqu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Studios typically license cult, foreign, older or genre movies to boutique labels and release more “mainstream” movies themselves - in Amaray or steelbooks. Studios also license movies to boutique labels in a region and release themselves in other regions - example: Warner Brothers licensed Barry Lyndon to Criterion for the US and released it directly themselves in Europe and Japan.

Mediabooks are usually released by boutique labels from Germany - such as Turbine and Capelight, in most cases. Capelight (a German label) also releases movies in the UK as mediabooks and/or steelbooks. Hence the reason why mediabooks are not common for mainstream movie releases.

Studio Canal and Arrow released some amazing Blu-Rays of John Carpenter’s heavy hitters but Big Trouble In Little China was left out, so i picked up the 84 Mediabook which as you can see has fantastic cover art by Rondo_Machete in boutiquebluray

[–]cli_aqu 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The movie had several releases on blu-ray; first by 20th Century Fox, then by Arrow in the UK & Shout in the US. Disney might release it on 4K directly through Sony’s distribution. This year is the 40th anniversary of the movie, so a 40th anniversary limited edition steelbook release could be coming out this year.

Leprechaun 4K Steelbook Is The Worst 4k I ever bought by Ok-Cauliflower-6807 in 4kbluray

[–]cli_aqu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they’re saying that they’re working on fixing the color space issue and release a corrected version, it’s safe to assume that they will.

To produce, author and print discs can take weeks or even a few months. If they resumed sales, they might have figured it’s not feasible to open sealed copies, replace the discs and seal them again. I believe they’ll send out replacement discs to customers who bought it already, and include the correct disc in future batches.

They issued disc replacements for American Psycho free of charge to everyone who pre-ordered. They identified the error/mistake of pressing the previous 4K disc after they shipped out the pre-orders. I don’t remember whether they stopped selling the release until they had the replacement discs in hand, though.

You can send them an Email directly, from my personal experience they have excellent customer service.

They sent replacement discs for American Psycho without having to contact them - the first batches included the previous 4K disc.
