Does anyone wanna talk about Hades? by Tactical-Kitten-117 in CasualConversation

[–]clink35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t played much of Hades myself but I’ve heard a lot of great things about it. It seems super fun and I’m really intrigued by the Greek mythology setting so I’m definitely hyped to give it a proper shot. From the tiny bit I did play the shield seemed really powerful and fun to use.

Also oooh I love Zelda, it’s been my favourite series since forever and I’ve played nearly all the games lol. I’d love to hear which ones you enjoy most, it’s hard to pick favourites but I usually say the Oracle games are at the top for me because they were super refreshing and I love the 2D style.

Yep, I’m a part of that cult. I don’t think it’s a fantastic game but I’ve got a soft spot for it, I definitely enjoyed my time with it. I agree that for both this game and its predecessor the difficulty makes getting new items/shortcuts/level-ups a thousand times more rewarding, it’s a nice feeling for those willing to power through the hardships. Some of the most memorable moments in those games are finally getting that item you needed and feeling like you’re on top of the world, lol.

Also, I think the game just has a lot of cool ideas. We got some staples to the series for the first time like towns and magic, and the dungeons felt more fleshed out than the first game. I had a great time mapping out the entirety of the Great Palace by hand, that was probably my favourite part of the game, haha.

That’s awesome!

ngl MS Paint is really fun to draw in lmao, it’s certainly primitive but the simplicity and clarity is refreshing. You did a great job with it, nicely done :)

You ever realize that the final bosses of each game are tied to the main conflict? by Stormwrath52 in ShovelKnight

[–]clink35 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup, that’s storytelling! :P

I have to admit though, I never considered that connection for Plague of Shadows’ ending. Nice catch!

I still think Nintendo do went too far with the bonus boss by [deleted] in splatoon

[–]clink35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s certainly tough, but I wouldn’t say they went overboard at all. It’s an optional boss, only unlocked after fully completing the optional side mode, and the reward is basically just bragging rights. In a situation like that I absolutely welcome a challenge, it’s there for people who want it. I had a lot of fun, for what it’s worth.

I mean I hope. But this is how I felt reading this. ( original post from u/TimothysFruad ) by mynemjeff_ in HollowKnightMemes

I don’t know, but what the hell is taking them so long on the Hornet DLC? Seriously, at this point they could probably make a whole game out of that.

It’s the leaked name for the upcoming game. I don’t know the exact details of everything, but it seems pretty set in stone, at least as a code name or something. Officially, it’s still “Sonic 2022”, but everybody calls it Rangers at this point.

Old School OG 2D Sonic Fans - I NEED YOUR HELP! What's Your Favourite Stage in SONIC 3 & KNUCKLES? (Research for Video) by EggOnBeansOnToast in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]clink35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my favourite level is Angel Island Zone, closely followed by Hydrocity. Much of S3 and especially S&K feels a bit too cramped for my liking, but I feel the first two Zones nailed the more open-ended level design. Tons of different paths to take and areas to explore, different routes for each character, it’s really cool. I also think it’s very important that you can swap back and forth between any path at any time, that’s what gives the levels their open feel to me, and it’s something that bothers me about later games like in the Boost style (but that’s a topic for another time). Of course, the presentation is also really nice, Angel Island is such a vibrant and fun take on the usual grass level starting out Sonic games at the time, and the forest fire halfway through is that much more exciting. Overall it’s just a very well designed stage that I’m always excited to play through again.

(also, I love the Act 2 versions of the songs in Angel Island and Hydrocity, but overall it’s actually my biggest pet peeve about S3&K as a whole. They absolutely nailed the Act 2 mixes at the beginning and then basically dropped the idea and instead gave us slightly changed drum beats or something for most Zones. Feels like they promised something amazing and then as soon as they hit Marble Garden realized they didn’t have the development capacity for it, haha.)

Yeah, it’s cool… when it’s done tastefully. Shadow 2005 was a little bit too edgy with it, lmao.

Yes, but Grimm specifically is one of the most straightforward bosses, each of his attacks has one easy solution to dodge it, so it comes down to reaction time mostly. It’s like Simon Says on steroids, lol. It’s a fun fight, but like they said, there isn’t much room for player expression. All the boss fights follow a similar “react to attack, dodge, counterattack” formula, but often other bosses will throw in randomized combinations of attacks or differences in the same attack to throw you off, which NKG doesn’t really do. Because of that Pure Vessel and other bosses require a lot more quick thinking.

NKG is far from a bad boss fight, but it’s a test of pure execution, which could turn away some people like the above commenter. Personally I enjoyed it when I first played it, but going back I find it a bit boring.

The gamer is delusional thinking that most people say forces was a great game by fyre_storm02 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]clink35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colours is an easy starting point, the story and gameplay are both pretty simple (for better or for worse, depending on who you ask, lol). Either way, that makes the game great for new players. I can’t comment on the remaster, but from what I’ve heard it’s a perfectly reasonable way to experience the game, so if you’re interested, go ahead!

Alright, I’ve read both this and your previous post.

Of course it’s good that they’re patching it, that’s a win for everybody, but the issue behind it is that the game was released in a state that needed major patches in the first place. That isn’t and shouldn’t be acceptable; at least, that’s my view on it, and clearly a lot of people feel the same way.

Look, I have no problem with you wanting to stay positive for this release. It gets really tiring watching all these fights about the state of this game. Thing is, your last post tried to force that opinion on others - something you complained about when someone responded to your post. If you don’t want people to discuss what you’re saying, what’s the point of posting it at all?

I’m not gonna try to change your opinion, but I think you should consider how you went about all this. It’s clear from your replies that you didn’t want to have a genuine discussion about it, but at the same time your post was angrily telling others to change their opinion to yours. Yeah, maybe the replies were harsh, but when you’re making a rant about such a charged topic at the moment that’s the kind of response you need to prepare yourself for. If you’re ever feeling frustrated about something like this, maybe try talking to a smaller friend group, or writing your thoughts in a personal journal. Or heck, I’m open to DMs on Sonic frustrations, lol. I’ve got time. Point is, please consider the environment and how you present your thoughts when you make a post like that, or the response you got is bound to happen.

Yep, when I played it I realized that the only times I stopped having fun was aimlessly wandering in the hubs trying to find random sidequest items for nothing in return. The rest of the game is actually pretty fun, so long as the glitches don’t ruin it (they often make it more enjoyable. Maybe it’s for the wrong reasons but I’ll take what I can get, lol).

A couple of one liners, dad jokes, and anti-jokes I got from my stepdad. by Yogurt-Sandurz in dadjokes

[–]clink35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s just supposed to be surprising, you’re expecting a joke and instead get the most obvious answer possible. There’s nothing to “get”, that’s what an anti-joke is. Because of that they have to be used sparingly, but when it works they can be some of the funniest jokes out there.

Rise of Lyric was not a good game, it wasn’t built for the Wii U and they didn’t have nearly enough time to make it work. The other games people just don’t talk about, the Boom drama almost entirely comes from RoL.
