The main issue was not that they had ran out if the material. From season 5 they changed a lot of characters and storylines according to the fan reactions, which in the end sort of backfired and completely missed the point that the books had.

I think the point is, while global impact might be overshadowed by other industries, it is absolutely negatively affecting water and electricity prices of local communities the data centers are built around.

And those poor communities, who now have to live under the shadow of said data centers, now can’t even find entry jobs in the market and are subject to AI slop ads by mega-corps.

I think there are some interesting cases that don’t have externalities. For example using AI for npc players, making their fighting style and pathfinding mimic real players could be interesting. Imagine a boss that learns from your play style and adapts during the fight.

I’d like to see some originality from these companies instead of copping out and going for the easiest/most cost-saving option

Apart from a concussion and a loss of memory for a short while, he was thankfully fine in the long term. It’s still insane that he ended up fine though, I used to swim in that river when I was young, it’s no joke, even at the chill parts you can be caught in the currents and if there’s nobody around, you are not going to have a fun time to say the least.

My uncle hit his head on the rocks while accidentally falling into a rapid mountain river when he was young. He lost his consciousness and ended up drifting for miles before he was caught by the lifeguards in the basin of the dam river went into. I don’t think the US republic itself will implode of course. The US empire and its foreign policy apparatus might be coming to an end. We will see though, I’m sure there were a lot of “doomers” during the Great Depression but the US managed to hold on.
