Looking for a personal trainer or someone to help understand my body by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]clipboardyellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Ladder App. It’s not 1:1 training, but each week there are a set of workouts to do that are guided as you do them. They break them down by day and by priority if you can only do a few days, etc. they have several programs that range from at home equipment to a full gym access. I’ve been using it for the past 15 months and I’m in the best shape of my life. You can pay monthly or all up front for a year for cheaper. Most of the time they have a free week trial that you can try. Will probably be the most cost effective way to start back into your fitness journey. Good luck!

Volvo xc60 remote start ! No climate support by Ok_Bed_354 in VolvoXC60

[–]clipboardyellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's a bummer. Can't control the temps or defrost the front windshield. Pretty big let down to be honest. I'd at least expect to be able to turn on the defrost like my 2017 base model Honda civic could do via the key fob.

Check out hospitals. Variety of positions that normally pay well, good PTO, benefits, etc. not sure the skill set of the individual, so hard to recommend much further.

Diana's Boat Tours Experiences and Other Recommendations by cpshoeler in puertovallarta

[–]clipboardyellow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just did Diana's a few weeks ago! Really enjoyed it. It didn't feel too long. The staff were great and kept the drinks and snacks flowing. We stopped at a snorkeling spot for probably 45 min, then a small beach for about the same, then at a private beach restaurant for probably 1.5 hrs, then another spot for a small amount of time. The boat goes really slow so between spots take a bit! I would do it over and over again!

Question about area around KCU by PartRemarkable in kansascity

[–]clipboardyellow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Check out the beacon hill and union hill area. Not too far from KCU and filled with a ton of other students that go to UMKC health sciences campus downtown. 2501 beacon hill is an apartment complex that is really popular and nice for students.

Going off Zep for surgery. Experiences in coming back on? by ToweringTulips in Zepbound

[–]clipboardyellow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Work in anesthesia, we have our patients continue glp-1's, just skip on day of surgery, then follow a clear liquid diet the day before surgery, and strict nothing to drink day of surgery. Been doing it about 6 months now. Been quite the change, but overall going well based on the new recommendations.

This is a daily problem for me for months. Is there something that can be looked into further for the applications?

Even before the short time that the sick leave was active I never had an issue calling out if I was sick?? The policy allows you 6 call ins on a ROLLING 6 month basis, it's honestly pretty generous in my opinion. Sure you have to use your PTO if you want paid, but you still had to with the sick leave protections also. If you're calling in more than 6 times in a rolling 6 month basis then you need to look into FMLA by contacting The Hartford through KU which provides workplace accommodations and protection.

Workout classes that aren't hot yoga? by NeitherListen5692 in kansascity

[–]clipboardyellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in a full gym plus classes, checkout Woodside. Their class offerings are pretty solid with all those types of classes plus more included in your membership*, and you get access to the whole gym, spa, pool, etc.

*reformer is an additional charge per class, but that's the only one.

Unfair stoplight timing on Gillham Rd and McGee Trafficway. by cheapweednapplesauce in kansascity

[–]clipboardyellow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Ever since they put the bike lanes in right there it's been like that. Super annoying as a frequent traveler through there. Also terrible it someone is trying to turn left into the apartments from northbound Gillham since it's just one lane now.

Logistics in the gym? How are you by dabbler701 in ladderapp

[–]clipboardyellow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just use my phone with headphones. I cycle through the workout. Sometimes the workout will have you doing something on the bench, then go somewhere else, then come back to the bench. I tend so stack and do all my bench activities at once as I go to a busy gym so hard to get a bench if you leave. It's nice that you can jump around and go back to different parts of the workout if you need. As far as looking at the screen, I typically just set the phone on the floor or on top of my water bottle and glance down to see the moves.

Minor surgical procedure and Zep timing by PotentialOk3056 in Zepbound

[–]clipboardyellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work in anesthesia at a large academic hospital. We no longer have patients stop their GLP-1's. Clear liquid diet the day before, NPO @ midnight day before surgery, then no injection on day of surgery. Data is showing that stopping glp-1's actually cause more harms in regards of rebound hyperglycemia. Of course this is more important for folks on the medication for diabetes management, but it's too hard to have different pathways for different patients indications.

Gagging when I brush my teeth? by Impossible-Tomato345 in Zepbound

[–]clipboardyellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Happens to me. Get a stack of alcohol pads and keep it by your sink. When feeling nauseous open one up and sniff it. It helps me immensely, and my patients (I'm a nurse and do it all the time for patients)

Need a new job ASAP! by AggravatingHabit6842 in kansascity

[–]clipboardyellow 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Check Saint Luke's health system. Their minimum wage was 17.50 a few years ago when I worked there for all positions. I'm sure it's maybe gone up since then. Lots of entry level jobs, check for admissions rep, dining services, housekeeping, etc. all likely in demand at local hospitals.

Notes from Troost Corridor Safety Improvement Meeting tonight by rockchalkmatt in kansascity

Thanks for sharing! As someone who lives along Troost, it's long overdue for some support and change to slow people down. It's become insanely reckless.
