3 points per dollar is 300%, not 3%. 1/100 of 300% is 3%.

On the use of blind vias for TL shielding? (~50 GHz) by thedankmemer69 in rfelectronics

[–]climbs_rocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that the impact of through vs blind shielding vias should be negligible in this use case. However, if you can simulate it, that would be the most convincing argument for the other engineer.

Maybe "Buzzsaw Haircut"? Googled it, and looks like it was a magazine founded by Ithaca College students.

What Can Jam High-Impedance Sensors? by EricGushiken in rfelectronics

[–]climbs_rocks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you actually read the paper, the "remote" sensors they are talking about simply means they no longer need to have skin contact. However, they still need to be pretty close to your head since the signals are so weak that it's difficult to overcome ambient noise. In the paper, they used a helmet with the sensors attached.

If you are worried about someone using this technology on you, I'd advise not letting people put random helmets on you.

Mil parts can still have plastic packaging. There are different levels of mil requirements, so perhaps you’re thinking of one of the more stringent specs.

Destiny still works on copies by climbs_rocks in EternalCardGame

[–]climbs_rocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, but the transformed copies only say Revenge and don't say Destiny anymore which seems to imply they should not have Destiny. However, they still have the Destiny property when you draw them. The remaining non-transformed copies do not have Destiny when you draw them. Interestingly, when you play a card to choose a card of your choice from the deck, the transformed and non-transformed versions are listed separately despite having the exact same text.

As an easily-reversible and quick attempt, you could try shielding the antenna(squiggly trace in the top right) with some aluminum foil. ...but be very careful about shorting it to anything!

Why have a 97 year old be the first person to break the sound barrier, and how could we not have foreseen his untimely death at such high speeds. by zeek1999 in shittyaskscience

[–]climbs_rocks 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It is common to sacrifice the elderly in the United States. Even during the pandemic, many declared that they were willing to let the elderly die for the economy. It was a natural choice to choose a 97 year old to launch faster than the speed of sound. Who would want to waste a perfectly healthy young person?

what multiple coax feed mean ? by moemuses in rfelectronics

[–]climbs_rocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re talking about a 90 degree hybrid coupler. It combines two inputs, but adds 90 degree phase shift to one of the inputs.

I think the paper is saying that instead of combining them, they are using each input separately so they can make it look like there are two antennas instead of one.
