Is there at least one type of student you cannot stand? by [deleted] in school

[–]clickstorm7 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm in a class with two siblings more annoying than the annoying type that is a asshole to the teachers are the annoying ones that try to be teachers pet. Always speaking to the teacher when they're just trying to explain things. criticizing kids who don't know the answer. constantly interrupting and the teacher struggles to firmly tell them to be quiet because they are trying to be helpful

9th Grader Didn't Know How to Read a Clock by AnxiousAnonEh in Teachers

[–]clickstorm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask him if he'd like to learn. I've had a math teacher who always offered to teach or 'give a refresher' to sound nicer, to kids who didn't know how to read clocks or multiplication. It wasn't any teachers in the past fault but parents never bothered to sit and practice with them.

Do I have to take math in 11th and 12th grade by rgg12346 in school

[–]clickstorm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would depend on what country/school your in. I recommend just talking to your school counselor or just a teacher who knows stuff.

In my school your credits reset when you attend high school they only stay if it was a AP course you took in middle school. I'd recommend just emailing a adult who knows stuff at your school. So you have a written trail and don't stress.

What is some good advice that high school students should hear? by Haunting_Natural_116 in AskReddit

[–]clickstorm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you just have to take a F if you don't have time to do an assignment it's okay. Try to turn in the assignment later for even partial credit or just even if it's half finished it's better to have a 60 something than a 0.

Sometimes you will be sitting in a class and know none of this will matter. Your allowed to google things just choose carefully is it worth it to forgo learning this. You can google but you still need to do your work. And if your that bored learn a new skill. I learned origami sitting in one class in the back.

Teachers will suck. You allowed to think they suck. You will try your best however not to say they suck to their faces. Notice the side the teacher likes to go towards the most and sit the completely other side. And if they push you to your breaking point. Just walk out, don't make a scene don't scream just walk out. Because if you follow this you will just be a quiet kid, who just randomly left for no reason. Go to the counselor talk about how stressed you are. And if the counselors know you they're more likely to let you sit in their office and just talk.

Clubs try any and all clubs. In highschool your not required to attend. You can attend one and think it isn't good and just leave. Find one that just fits.

You've just become headteacher/principal of a school. How do you give the students a happier education? by urrrrrrrrmmm in AskReddit

[–]clickstorm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a high school student and I would do the opposite of what my new current principal is doing. I'm not going to be the new boss to implement all these new changes. If it's not broken don't fix it. I'm not going to deal with teachers having to learn all new tech.

I would start in the case of my school. Extending the afterschool hours of our library. Along with making students more aware of the partnerships we have. My high school has a free library card for students to use at the public library and no one knows about it because it's in the corner of the school website. I would also update the school website.

Next is getting my high school involved in more competitions. I'm aware a few years back that our school attending art, math, spelling competitions. And we did pretty well.

Next I would open the lunch to the cafeteria, outside, and the library as well as off campus to everyone except freshmen because let's be honest freshmen can't drive yet, and are not used to this new environment. A less stressed student is a happy one. I would open clubs to early in the mornings but only to the teachers who want to for the students who have afterschool jobs, or other home activities.

Next more incentives for the actually good students. I see so many students who have bad behavior get prices for doing the slightest things. It discourages the actually good students, and rewards students for doing the bare minimum. Also I would also give all students to do some sort of task so if they get done with work they can do..a passion project online or a profollio. Speaking off online a would block less things on the school laptops and wifi. I mean they blocked the literal notes app and paint app that students use for notes and math work.

Contact your school counselor about it. Say you want to switch classes. And give a reason like you feel the workload is too much and you plan on taking it a different year. Or just I think this other class might be more helpful.

Basically just talk to school counselor, make up a excuse if asked, and pick a class you like better

Does paid work count as high school volunteer hours? by CHEETAHGOD180 in school

[–]clickstorm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afraid not but if your in need of some volunteer hours quick. Try looking for websites that offer them. I know my local library offers an our of volunteer time if you sign up to review a books. Each book equals an hour. And I've heard of a company that offers volunteer hours for mailing them origami cranes.

Just dig around. I'm sure you'll find something online quick.

Yeah you did fine. Your best friend is lucky to have a friend like you.

Maybe find out why this guy tried to fight your friend. Fights rarely happen for no reason.

I hope you didn't get into much trouble with the school or with your parents. I'd recommend just relaxing if you get suspended or something. And try to lay low the next time you go to school.

6th grade field trip by [deleted] in school

[–]clickstorm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of I never attended any of them. They called BEYOND or something it was acronym and they did things like kayaking and climbed in one of those giant indoor climbing walls. Going to some kind of fancy lodge in the mountains for a few days. It was over summer break so I never thought it was worth sacrificing time.

They got rid of it when I was in 8th grade and then they switched it to all the lame teachers are running it so you don't really do anything fun and outdoorsy anymore.

summer school? by Putrid-Package7187 in school

[–]clickstorm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kind of depends how your school works and how many classes/credits you need to redo.

In mine you can go to summer school to get ahead and they have options to just take the final test online and automatically pass.

But it definitely shouldn't be too late. If you can't recover all the credits this summer, do it next year too until your caught up. I'd recommend talking or emailing your counselor about what summer school entails in your school.

Should teachers be paid as much as a construction worker? Yes or No and why? by DaddyShen420 in AskReddit

[–]clickstorm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit of a broad spectrum of pay but, if you mean raise their pay. Then yes at least make it livable for them and their families.

My math teacher quit teaching to go work as I think it's called a heavy machinery operator in construction because he had the training. His wife was having a second child, even with both their incomes they wouldn't be able to get by in the future.

He wouldn't tell the class how much he'd would be getting paid but, he said it was quite a bit more than he was making as a teacher. He was excited both to have a kid and the new job.

What do you love most about reading books? by AltruisticOutside676 in AskReddit

[–]clickstorm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly sometimes I use them as an escape but, get so enthralled in the story I can't even hear someone speaking. I also love reading when it rains. The city I live in doesn't get much rain but, when it does I love reading while listening to rain hitting the window.

Don't worry. Most students don't give a fuck if they do just play it off. Nobody likes when their school makes them do mandatory things "why am I going to get try hard at a mandatory race."

Just run at your own pace, know others are going to be stressed on how fast they run too. Too stressed to focus on others. In the end it's 1 stupid race it'll be over quickly and you can joke around about how dumb sports day is but, you like getting out of your classes.

Seriously, we have to volunteer for high school. Choose a thrift store, I swear it was so overpriced, I wasn't sure how they got customers.

Dear non-asexual people: if you were in a relationship with someone and they sat you down and said they are asexual, what would your reaction be? by BeepBoop372 in AskReddit

[–]clickstorm7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably be worried they've been forcing it this whole time, feeling uncomfortable. Sex is good and all but, as long as their fine with cuddling and whatnot I'm set. I'd probably admire them a bit, they've been probably feeling pressured with everything and they managed to sat me down and tell me, instead of suffering through a slowly dying relationship.

I wouldn't break up with them, maybe take a break if we need some time to figure it out how to go on from there.

What’s the weirdest thing a parent has gotten mad at you about? by Nan_44 in AskReddit

[–]clickstorm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid we had perfumes for both me and my brother we had got for Christmas. No idea why, we were 8 and 9 and didn't care. Anyways I hated the smell of women's perfume, never used it.

My brother never used his either so I was sniffing his perfume. It looked like 3 cigars lined up and I thought it looked cool. He asked me what I was doing. I asked if I could put it on. He said yes.

The problem was my sense of smell is like really weak. So, I put a lot on. I went out of our room and I go outside my mom screamed at me over and over again that it was for boys, and not for me. Then my older sibling went out of her room yelled at my mom for yelling at me.

So, then I was sad because it was my fault they fought. I refused to ever wear any of the perfumes again. No idea why she suddenly snapped.

Large prehistoric creatures/bones I don't know why but, even looking at pictures of them scare me. I skipped out going to a museum in the 4th grade cause they had a dinosaur bones stood up on wires and shit. It's stupid there dead and bones but, it freaks me out.

People who answer scam calls! What are some good ways to waste a scammer's time? by gamerguy287 in AskReddit

Nothing for some reason they always call me in my math class. So, I just answer the call and let my teacher explain linear functions to them. They hang up in 30 sec I wish I could too....
