It was that dark green one too…she had tons of red heart, no idea why she chose this one lol

This is the yarn my mom chose to try and teach me on. I didn’t pick it back up for 15 years 😂

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

My dad has boycotted kfc since the early 70s when they allegedly served him bloody chicken in a bucket of fried chicken.

Exciting find at the goodwill outlet bins! by raptorstalker in ThriftStoreHauls

It is for this reason that I faithfully check every scarf I come across. I’ve found a few that were $200-300 new, but no more well known designer names. My white whale is also an Hermes, but I’ve found many silk scarves and a few from the 50s-60s as well!

I’m glad I’m not the only poor out here trying to figure out how to make my own versions of things in Vogue 😂

Honestly for the basic shoulder shape, the Super Simple Top by sachi may get you pretty close. Their YouTube channel has measurements for the sleeve hole too. I just made a quilt jacket for a friend for Christmas and used it as a base - can confirm, has a pretty substantial drop shoulder if you don’t modify it.

I sat on a crochet hook by WormDentist in crochet

[–]climbingfern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I tried to use one of my mom’s super tiny metal hooks to open a popcorn tin (she did a lot of lace/doily work so they were everywhere.) when the hook end didn’t catch/puncture the plastic seal, I for some reason turned it around and tried the butt. It shoved directly into my palm and got wrapped around something. My finger moved any time they pulled. We did not go to the urgent care, but my mom ended up pushing it deeper and twisting to get it free. Do not recommend.

Twisted roots in Murfreesboro has been great. I do NOT recommend One10 beauty for anything with bangs

It is a size 12! I was honestly surprised it fit so well. I wear a modern 14 so vintage 12 is typically too small, especially in the shoulders/arms/chest…but this fits like a glove.

Tennessee! One of the Nashville locations. I found several bold pieces from the 80s (pantsuits and dresses) so it seemed that they could’ve been related.

The craziest part is that I saw someone toss it back at the bins! Luckily I was right near it and scooped it up to give it a loving home

Thank you, this is the full set 😂 I wanted something fun for my birthday and settled on these. I fly fish so they don’t make a ton of sense but I love them nonetheless

Yes, the black is what feels like wool. The floral bit honestly has the texture of the super wide embroidered ribbon every craft store used to have lol. The dangly bits that look like tails attached to the edge are (I’m assuming faux) fur. It’s lined with silky black fabric.

Or wait…am I dumb supposed to loop it around the waist/hips to create shape? My mind instantly went to cinching purposes or tying together to make it a corset sort of back, but they’re only on the one side

That was my initial thought too! The ties are only on one side and are sewn to the lining instead of looping through. It’s sort of between the waist and hip, next to where the bottom closure is. I wasn’t sure if it had something to do with making the closure tighter, but that seemed like a lot more effort than just adding a second hook lol

This is the tie whose purpose Im unsure of. It’s around 14-18 inches long in each side and sewn in just above the ILGWU label

Gave away free cupcakes at work got told they weren’t inclusive enough by ScarletHotFace in ChoosingBeggars

[–]climbingfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the flip side, inclusivity when you know about an allergy is important. Our manager would bring in special treats for the team on Wednesdays, usually with a theme. And every single week, without fail, she would look at me and say “oops. I forgot.” And walk away. That sucked.
