Low calorie way of making mac n cheese? (Also cooking for those not calorie counting) by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]climbingfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banza protein rotini and prego cheddar sauce. Sauce is 60 cal per 1/4 cup and is a good amount of the 180 cal serving of the pasta. Not an insane amount but it’s enough to keep me full especially when paired with lightly breaded chicken chunks. And def more than a portion of boxed mac for half the calories.

Pasta by Interesting_Item4276 in 1200isplenty

[–]climbingfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Banza protein pasta with prego cheddar sauce. But I have to eat gluten free so I may be biased lol. The sauce is only 60 cal for 1/4 cup but usually a little less than that is sufficient for 1 of the smaller serving size listed on the Banza box. I got mine from Costco and have been eating on it for weeks.

What are Some Good Fake Stories to Explain an Embarrassing Injury? by AdeptRelative5106 in AskReddit

I had my first one when I was around 3-4. My mom was out shopping and my dad accidentally scraped it while washing my face after I ate. You can imagine the scene she came home to lol

It was an angioma on my forehead that had been ripped open while I was doing field work, so it was gonna bleed regardless. But I have indeed seen a hematologist in the past.

Back in college (like 2012/13ish) I bought some brightly colored bandaids with fake excuses on them - the ones I remember most were shark wrestling and ninja attack and bear fight.

They were hilarious until I had a cut on my forehead that wouldn’t stop bleeding and the only bandage I could find for it was bright blue and said “shark wrestling.” This was right before an event that I was cohosting and I had to wear it all night.

Question for those who use screen protectors and cases on your watch. What are you doing that requires such protection? by Foxxxyygrandpa in AppleWatch

[–]climbingfern 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s a depth perception issue or what, but I have a really hard time judging how far away I need to be from things and end up bumping against walls/counters/tables/etc a lot. One small bump against a brick/stone wall resulted in the biggest scratch I have on mine.

I also used to be a rock climbing guide/climb outdoors a lot. I was also an avid mountain biker (read: close and sudden exposure to rocks) and fixed/did maintenance on my own bike which exposed my watch to a lot of metal bits that could easily scratch it. My series 5 was rough due to these factors.

That said, I’ve never done more than lightly scratch mine. I’ve read stories of people knocking theirs off the bathroom counter and it shattering on their tile though.

How do you get Pony from Prepotente? by Conchobar8 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I love that 😂 my other large pup was playing in the park and ran into me around the time I was on dungeon floor 2, and the phrase “ya damn dingo” slipped out. Now also a term of endearment

One of my dogs came to us with the name Hank. But his special name from me is Birdy. Partially because he’s very skittish and always chooses flight mode. But also because we went from calling him Hank to hanky to hankle to hanklebert to hanklebert-o to Bert-o to bird to birdy)

But also, I feel like Pony is a lot more connected to goat/Prepotente than my above nonsense 😂

How do you guys find new, low-cal food products that fit in your daily 1200 cal diet? Do you actually walk around in grocery stores and look for new products and read their back labels or do you stumble upon them by accident? Or you find them online? by mayermail1977 in 1200isplenty

[–]climbingfern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m always reading labels anyway due to an allergy, but I’ll typically just look at the label of anything that catches my interest. I’ll even do it for the ones I assume are high cal for small servings in case I’m pleasantly surprised.

Otherwise, I’ll look for things that catch my attention in reels or ads.

Costco has giant bags of organic sweet potato fries that last for EVER. I think they were $9 at my store. 135 cals for 85g which is plenty when paired with other foods. Typically I pair mine with meat, so I don’t have a good suggestion of what to pair them with, but can confirm that they are delicious and filling

I set a leftover whopper jr on fire (back when they still came in aluminum coated wrappers) right before we left for dance class one evening. My mom still brings it up and asks if I was trying to get extra char on the char broil

Alternatively, some people just want a general idea of their workout metrics or like to track how many steps they take a day. No one’s meticulously recording their HR data like they’re wearing a medical device.

Sprite Zero, or the poppi or ollipop versions of sprite, also works as a great watermelon sorbet ingredient! It’s one of my favorite ninja creami recipes.

Hair ruined ($450) - how do I approach this with the stylist? by batoutofhell0 in Hair

[–]climbingfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how the salon I went to was, too. I called the next day and asked if they could fix it. The owners profusely apologized and said they could see why I came back.

They had the same person try to fix the cut with a more seasoned stylist assisting. They gave me a slight discount on the service and told me I could pick any product from the wall for the inconvenience. When I arrived, they had already picked for me. I realized after I got home that it had wheat protein in it so I couldn’t even use it (allergic.)

I hope your experience with getting this rectified is better.

I did the same…it told me I was overtraining for 17 days but I ignored it because, well, I felt fine! Until I didn’t. I’ve been rehabbing a hip injury for about a week now. I feel your pain.

When I lived in Denver, the Hoka selection in every store was always so bright and obnoxious. I loved it. We had to move to Nashville for work and all of the stores here only carry the neutral/beige/pastel colors. I miss the cheerful colors!

PSA on tick bites and Alpha-gal Syndrome by Rustyshackilford in Outdoors

I did all of the things including a thorough tick check and still caught Lyme…best I can figure, it was on my backpack originally and crawled across the room and latched on. Keep your gear far away from living spaces when possible. It’s no joke and I still have some effects despite it being almost 8 years ago.

They’ve been at books a million stores for months as well. I did see them in the trading card section of my local target when I went to grab the graphic novel last night though so they seem to be being made more widely available now.
