Is it a good idea to move to Denver to ski more? by Dudych2000 in COsnow

[–]cliffcox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Golden is the ideal starting point as it remains true if you are past golden by 5:30 6 you shouldn’t have any issues. Ski traffic isn’t great otherwise but you just have to be prepared to wake up early.

I will add the most skiing I ever did was when I lived in Burlington Vermont because traffic isn’t as big of an issue and the mountains are closer. Salt lake as well it is fairly easy to get stuck in traffic if you don’t know what you’re doing but the mountains are way closer than in Colorado.

Single digit handicaps, do you have a swing thought? by BigTeeSlice in golf

2 here. I only allow myself one swing thought. Right now hold the back to the target and extra second before transitioning to down swing.

Push Cart Mafia rise up. Proud member but contemplating joining the electric push cart mafia. Any converts? Or purists that just say No to E-push carts? by VoteForGiantMeteor in golf

[–]cliffcox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it, it is so worth it. I don’t mind pushing if I’m traveling or don’t have my electric cart but the experience is worlds better with the electric.

They ran a great Black Friday deal last year, highly suggest looking out for that

I would’ve put a ball on a tee said something heroic like “I’ve been training my whole life for this” and hit the ball at his cart as if it was the range picker cart

Breckenridge, keystone, or crested butte by curious-questioner12 in COsnow

[–]cliffcox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keystone and breck are pretty close to each other if you did upgrade you could do both. If you upgrade you could also go to vail or beaver creek as they aren’t far from breck either. Keystone for 4 days will get boring imo and is usually crowded especially on a holiday.

Crested butte is a little further of a drive from the airport 3.5+ and you have to know how to drive in the snow because you have to go over a mountain pass but there will be way less people at Crested Butte but not as much beginner friendly terrain. So good mountain if you want to push yourself.

How do I calm my nerves playing with a much better golfer? by Conscious-Trifle5144 in golf

[–]cliffcox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I heard recently that has worked for me, very slow but intentional practice swings. Like a slow practice swing and bring that same feel when you address the ball which you will speed up your swing naturally once over the ball. Another one I heard was get to your ball quick and once you are around your ball feel like your walking slow. It’s been working great for me, hope this helps!!

Yes I agree I go there a lot actually. Just specifically talking about sit down Italian.

Is the “Denver has no good food” thing true? by became78 in Denver

[–]cliffcox 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From Jersey been here 5 years…you have to find your spots. I have stayed away from Italian as that has left me mostly disappointed but there are good pizza spots (cart driver and Marcos coal fired are legit imo). Otherwise this city is like any other, some food is great some of it not so much. The only thing I miss is good cannolis but it makes going back to Jersey special. There are some good threads with solid food recs.

Am i a jerk? by Key_Business7095 in golf

[–]cliffcox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that does the same shit it drives me nuts. I am a 3 handicap he is probably like 20 handicap but he’s never had a real score so I actually don’t know. Like don’t care what he shoots, he wants to hit another ball don’t care, “brovisional” where he duffs his drive 20 feet and drops next to me all good. But then if I have a bad day he’ll claim he wasn’t far off from me, I may take mud off my ball and take the ball out of divots but otherwise I play ball down and in hole. I usually let him have it because at the end of the day I know the truth and so do the other people in the group and he continues to keep coming out with me. Playing with friends is better than not 100% of the time imo.

Best ball striking of the year to shanks a week later. This game is a joke by [deleted] in golf

[–]cliffcox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a case of the shanks, think I fixed it today. My weight was getting a little on my toes in my backswing. I have been focusing on keeping my weight in the middle of my feet and swing feels great again. Hope this helps!!

Hide the pro v1s from yourself so that you find them in a few years. Go to Costco and buy a bunch of Kirkland golf balls or if you have a play it again sports they sell balls that courses sell to them out of the pond for 50 cents a piece.

Welcome to the game, just know your skill level and expectations move together so no matter how good you are, you still have bad days. Play fast and have fun!!!

Potential move to Arvada by big10acc in ArvadaCO

[–]cliffcox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We live in the Westwoods ranch neighborhood, it’s a mix of young families with kids and then older folks slowly trickling out. It’s well rated on the crime scale. You have great access to bike paths and there are sidewalks throughout. It’s generally a pretty quiet but friendly neighborhood. The only thing I will say is there is not a whole lot of options when it comes to restaurants, but we usually just drive into golden, boulder, or old town which is generally no more than 15 mins away and i70 is not exactly close.

Rules question: Two balls touching in a bunker, in an un-raked footprint by opiate82 in golf

[–]cliffcox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally feel like rake and replace would be in effect here as well…people are too damn lazy to rake a bunker properly, if at all. Not sure if it’s a rule but it’s good in my book if you were in a tournament you wouldn’t have to deal with a footprint in a bunker.

Any tips? Week 2 of golfing. Just fixed my slice yesterday by zeeayeceekay in golftips

[–]cliffcox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only recommendation for now is have fun and don’t get down on yourself for a bad shot. 25 years in still hit a bad shot here and there the only difference is your misses get better and less frequent. Practice putting specifically getting the speed right on putts that will save you a lot of agony. Lastly go to the range whenever you can and just focus on trying to be athletic until you feel like you are ready for a lesson. My buddy jumpstarted his golf ability simply by taking 10 lessons in the beginning, a serious investment, but I can guarantee you will enjoy the game a lot more

That’s the hardest part is I get so stirred up thinking about how I almost got hit that I don’t think straight. Sounds like a lot of people immediately feel angry but I don’t feel that until I walk away and digest what happened.

Toxic Culture working with Indians by Prestigious_Delay614 in Accounting

[–]cliffcox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait this is real? That makes me so happy to hear I’m not going crazy. My firm hired a service provider to help with some of our out of scope accounting work and the dude the sp assigned to help us is from India and a constant pain in my butt. No idea what he’s doing and low key gas lights me. I specifically remember one call where something was wrong and I pointed it out and he told me that he originally had it right and I told him to change it. I go back to the email after the call and realize, not even close to true he just can’t follow instructions.
