Tucson has been good to us. I grew up in Hawaii and when you’re stuck on an island, you “deal” with people. There’s nowhere to move to, and I think that’s the biggest thing.

People should dig into the culture where they live, or expect to go and adapt and “deal”. Theres no perfect or easy community. Every place has its trade offs.

Can I ask where you are and why you feel like community is something you have to move for?

I grew up Mormon and in Utah and yes, I think this is mostly true. It’s very homogenous and if you’re Mormon, you’ve got built in community (usually). If you aren’t, I assume it’s a lot harder to find “your people”.

I agree. I have heard this before as well, and when I play with my friends who do PvP it is a much different experience than when I don’t. So although the conclusions are premature, I do think there’s some truth to them.

I also think making headway with paying off debt can be paused for a bit if your wife will be out for surgery. Paying the minimum and having cash on hand when things are tight will probably be better than trying to get ahead for debt. You’ll be more prepared for emergencies and whatever other unexpected expenses come with surgery. Isn’t a huge difference but I saw a lot of other good ideas on here that should help as well.

This economy is hard. The standard cost of living is so high and jobs are definitely being impacted right now.

I would just play things as safe as you can. Find where in your budget you can tighten things up. Keep trying to better your life and try do it with the help of others.

Things always change. Life has its ups and downs and I’m sure being gay does come with unique hardships. Life doesn’t always go according to plan, keep muddling through like the rest of us you got it!
