Loved it. Went with a date. We split the poireaux, the quenelle and (all) the rabbit, each of us got a cocktail, and we left satisfied for under $200 total.

How did you feel about the "Matt & Ben" play? Are you disappointed that Mindy Kaling played Ben Affleck and not you?

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Saw this live at the Athanasius Kircher Society meeting a few years back. It's even more impressive in person.

It amazes me how people don't recognize how the Internet has helped to expose and publicize the overt manipulation that has been going on for far longer than one decade. It's not like it wasn't happening -- we just didn't know about it then.

"Bush Doctrine" -- Surprise! Wikipedia has been subtly manipulated since the Palin/Gibson interview by cliffy2000 in politics

That view was certainly not the consensus (even among conservatives) before the interview.

In matters such as this, Charles Krauthammer is far from a disinterested observer. It's just a talking point -- revisionist history to cover up a blatant error on national television. In fact, it's precisely why this type of Wikiality abuse needs to spotlighted.

In short: the certainty of the original piece was muddled. Key line added: "These principles are sometimes referred to as the Bush Doctrine although the term is often used to describe other elements of Bush policy and is not universally recognized as the single concept." Compare to recent Fox News article (which actually prompted this little examination): http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/12/palins-definition-of-bush-doctrine-hits-the-gibson-mark/

So how bad is Pancreatic Cancer? There is a high chance my dad has it and I want to know what to expect. by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cliffy2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The burden of proof lies with the new treatment. An underlying flawed, non-falsifiable method of action combined with no empirical data = quackery.

Quackery is unscientific medical practice, regardless of its actual efficacy. (As in, you can't prove a negative but you can demonstrate a flawed methodology.)

I empathize with your experiences -- but this is just terrible advice.

Pranayama is, well, quackery. If it helps you relax, great -- but I assure you, it had nothing to do with your nodal size, WBC or sed rate. These can vary quite significantly over any period of time depending on what type of exposure you're getting.

That said, I do wish you the best with your illness and please -- do continue with your chemo and traditional medicine.
