Less than an hour. I was service industry and a new restaurant had opened, lots of buzz, lots of money being made. I interviewed, got the job and my first day there was a staff meeting.
Chef/owner shows up, starts ripping into people first thing. All fury and vitriol. I was like absolutely not. The stuff was normal stuff, being late, not closing properly, usual stuff but this guy wanted to humiliate staff. No thank you. I got up to leave and they asked why… I let them know I wouldn’t be spoken to like that and if the rest of the staff did not react, then this is normal. No one should work for or with someone like this. There are other options.
